Chapter 218 - "How did a screenwriter variety show turn into a all-paid-for romantic trip?" (1)
City P was a city with a long coastal line. On the other side of the strait were a few islands that looked like stardust scattered in the ocean.
The biggest of these islands had been developed into commercial areas, medium-sized ones turned into tourist areas, and the small ones could be rented by private individuals or turned into resorts, etc.
The first season of Gold-Medal Screenwriter had rented a mid-small private island for an entire week as their shooting location.
Walking out of the City P airport, Gu Nian and Luo Xiu were picked up by waiting workers who then drove them to the pier.
Gu Nian had already stepped onto the boat in a daze when the little team lead in the crew was telling her about the destination of their trip.
Gu Nian tried to get some more information out of him, so she asked the team lead in a roundabout way, “Isn’t that a lot of money to rent an island for the filming of the first season?”
The little team lead said expressionlessly, “It’s alright. Not my money.”
Gu Nian, “……”
Supposed this team lead had no idea what being subtle was. Gu Nian, too, took a more straightforward approach. “Are there any specific reasons that we must film this on an island?”
The little team lead was still expressionless. “If I had all the answers, it wouldn’t be me who’s picking Miss Gu up right now.”*
Gu Nian, “…………”
Gu Nian gave up for a few seconds before she picked up where she left off. “The shooting is about to start soon. You should have some ideas about the agenda?”
The little team lead finally had somewhat of an expression this time. He turned around, gave Gu Nian a smile somewhere between contempt and sincerity and said, “I have poison hidden in my molar. If you keep interrogating me, I’ll kill myself.”
Gu Nian, “…………”
What a man.
He should have been a spy.
Were there no normal people at the entire BH Media?
Gu Nian gave up trying to gain any useful information from the worker with sealed lips. She sighed and walked back to where she was.
Luo Xiu turned around from the deck on the aft of the boat when he heard her returning.
Gu Nian walked over to him with a shriveled-up look. Looking at the coastline that was getting further and further away from them, she sighed and said, “I have a bad feeling.”
“Hmm?”
“We had literally gotten onto the private boat.”
Luo Xiu was taken aback a little. Then, lowering his eyes, he smiled slightly. “Are you scared?”
“Of, of course not,” said Gu Nian in a not-so-convincing tone. Having said that, she hesitated for a couple of seconds before she looked at Luo Xiu decisively. “But don’t you worry. Even if there are demons, monsters, or evil dragons on the island, I’ll protect you.”
Luo Xiu’s eyes wavered a little. “Okay.”
“……”
The sea was calm today and Gu Nian and Luo Xiu were able to arrive at the island for the filming of the first season of Gold-Medal Screenwriter without experiencing too much turbulence.
The island was a privately-owned resort that had boarding, food, and basic amenities provided. Once they deboardedthe boat, the workers led Gu Nian and Luo Xiu to a row of cabins on the beach that was elevated above the sand.
All of the cabins faced the ocean. All one needed to do was to slide open the sliding door and they would be able to feel the sea breeze under the sun.
Gu Nian was taken to the front of her cabin. Her plan was to drop off her suitcase before going to meet up with her precious son.
The second that she opened the door and stepped inside, she immediately saw a large camera – workers from the filming crew walked up to her with a happy you-are-finally-here look.
Gu Nian reflexively took a step back.
“It’s okay. It’s okay.” The worker tried his best to maintain his friendly smile. “It’s just a pop interview from the show, for warmup purposes.”
“Pop interview? Nobody mentioned it to me.”
As she said, Gu Nian turned around to look behind her. She noticed that the expressionless little team lead who had led her there was already gone.
Gu Nian, “……”
