Chapter 89 - Too brutal

Jinhee sat down on her bed and recalled all the words she directed towards Taehee. Her words were too brutal. Although Taehee annoyed her a lot, hate was too much of a strong word to describe what Jinhee felt towards that.

Even though Jinhee finally garnered up her courage, she didn't feel the satisfaction she originally thought she would. Remembering Taehee's voice and expression, Jinhee felt extremely guilty instead.

What she wanted in this life of hers was freedom, and being with Taehee wouldn't give her that. Although Jinhee was curious on what Taehee's last sentence meant, she knew that she had to forget about it if she wanted to maintain no relationship with Taehee.

'Did I go too far?'

Her thoughts were interrupted when Jinhee's phone rang, and trying to erase everything that occured today from her mind, Jinhee picked up the call. The call was from her Grandfather Dowon.

"It's been two days and yet you didn't find it important to call me at least once!" Lee Dowon voiced out his dissatisfaction in a scolding tone.

"Sorry, Grandpa Dowon," Jinhee voiced out in an apologetic tone. With things being hectic here, Jinhee forgot about contacting Lee Dowon.

"Sorry that you forgot I existed?" Dowon questioned. Anger could be noticeable in his tone.

"Grandpa Dowon, what type of souvenirs do you want? I'll bring anything you want," Jinhee said, trying to get at Dowon's good side.

Dowon coughed at the other side.

"I don't need anything. Did you visit the grave yet?" Dowon questioned— his tone turning solemn.

"I did, Grandpa Dowon," Jinhee answered. Unsure of how Dowon would react about it, Jinhee decided not to inform her grandfather on how she met Mrs. Min there.

Staring at the mansion in front of her, Jinhee was reluctant to click on the door bell. How would her biological father react he saw her?

Mustering up all her courage, Jinhee raised her hand up to press the doorbell. As the sound rang, Jinhee's heart beat rate quickened, and nervousness pervaded within Jinhee.

She could hear footsteps on the other side of the door and broke out in a cold sweat. The door in front of her opened, and Jinhee instantly faked a smile on her face.

"Come in, Jinhee-ah! We were just waiting for you," Min Sooah said with a friendly smile on her face.

It appeared genuine to Jinhee, but she knew that more caution should be maintained towards such type of people. Those who knew how to hide their intentions were truly scary. Then again, Jinhee did not know Sooah much to judge her.

Jinhee bowed politely and in a formal tone, voiced out, "Thank you for having me here."

Walking into their mansion, Jinhee scanned her eyes through the surrounding. Although the mansion was not that grand, it appeared cozy and warm from the inside; It gave off the feeling of a home.

As Sooah closed the door, Jinhee walked inside into the living room and saw a middle-aged man standing in front of her. Various expressions played on that man's face; Joy, excitement, regret, and sadness could be clearly deciphered.

Jinhee awkwardly stared at the male. His expressions did not show that he had abandoned Jinhee once and showed that he was longing for me. Nonetheless, it was too soon for Jinhee to actually believe that.

"Hello, Mr. Min," Jinhee said, adding a bow at the end.

Jinhee had no idea on what set of emotions she should express at this moment; If truth was told, she wasn't sure of what emotions she was currently feeling either.

"Jinhee-ah, you don't need to be that courteous," Min Yoojoon vocalised, pulling Jinhee up by holding her shoulders.

Jinhee blankly stared, waiting to see what Min Yoojoon would do further. What type of excuses would he come up with for abandoning her all these years?

"You have grown up well without my support. How have you been all these years?" Yoojoon's voice sounded sentimental.

"I am doing perfectly well, Mr. Min," Jinhee answered stiffly.

A smile that expressed his enthusiasm formed on Yoojoon's face, and he raised his hand to pat on Jinhee's head. But after noticing her aloof behaviour, he retracted his hand.

"Come in and have a seat."

Nodding, Jinhee sat on the couch, and the awkwardness within her increased. So far, Yoojoon or Sooah did not show any signs of being appalled by her.

"I'll go and bring something to eat for you," Sooah said, having a bright smile on her face.

Turning towards Yoojoon, Jinhee questioned, "How is Hyunbin now?"

Min Yoojoon sat on the couch beside the one she was sitting on, and letting out a sigh, he spoke out, "That boy, although he is completely healed currently, is looking for opportunities to create more trouble."

The silence between both of them continued before Yoojoon vocalised, "Y-You know that I'm your father?"

Jinhee nodded.

"You must want an answer as well why I wasn't beside your side for all these years?" Yoojoon questioned.

Jinhee nodded once more, not trusting her mouth with the words that might come out.
