Chapter 1636 The Guard Station

1636 The Guard Station

Vyra tried to shut the door tight, but Ning's spear made it impossible to. She tried to kick it out, but Ning didn't let her.

"I'll call the guards if you don't leave this house right now," the woman shouted at Ning.

"You want to send away the only person saving your life right now?" he asked. "The captain will come here at any time and I doubt he will want to leave you with your life for what you did to his daughter."

The woman froze a little but quickly acted as though she did not know.

"Guards!" she began screaming and people from the streets looked toward her. Some people gathered around and soon two guards rushed up to the door.

"Hey! Stop it," the guards began shouting, one of them grabbing Ning from the back and pulling on him.

Ning let the spear fly to the small bushes on the side while he raised his hands. "I'm not doing anything," he said as he turned around.

"Miss, are you okay?" the guard asked. He was a tall man with a well-built body, holding a large baton in his hand. Nôv(el)B\\jnn

The other one was slightly thinner, with a thick mustache, and he pulled Shara to the side and began questioning what happened here. Shara looked toward Ning and pointed at him so he could start explaining.

Ning began his explanation.

The two guards were surprised to hear that Ning was a Spirit Detective. Vyra seemed similarly surprised as well.

"I was with the man of this house earlier, and his departed daughter's spirit lurks around him still. I looked into the young girl's memories and saw this woman pour some unknown powder into the girl's medicine. Day by day, the girl's health deteriorated until she finally passed away."

The group of people that were there were more than stunned to hear that. Immediately people began talking in whispers, wondering how true this was.

"That's- That's a lie!" the woman shouted. "He's lying."

The guards looked at the woman and then at Ning. "I'll need the both of you to come to our station really quick so we can discuss this further," the guard said.

Ning was a little surprised to notice that quest pop-up. After everything that had happened so far, why was it popping up now? Was there a reason for it?

This was a simple way to earn a point anyway, so Ning didn't bother with the quest. He could just show them his license and get the—

Ning paused, his eyes slowly widening with shock. He... couldn't show them his license at all.

That was the easiest way to prove who he was, but he couldn't do it at all because it held his name, and that was a serious issue. People were bound to send notice for others to catch him and Shara, so he had to keep his name a secret for now.

Thankfully, he was prepared on the name part when he had made a story for himself and Shara, but he hadn't decided how he was going to go around the Spirit Detective issue.

"I am one," Ning said, quickly answering so as to not delay any further. "If you wish it so, I can show you my power."

"Can you prove that you can see a Spirit?" the young man asked.

Ning was a little surprised by the question. He was going to show him the power. He hadn't expected to have to show him that he could see a Spirit.

"I can do that too," Ning said. "But Spirits aren't as easy to come around."

"That's alright," the man said. "Come with me. I need to go somewhere with you."

"Okay..." Ning said and turned around. "Mora, stay here. I'll be right back."

Shara raised an eyebrow, hearing the name they had made up before coming here. It appeared that here, she was going to be Mora, and Ning was going to be Maurice.

She nodded and Ning walked away.

"Where are we going?" Ning asked the young guard.

"Just somewhere where there are bound to be a lot of Spirits," the man said. "Hopefully."
