CH 34

Name:Reborn as his Shadow Author:
Early the next morning, Mo Jingxuan woke up in a large bed in a two-person room feeling limp and sore. Habitually reaching for the person beside him, he woke up as he felt a cold space instead of the expected warmth, “Baby? Baby!”

“Xuan, I’m here!” Xiao Ying pushed open the room door, holding a bowl of porridge in his hands.

“You were making porridge yourself again?”

Xiao Ying put the porridge on the bedside table and sat next to Mo Jingxuan as he gently massaged his waist, “Well, I thought you might need it…Are you very uncomfortable?”

Mo Jingxuan lay on his stomach and squinted his eyes in pleasure as he enjoyed the man’s massage, “It’s not bad.”

Xiao Ying kissed Mo Jingxuan’s forehead as he paused his work to take the bowl from the side. “You eat first, I’ll continue pressing after you finish.”

Burying his face into the pillow, Mo Jingxuan shook his head, “I haven’t brushed my teeth yet!”

“Be good, you can brush them after you’ve eaten.”

“…Fine.” Raising his head, Mo Jingxuan accepted Xiao Ying’s feeding, “You eat too!” He pushed the spoon that had been pressed to his lips up to Xiao Ying’s.

Xiao Ying smiled and ate the porridge before continuing to feed Mo Jingxuan.

Breakfast was only finished an hour later. Mo Jingxuan relaxed under the ministrations of Xiao Ying’s completed massage and washed up for a while before going downstairs. Today they had planned to go visit the veteran.

Seeing Mo Jingxuan going downstairs, Xiao Yao had a distressed face, “Jingxuan, what are you doing up? Go back and get some more sleep!” He had seen the state he was in last night when his son carried him inside, and it was not pretty.

Mo Jingxuan shook his head gently, “Dad, we still have things planned for today, but we’ll come back once the important things are done.”

Xiao Yao looked at Xiao Ying in disapproval; how dare he just stand there watching without trying to persuade Mo Jingxuan to stay home.

Hugging Mo Jingxuan, Xiao Ying was helpless as he explained, “He can’t stay at home.” Mo Jingxuan nodded in agreement.

Xiao Yao sighed meaningfully, “So that’s the case~ Young men, be restrained~.”

Taken aback for a moment, Mo Jingxuan’s face flushed beet red as he understood his words’ implications, and he dragged Xiao Ying out the door as if escaping.

It took the two of them a long time to arrive at their destination before they found Mo Jingxuan’s friend, Xiong Wu, from his past life.

Standing at the entrance of the low bungalow, Mo Jingxuan stared at the dark and strong young man in front of him as he wondered if he had found the wrong person, “Xiong Wu?”

Xiong Wu frowned, “Yes, who are you?”

“Retired scouts soldier?” Xiao Ying asked quietly.

Xiong Wu nodded, the vigilance in his eyes apparent.

“Don’t be so paranoid.” Feeling the tension in the air growing, Mo Jingxuan didn’t waste any more time, “We need you to follow someone for us.”

“It’s all legal and we’ll pay you well,” Xiao Ying added quickly.

Hesitating momentarily, the young man asked, “Who do you want me to follow? What else do you want me to do besides follow them?”

Mo Jingxuan asked a question first, “Do you know the Zhao family from the imperial capital?” Seeing Xiong Wu nodding, Mo Jingxuan took out a photo and continued, “The person we want you to follow is Zhao Qingyun’s daughter, Zhao Lingjun. All you’ll need to do is send us photos of who she meets and what she does. Of course, it would be even better if you could record video or audio, but it’s not needed.”

Xiong Wu looked at the two people with extraordinary auras in front of him with doubt, “Alright, I can follow her. But I’m curious about something else as well. How did you know me? I haven’t done anything like this before and I don’t think I’ve ever met either of you….”

Xiao Ying’s eyes darkened.

Mo Jingxuan coughed twice as he scrambled for an excuse, “I overheard someone talking about you.” In his heart, his thoughts were much more honest; no wonder this man was still living here. It turned out he hadn’t started this job yet in this life.

Although Xiong Wu didn’t believe him, he knew that rich people tended to dislike being questioned so much and didn’t continue to ask. Instead, he turned to the topic of the new job he was given, “Give me her photo and home address, along with a general overview of how she generally acts to your knowledge.”

Mo Jingxuan nodded and handed Zhao Lingjun’s photo to him along with the rest of the information he asked for. Finally, after paying half of the deposit, he left his contact information and left with Xiao Ying.

The two of them were debating about whether or not they should pay a visit to the Xiao company’s headquarters before going home and received a call halfway through their conversation.

Xiao Yao had called to inform them that Mo Zhenhao had published the newspaper like they had wanted, but the content was very unfavourable towards Mo Jingxuan.

Turning the steering wheel to go straight home, Xiao Ying frowned as he hung up the phone and gripped the steering wheel tightly, “I will solve it.”

Mo Jingxuan wasn’t worried, “I’m not sad, don’t worry. Although the public opinion of me might have dropped, if that’s needed to get rid of any entanglements with the Mo family then I can still be considered as having made a profit.”

Shaking his head, Xiao Ying disagreed, “You need a good image to be a businessman, I won’t let them ruin your future like this.”

Leaning sideways against the window, Mo Jingxuan didn’t argue; he knew that it would be useless to try and persuade Xiao Ying at all in this case.

Just as everyone was in an uproar that the Mo family had an eldest son, the news was released that he was so treacherous, deceitful, and unfilial that Mo Zhenhao had no choice but to throw him away.

Xiao Ying took the initiative to keep Mo Jingxuan at home for the first time since he had become human again as he left the next morning, taking Xiao Yao with him to the company.

At nine o’clock, Mo Jingxuan turned on the TV and saw a press conference being held by his baby.

Xiao Ying’s steady voice came through the speakers, every word a powerful syllable beating into his heart.

On TV———————-

It was Xiao Yao’s turn to be interviewed, and his words were just as comforting as he said, “I am grateful to the Mo family for giving up such as excellent son and allowing my Xiao family the opportunity to take him under our wings.”

He continued, “The eldest young master who has been abused by his so called family for so many years has really been slandered horribly this time. He deserves so much better!”

Xiao Yao was complaining for him, explaining the facts that Mo Zhanhao had distorted to the world. The love he felt towards him and the hate and anger towards Mo Zhenhao in his tone were so straightforward and authentic, even through the camera, that no one could deny it.

And his baby stepped up to say, “Mo Jingxuan is a part of the Xiao family.”

He said, “He is busy protecting us, so we will be protecting him. We will not stand for anyone slandering or bullying our family!”

Such simple words, but they contained infinite power. The stress and exhaustion hiding in Mo Jingxuan’s heart since his rebirth washed away as he cherished the loving words and hope meant for him.

Raising his hands to cover his sore eyes, Mo Jingxuan laughed softly. He, Mo Jingxuan, was really so lucky in this life to have such a family and such a lover.

The next day, Xiao Yao and Xiao Ying’s remarks at the press conference were reported on by all the major newspapers. Mo Zhenhao’s unkindness and discrimination towards his eldest son were even blown up to larger proportions than they were. Such a big family actually left their son, who had fallen into a coma in a servant’s room for more than ten years, until his existence was erased from the outside world. Later, when he woke up with much difficulty, he was directly abandoned so as to swallow the inheritance intended for him.

With Mo Jingxuan fighting back with the support of the Xiao family, it was unknown how the business world would change in the future.

However furious the Mo family became at the news, no one cared anymore. Mo Jingxuan told Xiao Ying and Xiao Yao that they had their own lives apart from those idiots, and he intended to let them live their lives.

The staff dormitory of the Ancient Tribe was finally finished, and the employees had been hired. The resort was officially open for business! Mo Jingxuan and Xiao Ying had changed the layout of the tribe slightly, having it encircle the hot spring area and adding some facilities to the common area and the tree houses. There was also another part that Xiao Yao had thought of, a VIP area set to only receive their most important customers in the future.

At the same time, Xiao Ying also graduated from college. Taking the opportunity of his graduation dinner, he sent invitations to everyone in his year to celebrate at the Ancient Tribe.

Walking in with Mo Jingxuan, the voices of the second generation of officials and heirs were full of admiration.

“So beautiful, so beautiful, so beautiful!” Exclaimed a girl from further in.

“Hsss, this environment is amazing!” A boy couldn’t hold in his wonder.

“The water is so pretty, I love it!”

“Look at the wooden houses! They look like they belong to the fey!”

“I still remember that dilapidated wooden house I built in the yard of my villa as a child. It was demolished the same day by the servants…This tree house is simply my white moonlight! I don’t think I would change anything at all!!”

“Brother Xiao, how did you know about this place?” The son of a certain official hooked his arm around Xiao Ying’s shoulder, “No one else has even mentioned such a wonderful place in our circle. If you hadn’t brought us here, we would have forever missed out on such a dream-like place!” Although his words were a bit exaggerated, the young man’s face was earnest as he spoke.

Mo Jingxuan squinted at the arm over Xiao Ying and calmly interposed between the two of them, saying, “This resort has just opened, we are the first batch of official visitors. Right now we are staying at the VIP area as a special exception.”

Suddenly squeezed out by a random man, the student was not angry as his eyes lit up at Mo Jingxuan’s words, “So that’s the case, then I should definitely bring my family to enjoy it in the future!”

Others echoed his words, “I want to bring my girlfriend!”

“I want to bring my old man!”

They cared more about the environment than the atmosphere, but that wouldn’t be the case for the older generation. People of their age were still vain and would want to show off their status as VIPs, and the older generation would visit purely for the experience. With such a place combining so many aspects into one, why not come visit more often?

Xiao Ying smiled at their words; everything was going as smoothly as Mo Jingxuan had said.

Mo Jingxuan called for them to quiet down, “I’ll take you all through the paths now. Although we’ll be leaving the VIP area, there is still a special atmosphere that everyone can enjoy.”

Everyone nodded and followed Mo Jingxuan’s footsteps. They circled around the land and went fishing once they made it back. Catching their own fish, picking their own vegetables, and cooking their own food. Although the taste might not be good, the fun in doing it made up for all the faults. Once night fell, everyone chose a room and changed into bathrobes to go soak in the hot springs and enjoy the bonfire party. The night was long and full of laughter.

Early the next morning, everyone woke up to the sound of the birds greeting them and ate a simple, natural breakfast before leaving the Ancient Tribe in a happy, content mood.

As for the advertising of the resort, Mo Jingxuan wasn’t worried. After all, what could be better than the loose mouths of college students after they’ve partied?
