Chapter 219 - "How did a screenwriter variety show turn into a all-paid-for romantic trip?" (2)
As though noticing that Gu Nian had given up struggling, the interviewer’s smile became more sincere. He gestured behind him, “You are Screenwriter Gu Nian, right? Here, have a seat. I only have a few very, very simple questions. All of the other guests will be asked the same questions. You are not the only one.”
It is what it is.
Giving up further struggling, Gu Nian went inside the room with her suitcase in tow.
Outside of the floor-to-ceiling sliding door was a wooden patio, beach, seagulls, the ocean, the sun, and the blurred and wavering horizon.
Gu Nian sat down on the rattan chair on the patio and her eyes drooped languidly.
She had always wondered if she just might be Leonardo da Vinci who only slept 90 minutes a day in her previous life. That would explain why she spent every extra second in this lifetime feeling sleepy or napping.
She felt particularly sleepy under the sun and light.
The voice of the interviewer seemed to have reached her ear from the bottom of the ocean. “Let’s get started then. Our first question for Screenwriter Gu is: Why did you decide to be a part of Gold-Medal Screenwriter?”
Gu Nian struggled to keep her eyelids up so they wouldn’t cover up the windows to her soul. “For the money?”
“……”
The smile froze on the interviewer.
“Is, is there anything else, Screenwriter Gu?”
“Hmm.” The girl put a lot of effort into keeping her eyes open while not looking sleepy. “Such as?”
“Such, such as.” The interviewer maintained his stiff smile. “An opportunity to get the attention of more producers?”
“……”
The girl, her head resting on her head, “pondered” over it. Suddenly, her head fell forward. Startled awake, she quickly sat up straight and kept her face straight while looking up solemnly. “That’s exactly it.”
Interviewer, “…………”
This interview was intended to be used as an introduction as the opening of the first episode. The production team had very little hope that it would be interesting in any way. Sure enough, all of the other guests’ ones were very standard. Only Gu Nian’s part made the editors bust out laughing during the post-production editing phase.
As such, she had successfully gained the fondness of the editors and earned the most screen time by default.
She was also very well received with the audiences as well.
[Wow, she’s a new screenwriter? Her looks and aura are both good enough to be an actress!]
[She looks so sleepy that I could see bubbles coming out of her nose. Hahahaha]
[She’s so cute. I want to rub her on her head]
[Did the unconscientious filming crew keep her up all night long? Look at how tired she was!]
[That’s me during my mathematics classes]
[Hahaha. The mathematics class analogy was so dead on]
Back to the scene of the interview, the interviewer, who had finally finished asking all the pre-set questions, had already gone from his original bright smile to an exhausted look.
“That’s more or less it.” The interviewer looked up after he had closed up his document.
He saw the languid girl looking relieved.
The interviewer, “…………”
The interviewer, “? ? ?”
Why are you the one feeling relieved? Shouldn’t I be the one who is feeling relieved?!
The interviewer recited “Don’t Be Mad” three times and stood up with a professional smile on him. Suddenly, recalling something else, he turned and said, “Oh right, there’s something else.”
Gu Nian looked up, “Hmm?”
Interviewer, “Is Screenwriter Gu happy with the lodging?”
Gu Nian, “This is part of the interview as well?”
The interviewer’s lips twitched a little. “No, this is a question from the filming crew. Feel free to let us know if you need anything else.”
Gu Nian bought the story. She replied in all seriousness. “A room with an ocean view is amazing, except for the likelihood of getting arthritis.”
Gu “22-years-old” Nian who identified herself as an elderly even drummed on her knee cap seriously as she said that.
The interviewer, “…………”
Goodbye.
This scene also did not escape the fate of being included in the final cut.
[Here I thought this is a serious variety television show. I hadn’t expected the first episode to be so goofy.]
[Ahahaha. She was serious when she said that!]
[I am laughing my ass off at the being paid and getting arthritis skits. Hahahaha.]
[The pragmatic Screenwriter Gu]
[I am going to raise my daughter on Gold-Medal Screenwriter! She’s too cute!]
[Hahahaha. Mom-fan +1]
