Chapter 19 - “Do not let go of him! Or I shall call the police!” (4)
The glow of the sunset in the mountains was beautiful in the evening. It covered splendidly over most of the sky. As the sky slowly got dark, the glow painted different intensity of gold over the mountains.
When the wind blew, the trees waving in the valleys made the glow looked like waves among the mountains. The scene was very breathtaking.
6 PM, Gu Nian and her team arrived at the hotel in town in the glowing light of the sunset.
The filming location of Demons was inside ravine but this was not the first time a filming team had came here for filming. The local area had developed into a tourist spot and there was commercial streets in town – it did not remotely measure up to what one would see in a big city but it could, however, provide a bare minimum comfortable living situation.
For example, the 8-story tall Xingyue Hotel branch that stood proudly in the middle of town overlooking the entire area.
“So the actors get to stay in a hotel but we have to stay in farm houses? This is blatant social status discrimination,” said Jiang Xiaoqing disgruntledly.
Gu Nian turned around and held their hands. “You sure you don’t want to come with?”
Qin Yuanyuan, “I need to go get some necessities and Xiaoqing is going to come with.”
Jiang Xiaoqing nodded quickly. “She’s right. Plus, we don’t want to be there during the reunion of you and your son.”
Gu Nian smiled cheerfully. “And you don’t want to check out the handsome man then?”
Jiang Xiaoqing, “Aiya, don’t tempt me! We are going to work working together. I’m sure I will get to meet him sooner or later!”
Gu Nian didn’t press for it. “Alright then.”
The three of them bid their farewells and Gu Nian walked inside of the hotel by herself.
Having the actors stayed in the hotel was more than just budget but also to prevent individual actors being ambushed by their fans. Hotel has better security. Gu Nian was only able to get inside with her badge that was given to her by the director.
Luo Xiu was staying on the 7th floor of the hotel.
Gu Nian took the elevator up and, following the information of room 717, figured out which way she needed to go, and walked inside of the hallway on the right-hand side of the elevator lobby.
The carpet was soft and made almost no sound when one was walking on it. The lighting in the hallway was a bit on the dim side making the room numbers different to read. Gu Nian had to walk up to each and every single one of them to look.
“709, 711, 713…”
Gu Nian kept on walking forward as she recited quietly.
A plaintive female voice suddenly tore through the silence of the long hallway.
“Here I thought it is someone with an identical name but it really is you. How come you didn’t tell me that you will be here?”
“?”
Gu Nian paused in her way.
She looked up.
The sound came from not too far away ahead of her. Perhaps someone did not shut their room door completely. To further confirm her speculation, there was a rectangular block of light the shape of a door casted on the floor a few meters ahead of her.
Gu Nian took a small step forward hesitantly.
The sound rang again.
“You don’t know me? What do you mean by you don’t know me? I…” The female voice was getting emotional except the source of the voice seemed to be blocked by something so Gu Nian couldn’t quite catch every word of it.
Treading lightly, Gu Nian picked up her pace.
She was getting closer and close to the light block and she just hoped that she could walk past the room before the people in side noticed her.
She took a step into the light.
“I don’t believe it! They all like me. How could you not desire me?!”
“……”
Gu Nian had no expression on her. Perhaps there really isn’t much one can do when a man is incapable.
She took a second step into the light as she commented to herself.
This time, before Gu Nian could even put her foot down, the female voice next to her became very audible all of a sudden –
“Let me prove it to you!”
Crackle. Bang!
“?”
The sound seemed to have come from immediately next to her. That made Gu Nian stopped reflexively.
The air remained silent for a few second.
Gu Nian turned her head slowly.
What she saw was the ajar room door next to her.
A thin and tall man in white was pressed against the wall by a woman in a tight, mini skirt. His wet hair drooped down and covered up half of his brows and eyes. What it didn’t cover was his tall nose and his fierce, thin lips.
Ebony hair, white skin, red lips. The beauty from contrasting color combination and the invasiveness were perfectly illustrated on that outstanding side profile. It was particularly charming when his emotion was also mixed in it.
Albeit his emotion being…
Cold resentment.
Gu Nian’s first thought after she had recollected herself was the turn away. Nevertheless, the woman’s hateful look from her “forceful act” being interrupted had already fallen upon her –
“Who are you?!”
“A passerby.”
Gu Nian felt very unjust that the woman had directed her anger at her. She did not, after all, stopped there on purpose. It was reflex when she was startled.
Her eyes drooped and her voice monosyllabic, “Pardon me. I didn’t mean to interrupt. Off I go.”
After a 45-degree rotation, Gu Nian stopped and her dragged out voice light and languid. “A word of advice – I strongly suggest you close the door first before you carry on your business at a hotel.”
Gu Nian took off before the woman could stare at her again.
After she had walked away, Gu Nian see the room number on the door next to her: 719.
Gu Nian slowed down.
Odd numbers on her right-hand side.
719 was this one next to her.
So her precious son was in the room that she had just walked past.
So the beauty with no glasses on who was being forced was…
Gu Nian, “??!!”
Inside Room 717.
With his glasses fallen off during the struggle earlier, there was nothing else hiding those clear and dark eyes and the last shred of pretense of warm had disappeared.
Luo Xiu looked up. His eyes cold like ice.
“You…”
Rapid footsteps returned to the front.
The girl who looked like she was half asleep just a moment ago was standing outside of the room with her cellphone held up high, her look solemn.
Gu Nian was only too anxious to protect her “son”. After struggling between “Don’t move” and “Let go of him” for 0.1 second, she finally shouted out –
“Don’t let go of him!
“Or I am going to call the cops!!”
