Chapter 314 - Honored

One week later. Saturday.

Alex and Caroline were doing their shopping in the nearest mall to buy gifts for the family.

Caroline bought a tablet for Lily and a game console for Jacob as well as t-shirts and shoes. She bought an air fryer for her mother who loves eating french fries but afraid of having too much oil consumed by her body. What she likes about the air fryer... it can roast, grill, and fry fish, meat and make french fries without using oil. It's the newest healthy way of cooking without using much oil.

She also bought a classy shoulder bag for her twin sister.

Aside from buying gifts for the family, Caroline bought one dozen comfy cotton maternity dresses and proceed to the grocery section to shop for healthy foods.

They finished shopping at 5:00 in the afternoon and arrived home at 5:30.

The couple was resting on the balcony of the mansion, gazing at the star-filled sky.

Alex glanced at his beloved woman beside him. "Are you happy with me?" he asked.

Caroline looked at him. "Yes, very much," she replied.

Alex kissed her cheeks. "I'm glad you are happy and satisfied by my side," he said.

They cuddled and watched a TV show together before sleeping at 9:00 in the evening.

The next day, Sunday, 10:00 am.

Caroline ordered the servants to bring the shopping bags to the car.

Alex was taking shower inside the bathroom while she was done dressing up for the occasion. She was wearing a color pink maternity dress matched with a pink shoulder bag and pink sandals.

A few minutes later, Alex exited the bathroom.

"I'm going to wait for you downstairs in the living room," she said.

"Okay, I will dress up pretty quick," Alex replied.

Caroline exited the bedroom and walked in the hallways, she went to the stairs and descended.

She didn't wait any longer for Alex, he comes down a few minutes later.

"Ready to meet my family?" she asked.

"Yes, I need to impress my mother-in-law and your siblings," he said and kissed her nose.

Caroline smiled. "Even if they are not impressed by you, you already got me, so no worries..." she said.

"Yeah, even if the world is against me, as long I have you by my side, I'll be fine, 'coz you and our baby are the most important persons in my life," he said and intertwined her hand with his. "Let's go my love!"

"Okie Dokie!" Caroline said, wearing a bright smile on her lips.

The couple walked towards the door and exited the mansion. They entered the car. Alex started the engine and navigated the car out of the gate.

A few minutes later, Alex's car was already speeding on the main highway going to Eastwood Subdivision.

"Babe, the traffic isn't terrible today, isn't it?" he asked her.

"Yeah," Caroline replied with a nod.

Half an hour later.

They reached their destination at Eastwood Subdivision. Caroline showed her gate pass to the guard on duty, they were allowed to enter.

Alex drives the car guided by Caroline. Finally, they reached her house. The couple exited the vehicle. Alex went to the trunk of the car and picked up the gifts for the family.

Lily and Jacob were already waiting outside.

"Mother, sister Caroline is already here!" Lily shouted.

Catherine and Thelma rushed to the door to see the visitors.

Lily and Jacob helped the couple in bringing the shopping bags to the living room.

Once they're already seated properly inside the living room, Caroline addressed her family. "Guys, I would like you to meet my husband, Daniel Lopez!" she announced.

Alex smiled brightly at everyone. "Nice to meet you all! I'm honored to be a part of your family," he said cheerfully.

Caroline went to her family's side and introduced them one by one to Alex. "This is my mother, Thelma. And this is also my twin sister Catherine. These two here, are Lily and Jacob, my younger siblings," she said.

"Hello, Uncle Daniel! Nice meeting you! Welcome to the family!" Lily and Jacob said in chorus. They smiled brightly at the new husband of their sister.

"Thank you, guys!" Alex responded.

Catherine went to Alex's side and extended her hand for a handshake. "Nice meeting you, brother-in-law! Welcome to the family!" she said with a friendly smile.

Alex grinned. "Nice meeting you, sister-in-law!"

Thelma followed suit. "Welcome to the family, Daniel," she said warmly.

Alex beamed. "Thank you so much, Mother, for welcoming me to the family. I appreciated it very much," he said.

"Okay, guys, thanks for the warm welcome! Time for the gifts!" Caroline said. She went to the shopping bags and distributed her gifts to her family member.

"OMG! I have a new game console, amazing!" Jacob exclaimed in glee. He went to Alex's side and said, "Thank you for the gift, brother-in-law!"

Alex smiled. "My pleasure, bro! Enjoy!" he replied.

Lily shrieked in delight with her new tablet. "Aww... so cute...I like the pink color so much!" she roared.

Caroline gave her gifts to Thelma. "Mother, we bought you an air fryer!" she said.

Thelma looked at the cute machine with a raised brow. "What are its uses?" she asked curiously.

"Mother, I know that you like eating french fries but it's too oily, right?" Caroline said.

"Yeah... so...what this thing can do?" Thelma asked.

"Mother, you can make potato fries without the oil! Just put the potato slices inside without adding any oil and set the timer, voila! you can have healthy french fries after a few minutes! It's a convenient and healthy way to cook food, Mother dear, no need to use oil. Similarly, you can fry, grill fish, meat, roast chicken without using any oil. It's super handy and healthy," she explained. "Just read the manual, Mother, there's a list of food that you can cook in this air fryer," she added.

Thelma's face brightened up. "Wow, I'm loving this air fryer already! I will make french fries tomorrow morning!" she said excitedly and brought the appliances to the kitchen.

Caroline faced her twin sister. She picked up the shopping bag and handed it to her. "Sis, this is for you, I hope you like it!" she said.

Catherine looked at the shoulder bag inside the shopping bag. "Wow, it's so cute! Thank you, sis!" she raved.

While the entire family was busy with the gifts...

Alex was silently looking at Catherine once in a while. Ironically, he fell in love with her photos a long time ago that started Allison's madness. Fast forward, he fell in love and going to marry her twin sister, Caroline, that happened to be his brother Greg's first love.

What a twisted fate he and Caroline have!

Speaking of his dead brother, he is finally fulfilling Greg's wish which is to marry Caroline.

A few minutes later.

Caroline went to his side. "Are you okay?" she asked.

"Yes, I'm fine," Alex replied.

Thelma's voice rang in the air. "Okay, guys. Let's start the feast!" she announced.

They vacated the living room and went to the dining room area to share the delicious dishes specially ordered for that occasion.

After eating... the family retired to the living room and engaged in chatting nonstop.

At around 9:00 in the evening. Catherine bid goodbye to her family and went home, followed by Alex and Caroline.

Inside the moving vehicle.

Alex took a glance at Caroline. "Happy, babe?" he asked.

Caroline smiled sweetly at him. "Yes. I'm glad that they welcome you cordially," she replied. Her family's positive welcome attitude towards Alex gave her peace of mind.

"I'm happy too that they are willing to accept me. And thank you for introducing me to them as your husband, it filled my heart with pride and happiness," he said.

Caroline smiled. "My pleasure, husband," she spoke sweetly.

Alex grinned and focused his attention on his driving.

Half an hour later, they reached home safely.
