Even after Jinhee had washed it, the water did not dry off immediately, and it was very much visible upon her clothes. She just hoped nobody would be staring at her.
Walking towards Han Taeho, she stood beside him. As nonchalance sat upon his face, his hands were tucked into his pocket. Not much of the guests stared at them any longer, and they began to chat around. That was a relief to Jinhee for she didn't want to be the center of attention.
"What happened?" Han Taeho questioned whilst he stared towards Jinhee.
His eyes fell upon the stain upon her dress before he added, "I apologize for being unable to help you this time around."
Han Taeho's apologize had lack of emotions, and Jinhee could see that he did not mean it. Nonetheless, hearing an apology from Taeho did not happen regularly.
"I managed," Jinhee answered.
Using his hands, Han Taeho unbuttoned the coat he was wearing, and swiftly, he removed it. His actions attracted the eyes of many.
Nonetheless, unbothered by all those eyes, Taeho placed the coat around Jinhee's shoulder, taking her aback.
Jinhee's eyes widened for she did not expect such an action from Han Taeho. But knowing how she was his fiancée now, she knew that he was doing this to protect his reputation mostly.
After Jinhee placed her hand through the sleeves, he buttoned up the coat, and his actions made a small smile form upon her face.
Looking towards him, she voiced out, "Thank you."
Han Taeho's coat did not appear to be much baggy on her, and with it on, the stain from the water could be hidden properly.
From the corner of her eyes, Jinhee could see Kim Jaehyun entering into the room and noticed Kwon Youngmi walking over to him. Now, their eyes shifted from her and Taeho to them.
From Jaehyun's expression, he did not appear to be much happy about seeing Youngmi. However, it wasn't the same case for his parents, who wore a wide smile upon their faces.
Jinhee took in a deep breath.
°°°
As she danced along with Han Taeho, Jinhee found it being slightly unrealistic. Never in her life did Jinhee ever think about dancing with Taeho. Everything changed so much in this life of hers, and Jinhee was curious to know whose hand was behind this.
"What are you thinking so deeply about?" Han Taeho questioned.
"Just about how life changes so drastically," Jinhee voiced out, "In less than two months, everything just became like something out of dream.".
"I can probably relate to that," Taeho mumbled, "When I realized that I was given a second chance to redo everything, I found myself unable to believe it.
I was scared of making the same mistakes again and careful before making each moves. I was grateful as well for whoever chose me for this although it was merely for revenge."
Jinhee clearly heard Taeho's words and nodded. Expecting him to feel guilty— although that would be great— would be foolish. Knowing Taeho's line of work, people received worse treatment than she did, and he wouldn't able to be on the top if he felt guilty for all of this.
"What are you going to do after you finish your revenge?" Jinhee questioned, "Start anew?"
Han Taeho shook his head and voiced out, "Starting anew seems nice, but I am too tainted for that."
From the corner of her eyes, Jinhee could see that Jaehyun and Youngmi dancing, and both of them seemed to perfectly flow along with the music. Their dance captured everyone's eyes.
Jaehyun and Youngmi moved towards her whilst dancing. After they danced beside them, Jaehyun turned to face Taeho.
He then asked, "Mr. Han Taeho, you wouldn't mind if I borrow Jinhee for a while, right?"
Han Taeho shook his head and let go of Jinhee's hand. Jaehyun did the same with Youngmi, and Youngmi reluctantly left his hand.
Although a smile was forced upon her face, Youngmi cursed at Jinhee mentally. Wearing a smile on her face, Jinhee moved towards Youngmi, and before going over to Jaehyun, her hand touched the skirt of Youngmi's dress.
Jaehyun grasped Jinhee's hand and both of them began to dance whilst Taeho went back to his original place. Feeling humiliated on her own birthday party, Youngmi stepped towards one of the corner of the room.
As Jinhee danced with Jaehyun, she let out a chuckle and asked, "Did you use me as a shield against Kwon Youngmi?"
Jaehyun replied, "So far, in this party, you're the only I would prefer to dance with."
"Hush! Don't be too loud or I will be strangled by those fans of yours. All of them are currently shooting me glares," Jinhee voiced out whilst a light-hearted expression sat on her face.
"It's nice to see that you have finally relaxed. That stiff expression on your face was funny," Jaehyun vocalised.
"Stiff? I thought I was doing a good job, but it seems that such parties aren't my thing," Jinhee voiced out.
Lowering her voice, Jinhee whispered, "If it wasn't for the fact that she was President's daughter, I wouldn't have come here."
Jaehyun's eyes stared at Jinhee whilst an amused expression sat in them. It was nice to see that Jinhee was starting to get comfortable around him, and as Jaehyun's heart began to beat rapidly within his chest, he hoped that he could control these feelings of his.
"You don't seem to particularly like her either," Jinhee pointed out.
Jaehyun vocalised, "That's weak to describe my feelings towards her. Hate would be an understatement as well."
Hearing those words from Jaehyun, Jinhee couldn't help but be shocked. What could have happened for such a change to appear within Jaehyun?
"Why such strong feelings towards her?" Jinhee asked.
She then added, "She seems to fancy you, and you aren't the one to hate your fans."
"That's because she had hurt something precious to me," Jaehyun said as his eyes stared upon Jinhee. Deep, indecipherable emotions were shown in his eyes.
