Chapter 104 - At all costs

Tapping her foot impatiently on the tiled floor, Jinhee waited for Jaehyun to arrive. She was currently seated at the restaurant both of them were planning to meet at for breakfast. The restaurant was not frequented by the youngsters often and therefore, was selected by Jaehyun as the option. Two elderly couples were only present at that time in the restaurant, having their breakfast. Hearing the sounds of footsteps, Jinhee raised her head and looked at the yawning Jaehyun. Dark circles formed under his eyes, and he appeared to be tired. "I apologize for being late," Jaehyun stated while sliding back the chair and sitting down on it. "It's alright, but what happened to you?" Jinhee questioned— surprise present in her tone. Being a responsible idol, Jaehyun took great care of himself, and if he had showed up in this state, it must have been something serious might have happened. "I couldn't get a wink of sleep for that Han Taehee," Jaehyun voiced out. Judging by his tone, he seemed to be in a bad mood. Jinhee blinked her eyes once, twice, and then thrice. Staring at him, she widened her eyes due to shock whilst she absorbed in the words he voiced out. 'WHAT?! THEY WERE TOGETHER FOR THE NIGHT?!' "W-What?" Jinhee stuttered out. When Jaehyun realized how wrong his words sounded, he let out a cough and spoke out, "It's nothing like that; She bugged me the entire night to play video games with me." "Oh!" Jinhee exclaimed— the octaves being higher than she originally intended. Erasing all the indecent ideas from her mind, Jinhee questioned, "So, what was it that you wanted to talk on?" "Aren't you hungry? Let's have breakfast first," Jaehyun said before raising his hand. "Alright then," Jinhee replied. Last night, as she was feeding Taehee, she could not eat much herself, and her stomach felt quite hungry. A middle-aged woman came towards them with a notepad in her hand, and turning towards her,  Jaehyun spoke out his order. "I'll have rice with miso soup and grilled salmon. For the side dishes, tsukemono and kobachi." "I'll have the same," Jinhee voiced out. After the lady finished noting down their orders, she bowed and said, "I'll bring them over in fifteen minutes." With that, the lady walked away, and Jinhee tilted her head to turn her sight towards Jaehyun. Jaehyun appeared impassive as usual. "I heard that you will be going on a tour soon," Jinhee voiced out, attempting to start a friendly conversation with the boy in front of her. "Yes, to four or five countries, and it will last for around ten to fifteen days," Jaehyun spoke out. From the last life memories she recalled, the tour did not bring any trouble for Jaehyun, and her life at school was as usual as well. Therefore, she had no new worries in her head. "Tours must be fun; You get the chance to see so many countries," Jinhee commented with a smile on her face.  "Both tiring and fun, I suppose," Jaehyun replied. The Jinhee in her previous life would've done anything to have such a casual and comfortable conversation with Kim Jaehyun. "When school opens, be careful of Kwon Youngmi. Avoid her at all costs," Jaehyun said— his voice sounding completely serious. Creases appeared between both of her eyebrows due to surprise. The Jaehyun in her previous life was not aware of how dangerous or obsessive Youngmi was; As many, he took her to be someone innocent.  This made it easier for her to plot against her and create troubles between Jaehyun and her. Regarding this as a butterfly effect did not make any sense to Jinhee. "Why? Isn't she supposed to be the president's daughter? Moreover, she doesn't look like to someone who would cause trouble, so should not I try to get close to her instead?" Jinhee questioned, raising her eyebrow. "Judging one by one's appearance is a mistake you should avoid making," Jaehyun voiced out, pinching her nose. Jinhee internally sighed; She could not get any answer from Kim Jaehyun. "And about Taehee, you should stop with avoiding her although she acts oddly at times," Jaehyun spoke out, "At the end of the day, she doesn't want anything bad for you, and with me gone, she can protect you." "Look, Jaehyun, thank you for your concern, but I don't need Taehee to protect me. Since I have broken my friendship or whatever we had between us, I'm not going turn over to her just so that I can use her. Moreover, I'm not comfortable with her," Jinhee spoke out decisively. Jaehyun sighed. "What had happened to make you hate her so much?" Jaehyun asked. "About that, I'm sorry, but I can't give the actual reason. It's just that both of us are not compatible together," Jinhee voiced. "I won't force you if you're not comfortable, but if there is any misunderstanding, you should get it cleared. After all, don't leave any regrets."
