When Albert arrives at his house he can see that his mother was standing on the front lawn waiting worriedly. Seeing James's car approaching the house she takes a big step to James's car directions looking for a familiar face. It's normal for a mother to be worried about the experiment result, but if you look closely there's a glister of hope in her face mixing with a worried expression.
The car starts to decelerate 40 meters apart from Ward's manor. Before the car fully stopped a silhouette rush from the backdoor crashing to Mrs. Abigail causing her to stumble backward.
'I guess this whole experience scared her more than she shows. Well, the fact that she goes all through this without breaking down is amazing already. I mean, She's 15 for god sake.' Albert's mind taking note after seeing his sister rushing to their mom.
Mrs. Abigail pats her daughter back calming her down while James helps Albert to get off the car and get on his personal floating device. While calming her daughter Mrs. Abigail throws a couple of worried glance to her son from time to time.
Albert offer James to stay for a bit but James declines him saying that his father already sent him a message and wait for him in their house. James says goodbye to the Wards family and hop onto his ride and go on his way.
Inside Ward's house and Alice was so tired that she goes face-first into the couch. Albert recites what happens today to his mom about the experiment and also introduces her to his new puppet Luna. Luna is still hanging out in his shoulder with her eyes closed and his mom doesn't seem to bother about a snake that hangs around in her son's neck making him a bit disappointed.
Before Albert can join the sleeping club with his sister who's already fast asleep in the couch; His mother stops him.
"How were your legs?"
"Whaaaaaaaat? How do you know??? So the experiment really have an effect on my legs?" I was surprised by her questions.
"I'm not exactly sure that's why I'm asking. So can you move it? Can you walk?"
"No, I can't. I can wiggle my toes and the sense of having legs are back but I can't move it," Albert said with a sad face ready to face her grimace that she would give me every time an experiment failed to heal her son's disability.
Contrary to Albert assumption, His mother's face becomes so bright and happy the moment she heard he got to sense with his leg again. Tears start dropping from her face and she smacks his head lovingly and hugs him tight.
"You're supposed to be genius aren't you. How can someone who hasn't move his lower body for 10 years walk with his own two feet after he treated for only one day?"
Albert's brain gear starts to rotate and he realizes that all the stupids miscalculation that he made.
'Since when I was so stupid and start to think that this was a game. This is real life and in real life, after you get paralyzed for 1 year you probably need to go to the therapy for who knows how long before you can walk again. And I've been paralyzed for 10 years so does that mean I've been really cured?' Albert starts imagining all the possible things that could happen and tears start to roll down his face.
"Do you mean I ca..."
"Yep," His mom cut him short as if knowing what her son going to ask.
"But how? All the doctors before said that it would be impossible and even all the medical trial that we've been going through. Hell, we even tried the sketchy underground research center. If the government has this experiment figured out since long ago why do they not announce it? What exactly is this experiment? Can it cure all illnesses that ever been recorded? Is it some kind of panacea or something?" Albert barrages his mom with a ton of questions loading all the emotions that he had been held.
From her reactions, Albert knows that her mother knew something. The fact that she mentions about his leg conditions leak the secret away.
"This experiment has only set in motion about 2 years ago. They got the research data and all the materials that needed for this from a sketchy source so we need to pace it really carefully. And no this is not some kind of panacea that can cure everything. This experiment alters some of your brains DNA to gives you an ability that not from this world. In the process of giving you the ability, some part of your brains would be destroyed and something that I'm not really sure of would remake all it functions to the most optimal ways. The cause of your paralysis is located in your brain so I figure that there's a chance that the experiment would have a slim chance to heal you."
"How do you know all this? And since when? Does it mean that the government knows that the world is going to end for like at least 2 years and they didn't announce it? They can evacuate all the people on earth at that time span why didn't they do that? As bad as mars are it's still better than dying planet who cough up disaster every weekend."
"The scientist already predicts this a long time ago. The inial plan was to evacuate everyone to mars in like 5 years but the earth deteriorating too fast and the mars have not been prepared to host all of the people 5 years early in development. The research to colonize Mars only has been finished like 5 years ago and it needs at least 10 years to develop a sustainable environment in a barren planet."
Albert ready myself to barrage his mom with another question after she finishes her sentence when she holds her hand in front of him and said.
"For now, hold all your questions after your dad come back tomorrow. He's better at explaining stuff to you and he knows more about this thing than me. I don't want to wake your sister up in all these commotions. And you know better than I do if she know all this, her brain would be short-circuited and unable to keep her calm. And you of all people should know that in a dire situation a calm minded people are the one that would make it out alive."
Albert floats up to his rooms and lay flat down in his bed while Luna trying a few different spots until she decides to curl up on a sofa next to a window. Albert skips his dinner cause he was too busy processing all the pieces of information that he gets during the day.
His consciousness slips away while he was reading the experiment manual that t. All along, He was wondering about a way to make use of his power and what would the government do with all of these powerful peoples suddenly popping out like mice.
