Chapter 23 - 23. Weapon Mastery

After answering 3 consecutive questions about the general stuff around New World Project rather than questions about weapon mastery - Mr. Carlos raises his hand and told someone who about to ask him another question to stop

"You already have a chance to read some of the general matters in the library. It's your fault if you did not use your time to look for it before. From now I would only answer questions about weapons mastery or basic combat."

Some of the students walk to choose their weapon after hearing about Mr. Carlos's decline to answer their question. The group that is left behind start to inquire more detail information about weapon mastery and the weapon itself.

Student A: "Are we allowed to bring the weapon back with us to train on our home?"

"No, you can't due to how dangerous it is. But you can file a request and see whether or not that possible after the New World Project goes public."

Student B: "What if I want to refit my weapon, for example, the length or the weight of it?"

"You can file in a request for a customized weapon but you have to pay an extra for that"

Mr. Carlos is a man of a few words. He tries his best to be amicable but it got overshadowed by his intimidating presence. One particular group students seem unfazed by his intimidating presence;

From the way they stand and the stoic face that they show, they seem to have a military background.

"Can use my personal weapon for this training? Also is it possible for this weapon to be my starting equipment later?" Ask the student from that group

"Yes, but I don't know whether it's possible to use it as starting equipment later. Most weapons we got here are made of by the people from the New World. The weapon from New World possesses a status like an attack, durability, weight, etc. You can try to fill a request to see whether it is possible to recreate your weapon to fit the requirements."

"What if I can't use a weapon and don't have any weapon mastery?" Alice asks Mr. Carlos seeing that only their group are left as other students already taking their time choosing weapons.

"That means you're free to choose anything but the risk are higher as you don't have any basis. One of my good friends starts with no weapon mastery just like you. Hoping he can get a sword mastery as his mastery, he picks a cleaver for his weapon of choice; Due to some event, he somehow gains axe mastery by chance and even after he got axe mastery he still sticks with his cleaver."

"His persistent and hard work was finally awarded when his axe mastery evolved into saber mastery which arguably fit him better than sword mastery that he wishes he could acquire. Even though I say this you should pick your weapon mastery carefully as his case is 1 in 100 cases. The other 99 who didn't the same luck as him either get left behind by others peers or trying their luck with another path."

Alice furrows his eyebrow as that is not the answer she was expecting. Mr. Carlos who seems to hate answering other student questions. Gave a long detailed explanation about weapon mastery. Still, even after this long, it did not answer Alice's real question.

Seeing Alice's face frowned forehead Albert decide to be a good brother and give Mr. Carlos a more detail explanation about Alice's predicament.

"Sir, Alice's circumstance is a bit different compared to others. You see, Due to her traits Alice is incapable of wielding any form of weapons. So even if she wants to pick let say a sword her traits are preventing her from wielding the said sword. Do you have any suggestion for someone with those conditions?"

"Oh, that one unique condition you have there. Hmmm, did you have any support or magical capabilities? If you do, it would make this easier as support and magical classes not necessarily need weapons to perform. May I know what her class and mastery are? Maybe I could give more appropriate suggestions if I know more details."

"She has a monk as her class and even though it can be categorized as a support class she doesn't have the necessary mastery nor traits to back it up. Her Steel Armed traits prevent her from wielding any forms of weapon but it gave her bonus to unarmed combat and also extra mastery slot. Her mastery is called Jade Skin, Amethys Muscle, Ruby Bone I was thinking about asking Mr. Hubert about it later. Mr. Hubert's demonstration of body manipulation skill yesterday gives me an impression - that body manipulation would suit her mastery quite well."

and as for her traits, It's think it falls into body manipulation category

"Oh, there is one good brain you have in there young man! Better keep it safe." Mr. Carlos said before he continues

"Asking Mr. Hubert for advice would be the correct way. From her mastery, it's almost safe to assume that it would fall into body manipulation category. But I think it would be inappropriate for a girl like her if she follows Mr. Hubert's way of combat."

"You see when he fights with his party he utilize his body manipulation skill to manipulate his body constitution and act as the tank for the team. I can't imagine a team where they let a little girl like her take a hit while everyone stands back and attacking the enemy."

"If I were in her shoes, then I would try to learn basic unarmed combat and pick a couple of movement base skill or unarmed combat style in a library later. Learning unarmed combat goes doesn't hinder you in learning body manipulation and it also got boosted by her traits. But if you prefer her to be far from harm you can try to help her develop her lifestyle mastery later in-game."

"She can learn basic combat while wearing gloves and arms guard as it counts as armors and not a weapon. Nothing could go wrong by learning self-defense as the world we would dive into are full of danger. She can spar with me so I can instruct her as I already complete basic combat lessons even before I participate in Project New World." Anna chid a proposal
