Chapter 60 - “Em, I will… sit down and get myself familiar with it?” (1)

After sending away both Zong Shizi and Luo Xiu, Gu Nian continued to reason with the two directors while trying to stop herself from having a break down.

“Director Lin, I am a screenwriter and not an actress. When have you ever seen a screenwriter doing the acting part in person?”

“Nobody asked you to be an actress.”

“A body double is still an actor!”

“You can’t even call this a body double. It’s just a short scene of you falling onto a lap and getting back up from it. Only your back would be seen and Zong Shizi will even dub the dialog later on. What kind of body double is that?”

“… you are just splitting hair now.”

“Well, am I wrong? Besides, it’s not like we are not forcing you into this. You were the one who said in front of Luo Xiu and Zong Shizi just a little while ago that you will do anything as long as we don’t delete the scene.”

“… …”

Gu Nian, who had fallen into the trap, grinded her teeth and looked up expressionlessly. “So, when you said you were coming in here to give Director Geng a heads up, what you have really done was to set the trap for me in cahoots?”

Assistant Director Lin gave her a very friendly smile. “What are you talking about?”

Gu Nian, “… …”

They were all old, sly foxes.

It was a rarity for Assistant Director Lin to see the languid little fox falling for his trap. The more dispirited she was, the brighter his smile. “Well, are you going to do it or not?”

“Do I have choice?”

“Huh? Why wouldn’t you have a choice?” Assistant Director Lin feigned an innocent look.

“If I say ‘no’, you will for sure tell me regretfully that you have no choice but to delete Luo Xiu’s scene, right?”

“AHAHAHAHAHAH.”

Assistant Director Lin laughed out loud heartedly. He pointed at Gu Nian as he laughed. His finger waving up and down in front of her. “You have always been the most difficult person to fool. If you weren’t distracted from caring too much about Luo Xiu, I am still not sure that you will fall for this.”

“… …”

Gu Nian’s eyes drooped down dispirited and she sighed to herself.

Sure enough. She was still too young and had underestimated her opponents. But, for the time being, this did seem like the only way to keep her precious son’s scene from being deleted… …

Outside of the conference room.

Luo Xiu and Zong Shizi walked out one after the other. The little assistant waited outside the room and walked up to them as soon as he saw them. “Brother Luo…. Miss, Miss Zong?”

Zong Shizi nodded politely at the little assistant in return and, after a little bit of hesitation, said to Luo Xiu politely and cautiously after the door was closed behind her, “Mr. Luo, my mother asked me to say hi to you.”

“?”

Luo Xiu turned around. There wasn’t a lot of emotions in his eyes.

Zong Shizi went on to explain. “My mother is my agent. She was the one who asked me to take care of the matters for Mr. Luo. Don’t worry. I did not say a word to anyone else.”

Luo Xiu nodded. “Thank you.”

Zong Shizi was taken aback a little. That was not the reply she had expected. She looked up reflexively and looked into the pair of dark brown eyes before they looked away from her.

Even though he was thanking her, but there was not a hint of warmth in those cold eyes. Even when he was looking straight at her face that was generally accepted as pretty, there was no stirring in his eyes whatsoever.

No wonder rumors had it that the Luo’s young master was very unworldly and only wanted to join the temple. The only mystery was why was he at a production team… …

Zong Shizi, suddenly recalling something, said apologetically in a low voice. “I didn’t know that the two directors were going to suggest for the screenwriter to be my body double before you walked inside so I didn’t have a chance to tell you about it. If Mr. Luo didn’t want to get involved, I can object to that again with the director team and stop that from happening.”

“It’s fine.”

“Eh? But that way you will be filming the intimate scene with that screenwriter… …”

Zong Shizi looked up in surprise.

The sun had already set outside of the window and the lights were on in the hallway. The man, standing in the blurry light, had a hint of a cold smile on his lips.

He didn’t turn around nor did he look at Zong Shizi. His voice was gentle as usual, “It’s fine.”
