The watcher suddenly pointed his finger towards the star system and spoke.
“Destroy it,”
What? Han was shocked by what the man said! He had to have heard wrong!! Did the watcher just ask him to destroy a star system!? Han asked the watcher this question angrily and the watcher nodded. He was very serious!
“You asked me what you were doing here. Well, here it is. This is your test. Show me that you have the will to destroy something beautiful. Destroy that star system,”
Han grew angry as he shouted at the watcher!
“Why the hell will I do that!? They haven’t ever done anything to me so why should I destroy them? Are you insane!? If I shoot anything at their star then the entire planet and everything in it will die! You want me to end a whole civilization!?”
Han’s face was filled with anger, but the watcher was calm in the face of Han’s anger. He knew that Han’s anger was justified, but he would not change his mind about this! Han has to learn what it means to have power! He has to know the feeling of destroying something that is lower than him! For Han, this is just the same as stepping on an ant! It should be the same! These people have never interacted with Han before and Han doesn’t know them! He can kill all of them with the same nonchalance that a human being would kill an ant! The watcher flew back slightly as he spoke.
“You are in the temple to become a Celestial. No matter what you think, that is the primary objective of being a part of this temple. To become one of them, you have to understand what it means to be a destroyer. This is the way of this world. The strong trample the weak and the weak have no say in the matter. I’m sorry if it is not something you appreciate, but even if you will never do it again, you must destroy them this once It is the only way I will give you passage to the next test,”
The watcher kept his eyes on Han instead of watching the dying sun. He knew that this would affect Han. That was the point of this all along! He wants to know what sort of reaction Han would have to something like this. Would he get angry? Would he be sad? Or would he be completely indifferent? Han finally turned around and the watcher saw a frown on Han’s face. The watcher asked Han how he was feeling and Han clicked his tongue.
“Annoyed.”
The watcher actually felt his eyes widen! What sort of person feels annoyed after killing an entire civilization! The watcher hummed as he asked Han to explain further. Han was a little hesitant to say anything. He didn’t think he owed the watcher an explanation. But after some time he finally explained.
It all came down to one sentence. It was too easy.
Han always knew he was strong and he knew that the power he had could cause irreparable damage to the universe if he went on a rampage. But it was very different when you see the effect of your power in front of you. It was too easy for Han to take away the lives of billions of people who were working for a living. Billions of people who just wanted to see tomorrow. Han didn’t feel anything but annoyance!
He now knows why the Celestials were always doing things like this. It was too easy. They could wake up in the morning and kill an entire star system before breakfast. They don’t ever have to stress themselves before doing it. Is this why they started to think they were gods? They think that just because it is so easy for them to kill people, then it is their right to kill people. Just like humans feel it is our right to kill animals just because we can kill animals easily. Even if a human would never eat the animal. They still kill it just for the fact that it was so easy!
Han took a deep breath once he finished explaining. He didn’t feel any sort of remorse for killing that star system and that scared him. Was he becoming just like the Celestials? Was he also losing his empathy for weak things? No! That isn’t true! He just feels nothing because he never knew any of them! Han was sure that if it was a planet like the earth, he would not be able to destroy it! He just didn’t feel anything because these planets were strangers to him!
Han tried to convince himself of this for a long time. But even though he knew he was right, he still didn’t like the fact that he felt nothing but annoyance.
The watcher put a hand to his chin as he floated forward to fly beside Han. He told Han to come with him and the two of them started to move towards the planets in the distance as the watcher started to talk.
“I’ve never heard someone complain that genocide was too easy before, but I suppose that is what makes you different from the rest of them. If you had hesitated to kill them, then I would have refused your passage. You needed to understand the Celestials, and how can you understand them if you have never been in their shoes before. The power you wield is unlimited. I believe that with enough time you would become strong enough to even challenge me in a fight. You might even grow too strong and you will have to stay leaving your real body behind as well. If you didn’t understand this now then it would be difficult for you to understand when you are that strong...”
The watcher stopped in the middle of the star system they just destroyed. There was nothing but burnt and destroyed rocks flying around them! The supernova vaporized everything!
Han looked around with a hum and saw the results of his actions. The watcher looked around with a smile.
