Qin Yichen chuckled at the girl's anger and allowed her to ramble on and on. In fact, instead of getting angry or uncomfortable, he was enjoying it and wished that she wouldn't stop.
She was usually so composed with her emotions locked away from the world. If he wasn't a sensitive person, understanding her would have been a very difficult thing.
But watching her face red with anger and her mouth moving nonstop made him feel like he had finally broken some part of the ice that was around her.
"So you were concerned about me, huh?" He asked in a low whisper as he used his hands to pull her into his embrace more.
Rong Yue struggled at first, uncomfortable with the intimate action, after all, they were no longer in danger and her reasoning was back to normal.
"Humph! Who cares about you," she lied, her face reddening a little.
Her eyes darted around nervously as she thought of a proper excuse, "I was only worried that my darling Qin Heng would be worried if something was to happen to you out of the blue,"
Perhaps, up until now, even now had no idea how much the man had wormed his way into her heart.
"Hmmm," Qin Yichen nodded, totally not believing a word she had said.
"You have even taken my family as yours. Are you ready to be my little bride?" His voice was teasing, brushing past Rong Yue's ears and making her completely flush.
Embarrassed by the closeness and his warmth that had closed in on her, she tried to push him away one more time. However, even though she had started training, she was no match for Qin Yichen that had been training since he was a child.
His strength was higher than hers by many levels and when she pushed, it was like a little child trying to pull a boulder.
She gave up, rolling her eyes in annoyance.
When they got to the car she hired earlier, Qin Yichen entered the driver's seat and took the key from her. Confirming that no one was following them, they both left The Viridian area.
If it was any man that was saying this, her heart would have been disgusted and repulsed by the touching words, after all, words were nothing but empty promises.
But it was Qin Yichen, a man that had shown her so many times that his words were not empty nothing. And many times, he had even shown her with actions the kind of person he was and not just words.
It was hard for her heart not to be shaken by his sincere words.
Rong Yue said nothing, allowing his words to keep hanging in the air while silence filled the car. However, Qin Yichen didn't mind only increasing the speed and getting them to the hotel quickly enough.
As soon as they entered their suite, Rong Yue that was walking ahead and had said nothing the entire time, turned around so that she was facing Qin Yichen directly and finally spoke up.
"Yichen, thank you."
It was three words, but it was more than enough for the man in front of her.
Because at that moment, standing in front of her red-rimmed eyes, he could see his reflection in her eyes.
And he could see all the unspoken thousand words that were in her heart. He knew her well enough to know the words she was saying and the ones she wasn't saying.
He reached out, his long arms reaching her easily and pulling her into his embrace.
"Silly girl, you don't have to thank me," he chided, but his gaze and tone were gentle and soft.
This time Rong Yue didn't pull away from his embrace and just stayed there, her eyes becoming teary with every second.
Her mind also wondered that maybe, just maybe if she had met this man in her last life.
Would she have had an ending like that?
