Chapter 36 - “Brother Luo, do you think she is, perhaps, mocking you?” (1)

After yet another half of a hellish week, the script for youtanhua, the added third male lead character, had finally been completed.

Demon written by Gu Nian and her screenwriting team was a fantasy story involving reincarnation.

In the story constructed in the screenplay, there were five clans in the world – fairies, demons, buddhas, humans, and devils.

Among them, fairies and buddhas lived in the upper world, also known as heaven; humans and demons live in the middle world, also known as the human world; devils were the only ones that lived in the dark underworld where nothing grew.

The story of the previous life started in the first year of the Tianqi era (1621) where a peerless genius was born. The moment that he was born, abnormal phenomena was observed and all five clans were rattled. The elders of the five clans perform divinations and all of them arrived at the conclusion that this boy would achieve great things. But he would also fall into the underworld. By then, many would be slaughtered and the heaven would be replaced.

The other four clans would live in fear and referred to him as the “devil’s spawn”.

The name of the devil’s spawn was Wang Wuya. He grew at a very rapid rate. The four clans tried to kill him but all of their plans were foiled with their people injured. As his families, friends, and teachers began to betray him one by one, Wang Wuya began to rebel and his ways became more and more ruthless. As his ability grew at an unstoppable rate, all of the sudden, each and every being in the other four clans were in grave danger.

At the most critical moment, a saint from the human world came out of the mountains and casted a lovelock spell on him. The spell bound the devil’s spawn with the princess of the fairy clan – from that moment forward, Wang Wuya had fallen deeply in love with the princess of the fairy clan and his actions were, therefore, restrained.

The female lead of Demons was none other than Ding Qiao. She was a little demon living at the bottom of the hill where the fairy princess resided.

She was an arbor who was capable of transformation. She gained consciousness from the aura of the princess and, as such, her look resembled that of the fairy princess. The only difference was that the fairy princess was noble and elegant but the arbor was flirtatious, lively, and possessed the ability to seduce those who had seen her.

Wang Wuya, being stopped by powers from both the fairy and the buddha clans, had failed at courting the fairy princess. When he returned defeated, he ran into the little demon, who had just gained her consciousness, playing in a hot spring. He captured her and looked at her as the replacement for the princess. And, as she looked somewhat similar to the princess, Wang Wuya treated her sometimes better than others while keeping her locked up deep within the palace.

Ding Qiao, who had been by herself her entire life had quickly fallen madly in love with Wang Wuya, the devil’s spawn that everybody else wanted to be rid of but also the first person who has ever been nice to her.

Things changed and the warfare between the five clans erupted. The fairy, buddha, and human clans joined forces in destroying the devil clan. They were to capture Wang Wuya using a trap set by the fairy princess, bring down the world-destroying thunder, and annihilate him completely .

Little demon Ding Qiao found out about the plan from her demon friends and tried as hard as she could to dissuade Wang Wuya from going. She fed Wang Wuya a poison made out of seven different plants that she had begged for from the demon clan that would put Wang Wuya into a deep sleep for seven days. Then, using her ability to transform, she turned into Wang Wuya and headed for the trap.

The devil’s spawn had an unusual physique and the poison only lasted for seven hours in him. When he woke up and saw the note left by Ding Qiao, Wang Wuya was frantic and he rushed toward the Devil-Corroding Valley.

Yet when he reached there, the entire valley was charred and not a single piece of grass could be seen within miles. Where the world-destroying thunder had struck, there was a seemingly bottomless pit where no lives could be detected.

The lowly little demon who had always had her arms wrapped around him and smiled at him that he had looked down upon had been… destroyed, annihilated, for him.
