Chapter 1159: Sea witches (2)
A surprised and slightly confused look appeared on the Merman King's face when he heard this.
He didn't answer right away as he looked at me with this strange look for a bit, but he eventually said, "Why are you asking about this?"
I didn't answer as I just calmly looked at him with a serious look on my face.
The Merman King looked even more confused when he heard this, but he eventually called for someone and said a few things to them before they ran off. It didn't take long for that person to come back with a stack of what seemed like seaweed.
It was better to call them kelp leaves with the way that they were shaped, but that wasn't the important thing.
The important thing was what was on these kelp leaves.
It seemed that this was the thing that was used as paper in the Merman Empire.
That wasn't strange since paper would get soaked under the water, so there was no way of actually using paper.
What was written on these pieces of kelp were reports on the sea witches.
For the Merman Empire, the sea witches could be considered one of the dangers near them, which was why it made sense that they kept an eye on them.
In the game, the sea witches were actually mermaids that had once studied a different form of magic than the normal mermaids of the Merman Empire. However, they were shunned and cast out because of the magic that they studied, which was what resulted in the sea witches.
From time to time, there were mermaids that went to the side of the sea witches, but mostly they captured mermen to reproduce.
That was what caused the friction between the Merman Empire and the sea witches.
But the fact that the Merman Empire didn't go all out against the sea witches showed how powerful the magic that they studied was.
It was to the point where the Merman Empire didn't want to take the risk to go against them. That was why there was the divide between the Merman Empire and the sea witches. However, that didn't mean that the Merman Empire wanted to let the sea witches continue to exist.
After a long silence, he finally asked, "Why do you want to reconcile with them? They clearly won't listen to anything that anyone says, so why would they want to listen to us?"
It seemed that there was some kind of hidden grudge that was in his voice when he said this, almost as if there was something personal between him and the sea witches.
It didn't seem like this would be good for what I was trying to do, but...
"It's not just me, Lord Aquaron also wishes to see you reconcile since you are all mortals that are living in his domain."
Since it was something personal, I had to bring in god.
Compared to his personal grudges, his devotion to the gods should outweigh any personal feelings that he had. So as long as Aquaron was involved, he shouldn't be that against this
matter.
There was a look of difficulty and struggle that appeared on the Merman King's face when he heard this.
He looked at me as if he was trying to figure out if I was being serious or not.
So I just calmly opened my hand and showed him the button that Aquaron gave me.
The moment that he saw this button, the expression on his face seemed to relax a bit as awe filled it.
It was clear that the Merman King recognized the button that was in my hand as a relic of
Aquaron.
There was no better proof that I had met with Aquaron than this button.
Since I had this button, the Merman King had no choice but to accept that my words were true.
He once again looked at me with a complicated look before saying with a sigh, "Let me tell you a story."
