Chapter 51 Joining The Defenses

The Adventurer Hall looked exactly the same in every town, or so Zayn presumed since he couldn't see any remarkable difference in the structure of the Adventurer Hall from the outside.

It was a rather small rectangular building with two large floors that were neatly constructed and well-maintained. The Adventurer Hall was built with concrete and well-processed wooden pillars. Even the type of wood used in the Adventurer Halls was the same which astonished Zayn a little.

The wooden door was thrown wide open but none of the Adventurers and volunteers entered the Adventurer Hall since the staff members were all standing in front of the building, taking notes of all participants to assign them to a team, if necessary, or to create the most-efficient strategy to protect the town and their citizens.

Zayn was a little nervous at first because he was not sure what he had to expose to join the fight against the Undead but his worries were quickly dispersed. Most Adventurers and volunteers chose not to tell the staff about their secret trumps. They gave rough explanations about some of their powers and revealed which monsters they were the most confident of defeating, but that was already it.

'Creating a proper plan with so few details about everyone would be quite difficult…but that's not my problem to take care of.' He thought when it was his turn.

"Please tell me your Adventurer Rank if you belong to the Adventurer Alliance. If you are not yet an Adventurer, please provide me with some information about your capabilities." The young female staff member said while noting down a few facts about the three bandaged men.

It was rare to see someone being unwilling to expose even the slightest detail about their identity, which was also why the staff took note of every minute detail such as their covered-up appearance as well.

"We're a group of three, none of us has a Soulring but we're strong enough to deal with hundreds of Goblin Skeletons all by ourselves. The bulky one to my left is very strong, the skinny one to my right is fast and I can manifest a Soulblade," Zayn explained without taking any names.

He released some soul particles through his right hand that reached for the hilt of his shortsword which he pulled out just a few centimeters outside its scabbard to show the golden semi-translucent membrane that shrouded the silver iron shortsword's blade.

It was rare to see someone being able to create a Soulblade without being in possession of a Soulring. In fact, many said that this was impossible since a Soulblade was supposed to require a tremendous amount of soul particles to be possessed and maintained.

However, Zayn manifested the Soulblade rather easily, which was duly noted down by the staff. She didn't even ask about the abilities of the Herculean Human Spirit and the Agile Human Spirit as she focused completely on Zayn. That was what he had intended to achieve since he knew that it was not easy to create and maintain a Soulblade as easily as he could.

'Looks like my muscle memories are proving to be helpful once again!'

The semi-translucent golden membrane around the silver iron shortsword enhanced the blade's sharpness and endurance drastically. The better the weapon and its conductivity of soul particles the better the final result would be.

Silver Iron was not a great conductor but Zayn could wield the Soulblade easily nonetheless. He sheathed the weapon again and removed his hand from the hilt before he stared back at the female staff, whose eyes had grown as wide as saucers.

"We fought a few Goblin Skeleton groups in the last few hours, and I've dealt with a pair of Human Skeletons before as well!" Zayn said all of a sudden, pulling the staff's attention away from his sword. All color was drained out of the young woman's face and she stared blankly at him for a few seconds.

In the end, she regained her senses and noted down a few more pieces of information before she cleared her throat to give herself a few seconds to digest and accept that the current situation was actually real.

"Thank you very much for the information you've provided. You are likely to get assigned to deal with the larger numbers of Ordinary Undead later. They're weaker than your team in terms of physical strength but their numbers will be high. I hope that is fine with you," The staff explained, rather calmly.

"Please stay nearby and don't leave the town for the time being," She added while trying to keep her calm before the incoming chaos as she handed him a small note with the number 36 scribbled on it.

"Your team number is 36 and you will be positioned in accordance with the information you've provided. As long as nothing out of the ordinary happens everything will be fine!"

To Zayn, it felt like the staff member wanted to reassure herself rather than him.

'Well, it's not like anyone expected Undeads to emerge in the central region. There are hardly any dangerous monsters around here, but now peace is disrupted all of a sudden.'

Several thoughts flashed through Zayn's mind but he was not actually that worried anymore. The town had actually more retired high-ranked Adventurers than he would have expected to house. Everyone who was still capable of fighting chose to join the battle against the Undead since it was a necessity to protect their town and their loved ones.

That gave Zayn enough confidence to be more focused on defeating the weakest Undead in the advancing hordes, rather than needlessly worrying about fighting Undead with one or two Soulrings.

He was not actually sure how strong an Undead with one Soulring was but he didn't really feel like finding it out right now, either. Jens had been a pretty decent example that showed how even a wasted Blessed with one Soulring could easily beat the shit out of dozens of other wasted Blessed by using brute strength.

Fighting someone with one Soulring may be fine as long as his opponent was alive but Undead was a little bit tricky to deal with if they were stronger than oneself!

With that in mind, Zayn used the remaining time to find a place to sit and fill his Soulring with the soul particles that had amassed inside his heart.

He transferred some soul particles to both Human Spirits as well, which was enough for them to fill their Soulring a tiny bit.

It was already late afternoon when Zayn's Sparrows returned to warn him about a small army of Undead approaching the town.

Their numbers were in the thousands, which was reaffirmed by a loud, booming voice that warned the townspeople of the impending doom.

"This will be so exhausting…At least give me enough soul particles to fill half of my Soulring when we're done here!"
