Chapter 9: Please Trust Me

Ji Nanfeng suddenly thought of something. “What are you doing now? I can’t remember what you did after your graduation.”

He wanted her to go out, to spread her wings and fulfill her dreams, but he could not say it directly. After all, he refused to let her out into the world. Now that he’s struck with amnesia, he can play around like a fool.

“I… I… I… don’t have a job…” Mo Lixin whispered, suddenly recalling his lashing out at her the night after their wedding.

“No problem! If you can’t find a job, your husband will help you find it. Don’t you like designing wedding dresses? I’ll contact a friend and you can begin tomorrow. I believe you’ll do a great job with your abilities.” Ji Nanfeng smiled.

He happened to have a brother who specialized in this field. This job will suit her well.

Mo Lixin truly felt as if she’d been flying in the clouds these past few hours. It’s not clear whether she lived in the true reality or she had been dreaming all along. Now hearing that she’s able to work, it truly felt more like a dream.

“Ji… Nanfeng, you really don’t remember the past?” Mo Lixin questioned once more.

Ji Nanfeng sighed with a panging regret. “Lixin, remember this… no matter what I’ve done before that I can’t remember, I apologize if I’ve hurt you. Please trust me!” He placed his hands on her shoulder and pulled her so their eyes faced each other.

“Ah…” Mo Lixin looked up at his firm eyes. She did not know why, but for a moment, she felt that even if he remembered, she wouldn’t lose him like before. “Okay…”

Ji Nanfeng smiled. “Do you know Gong Yue?”

Gong Yue was his good friend. Though he’d known Mo Lixin from an early age, they never had much contact.

Estimating the time, he should have returned recently from his travels abroad. If nothing changed in this life, Gong Yue should be nearby.

As one of his brothers, Ji Nanfeng would have introduced Mo Lixin to him for they were husband and wife, but he did not do so in the past.

“Gong Yue!” Mo Lixin yelped. Her low voice then grew crisp and loud.

“That’s the one.” Ji Nanfeng smiled. “He’s the founder of Yue Palace, a company famous for designing wedding dresses to people of high status.”

Ji Nanfeng suddenly remembered Gong Yue was her idol. She looked up to his design. How many people wished to meet him, but never could. Gong Yue had always been the type to keep his private matters out of the limelight. Many did not know of his identity and could only guess.

Ji Nanfeng grew silent. Somehow, the thought of his wife mentioning the name of other men with great joy and excitement caused his cheerful mood to turn sour.

Could this be… jealousy…?

Mo Lixin did not know what he was thinking but she seemed to feel a sudden change in his aura.

“Gong Ye seems to be recruiting new people recently. You can go in for an interview. I believe that with your skill, you’ll pass.”

He knew how talented, stubborn and principled she was of her works; he knew how she dreamt of being a designer since she could think.

But thinking of the past again, he remembered how she let go of her dream for his sake. She loved him more than she loved herself. Though wrong, he felt a little happy knowing she still had him in her heart.

“Really?” Mo Lixin leaned forwards. “He also has a company? He’s also hiring?”

“Well, Gong Yue is not his real name. You will find out soon.” Ji Nanfeng suddenly did not wish to mention that person so he immediately ended the topic.

“Xin’er, Nanfeng, come down for dinner!” Wei Xiulan’s voice sounded off.
