Chapter 201 - No other option

Lee Yeonwoo's hands trembled as she stared at Jinhee in front of her, and her countenance visibly paled. Her heart palpitated rapidly in her chest, and nervousness brewed within her. Her eyes clearly showed how frightened she was at this moment.

"M-Min Hyunbin? Ah! Yeah, I have heard about him from my fellow classmates," Yeonwoo answered whilst trying her best to force out a smile on her face.

Taehyun waved his hands at the other waiters and waitresses, and understanding what Taehyun was trying to indicate, all of them bowed. Nodding, they walked away from the scene despite being curious.

"Well, can you take a seat, Yeonwoo-ssi? I have a few questions for you," Jinhee vocalised.

With her shivering hands, Yeonwoo pulled back the chair whilst trying her best to maintain a composed expression. Sitting upon the chair, Yeonwoo fidgeted with her fingers.

"Did you go to the trip to Hwaseong Fortress, Yeonwoo-ssi?" Lee Jinhee questioned whilst her eyes scanned Yeonwoo's expression.

Lee Yeonwoo nodded and voiced out, "Yes, I did, Miss Jinhee. However, did anything happen?"

"So you must know about the incident that happened with Hyunbin, right?"

Jinhee noticed how Yeonwoo's eyes widened for a fraction of a second before Yeonwoo answered, "Y-Yeah, I did from my classmates."

"You did not see him there?" Lee Jinhee raised one of her eyebrows.

Lee Yeonwoo shook her head and vocalised, "I was busy at that moment helping one of my friends so I was unable to be at the scene."

"Ah! Is that so?" Jinhee stated.

She then asked, "Yeonwoo-ssi, do you mind watching a video?"

As Han Taehyun took out the laptop from his bag, the anxiety within Yeonwoo intensified. Taehyun placed the laptop on top of the table. After Taehyun opened a particular video clip, he turned the laptop around and showed it towards Yeonwoo.

"It would be great if you could give your opinion on this," Lee Jinhee added.

Lee Yeonwoo's eyes widened as she watched the video in front of her. The video clearly recorded everything she had done— lubricating the staircase. Yeonwoo did not expect anyone to catch her this fast.

Sliding her chair back, Yeonwoo immediately stood up and bowed repeatedly. Sweat dripped off her face, and tears formed at the corner of her eyes.

"I am sorry; I am really sorry. Please forgive me. It was not my intention to do it. I am sorry. I am really sorry," Lee Yeonwoo repeated.

"Because of you, a person very nearly died, and that's all you can say. I am sorry? Do you even have a conscience, Yeonwoo-ssi?" Lee Jinhee questioned. Her voice giving off her mockery.

Lee Yeonwoo bowed and said, "I am really sorry. I had no other option but to do it."

Jinhee asked, "No other option?"

Lee Yeonwoo frantically moved her hands around and stated, "No, nevermind. I did it. No one was directing me, and I did it because I did not like Hyunbin. He was absolutely annoying, and I wanted to teach him a lesson."

Lee Jinhee arched her eyebrows, and propping her face on her hand, Jinhee vocalised, "Saying that now makes you more suspicious. Yeonwoo-ssi, if you reveal the one behind you, I can assure you that your punishment might get lightened. Think smartly."

Lee Yeonwoo bowed and vocalised, "No, there is no one behind me. I did it on my own and am willing to take the responsibility."

"I guess we will have to involve the police then. You are aware of which family is behind me, right? Things would not be much difficult with the Han Family's influence," Jinhee pointed out.

From what Lee Jinhee had investigated about Yeonwoo, she knew that Yeonwoo's father's business was currently in a plight, leading her to work part-time on the weekends.

If police were to get involved, her father's business might get worse, and Jinhee had an inkling that Yeonwoo was threatened with her father's business by whoever was behind her.

Lee Yeonwoo's eyes widened, and she exclaimed, "Police will be involved? Can't I go and directly settle it with the victim's family? I am willing to do everything they want, but please don't get the police involved. I beg you."

"If you try to hide the truth, I will need to get the police involved in order to reveal the truth. However, I can assure you that you will be free from police's effect if you tell the truth yourself.

I can promise you that. Whoever is threatening you, Yeonwoo-ssi, I will protect you from them. You have my word. At the end of the day, which family has the most power?" Jinhee voiced out.

Lee Jinhee's words made Yeonwoo go into deep thought, and Yeonwoo was unable to decide. Lee Yeonwoo bit her lips as she sat down upon her chair.

After thinking for a few seconds, Yeonwoo let out a sigh and voiced out, "Jinhee-ssi, I am the one who did it. There is no one behind me, and you can get the police involved to investigate the entire thing."

Lee Yeonwoo was not entirely sure whether or not she could completely trust Lee Jinhee. That person said that she will completely destroy her father's business, and if the police get involved, at least her father's business would not be affected.

Even if the police investigates, they wouldn't be able to find the leads to discovering that person. That person did everything very meticulously, and now that Yeonwoo decided to do this, she had to take the responsibility.

"If you have nothing to say, Miss Jinhee, then I have to leave. I have work to do at this moment," Lee Yeonwoo vocalised.

Standing up, Lee Yeonwoo bowed towards Jinhee, and turning her back to Jinhee, Yeonwoo began to walk away.

Lee Jinhee let out a sigh at what she was going to do. Although Jinhee did not want to utter such words, she knew that she had to do it.

Staring at Yeonwoo's distancing back, Jinhee vocalised, "I did not want to come to this, but you forced me, Yeonwoo-ssi. I wonder how long will it take for me to destroy your family's business?

One week? Five days? Three days? Oh! Right! I have heard that your father is a heart patient, right? I wonder what will happen when he gets to learn about it."
