The next day, after breakfast. The couple went to the nearest hospital and got in touch with an OB for Caroline's pregnancy. The check-up went well and the OB informed them that the babies were growing healthy inside her w.o.m.b.
"OMG! We have twins!" Alex beamed brightly. He feels so happy looking at the monitor of the ultrasound machine.
Caroline smiled with happiness upon seeing the megawatt smile on Alex's face.
A few minutes later, the couple exited the hospital and went home in good spirits.
Alex report for duty in his office while Caroline remained in the house. Before he leaves the house, he gives his account info to Caroline so that she can shop for anything she likes to buy online.
"Thank you for your trust," she said sweetly.
"I love you so much and our baby inside your w.o.m.b, you're so worth it!" Alex said and planted a kiss on her forehead. "I'm going to my office now. If you need anything - the servants are at your disposal. You can always call me in my office if there is something you need that the servants can't give," he said. "Bye, for now, babe. See you later," he said. Before he exited the room he planted a kiss on Caroline's tummy.
"Bye, take care and drive safely on your way to your office," Caroline said.
Alex smiled and left the bedroom. She went inside the bathroom.
Fifteen minutes later, she exited and went to bed. She lies down and stared at the ceiling thinking about her situation.
If everything runs smoothly, her marriage to Mike will be dissolved in more or less two years. And if Alex's love for her will remained alive during that time, she can be his second wife. That's the only goal she has in mind right now. If she can be Alex's legal wife, she and her baby will have a bright future ahead of them.
For now, she will focus on the financial side which is her security, as for the others, everything can wait and everything is easy if she has lots of money at her disposal. For she already knows that if she has no money life will become pretty difficult for her and the baby in her tummy.
She needs to become an attentive wife, devoted and loyal partner to Alex so that he will continue to love her more each day.
Although her heart was still bleeding heavily due to the breakdown of her marriage with the man she truly loves, she can't wallow in grief and torture herself with everything that happened in the past.
She undergoes a lot of bad things in her life, some are of her undoing and some aren't what she wanted to happen in her life but happened without her consent.
She had come so far... there is no turning back... the only path she can take now is the road forward.
If she will play her cards right, Alex can give her the security and stability that she needed right now when she was at the lowest moment of her life.
Caroline released a deep sigh.
She closed her eyes to rest her mind. When she is alone in the room, she can't help but think about her past. She needs to get out of the room and go somewhere!
Well...she can always stay in the pool! Seeing the sparkling bluish water can relax her mind.
She rose from the bed, left the bedroom, and went downstairs going to the pool area.
Fifteen minutes later.
Caroline was already relaxing in the lounge chair, sipping the orange juice served by the maid. She plans to call her sister Catherine to inform her that if she wants to see her new husband she will need to go to her house in Eastwood Subdivision.
She taps on her phone and places a call to her twin sister.
"Hello..." Catherine's voice came on the line.
"Hello, sis... are you still mad at me?" Caroline asked. She heard a deep sigh on the phone.
"Caroline... you already made your choice. It's your life - so be it. I no longer want to stress myself over your situation," Catherine replied.
"Good! Don't worry much about my situation. I got everything under control, besides I'm in good hands," Caroline spoke.
"Okay, I'm happy for you," Catherine said.
"I will bring my new partner to my house to meet our mother and our younger siblings. If you are interested to meet my new partner, you can come anytime. No need to bring your kids and John, just you alone is enough," Caroline said.
"When-?" asked Catherine.
"Next week, Sunday, lunchtime. I will order foods from the catering service to be delivered in the house," replied Caroline.
"Okay, I will come. I won't miss it for the world," Catherine responded. "See you next week, sis!" Catherine said.
"Bye sis...give my hugs and kisses to the kids," Caroline said.
"I will...bye." Catherine ended the conversation at her end.
Caroline put the phone on the side table and breathed deeply. She continues sipping her orange juice while staring at the water in the pool.
She roamed her eyes around the area.
She remembered Allison and Greg in this place, swimming in the pool, having a good time. Sometimes they go on painting together, and so on...now they're both dead.
The only ones alive are her, Alex, and Owen!
Speaking of Owen! Where is that guy right now? He knows her dark secret. Aside from Alex and her, Owen knows everything!
She suddenly felt nervous.
She needs to ask Alex about Owen's whereabouts!
Hours went by.
Evening comes.
Alex comes home from work at 5:30.
A smiling Caroline greeted him in the living room. "How's your day at work?" she asked.
"Just fine, everything is good," he answered and planted a quick kiss on her lips.
The couple climbed the stairs and went to their bedroom for a rest.
After dinner, they have a serious conversation in the bed.
Caroline was resting her head in Alex's arms. "Why do you still love me even if I killed somebody in the past?" she asked.
Alex smiled and kissed her forehead affectionately. "You killed someone because of self-defense. You're not a born killer, it's never your intention to kill someone. It's not your fault. Sometimes I felt guilty because I'm the one who brought Brenda into your life, because of her, your life was destroyed," he said wearing a troubled expression on his face.
She looked into his eyes. "Is this the reason why you're going to marry me because you felt guilty and you want to make it up for me?" she asked.
Alex shook his head. "No. It was never about the guilt. I want to marry you because I love you. I want you to be the mother of my children and create a happy family with you. I want to spend the rest of my life with you," he said sincerely.
Caroline feels happy. "Thank you for loving me - despite that I killed someone in the past," she said sadly.
Alex hugged her tightly. "I love you for what you are, I don't care about your past," he said.
Caroline smiled, feeling secure with his love. Then she remembered Owen. "Where is Owen right now?" she asked.
"He's living with my sister Allison's adopted kids in the mansion. I made him the guardian of the kids," he answered.
"Can we trust him? He knows everything about my past," she said nervously.
Alex rubbed her back. "Don't worry about him. We have a heart to heart talk after my sister died in the accident. He already repented his sins, let's give him a chance. He's not exactly bad like my sister," he explained.
Caroline sighed. "Okay, if you trusted him that much then I will also trust him."
"But if you want - to make your mind rest at ease...we can always silence him for good," he suggested.
Caroline's eyes widened in alarm and looked at him. "Huh? What do you mean?" she asked, her heart was beating rapidly in her rib cage.
"We can kill him...poison him...made him meet an accident...hired a killer to finish him for good... we can resort to dark stuff like that to make sure no one will spill your secret," he suggested casually.
Caroline's mouth was agape. "No! Please don't do that! I don't want anyone to die again because of me!" she protested, feeling appalled by his suggestion.
Alex smiled. "Relax...it's just a suggestion. I don't want to dirty my hands too. But if you ask for it, I'm willing to do it - for your peace of mind," he said.
"Don't touch him! I have no bad intention towards him!" Caroline said.
"That's Good! Let's stop talking about him. Let's forget the past and move on. Now is the right time for healing and moving on," Alex said with determination shining in his eyes.
Caroline finally smiled. "Agree..."
The couple spent the rest of the night cuddling in bed.
