After two days, which quickly passed by, it was time for the Gusman family to go home. The butler came to the Penthouse very early so that he could check if everything were in order. He found the whole family was having breakfast while all were laughing their hearts out.
"Good morning, everyone! So' did you all enjoy your stay here? Please, tell me the truth or else… I will be dead if my boss finds out that you all did not enjoy your stay." The butler jokingly said with a wide grin on his face.
The truth of the matter is... His mission was to make sure that the Gusman family was happy, if ever he fails, that would be a big problem because he wouldn't know how to explain then. Knowing his boss, he would not let him live long enough to see them have a child.
Father Jessie stood up and insisted that the butler sit and join their breakfast while he told him.
"Brother Ruffy, do you even have to ask? Didn't you hear how happy we were when you entered the room? Hahaha! Of course, the whole family is happy. "We would never forget this vacation for the rest of our lives. Do not worry anymore, we would take care of you, and if someone will say otherwise. Ok!"
Hearing Jessie's reply, butler Ruffy happily joined them. And the whole Gusman family was happy having breakfast with the butler. Father Jessie and the butler easily jived and were reminiscing about their past.
Mother Fely and their sons just let them be. When they were done eating, they all went back to their appointed room and started packing up and preparing to go back to their normal lives.
The two older men were not yet done talking. They have reached back to the time of the Japanese occupation of the Philippines during wartime. They were talking about how the Philippines were ruled over by the Japanese during World War II.
While they were enjoying their conversation, they couldn't avoid telling some old jokes. "Oh, times have really changed. I remember the story of my father about the Japanese." Father Jessie said with eyes twinkling from the memory of the days.
"What did your father say?" The butler was very curious, and his eyes grew big with excitement to hear what Father Jessie would say.
"It's nothing.. Just some lame joke. But if you think about it, it has some truth into it." Father Jessie answered who was not sure if he should continue with his joke or not because the butler might not like it and take offense since he seems to be very close to his Japanese boss.
"Come on, brother!" The butler tapped Father Jessie's shoulder. "Don't do that...don't leave me hanging! What was your father's story?" He was convincing Father Jessie to tell the rest of the story or else, and he would not be able to sleep until he knows the story.
Father Jessie thought very well before starting the story. "Oh, alright. You are insistent. Don't get hurt if you feel I am alluding about you!" Father Jessie warned the butler before he continued with his story.
"My father said that before, during the war, the Japanese occupied us. Many women were accosted, so whenever the Japanese are coming, the parents would shout and warn their daughters…" Father Jessie suddenly stopped as he remembered his youngest child.
"Brother Jessie, don't leave me hanging. If you don't continue with your story...I will come with you all the way to your house." The butler warned him while sneering.
"Alright, alright! I will continue. Just don't come home with us. It's embarrassing. Hahaha! Anyways, the parents who have a single daughter at home would be scared and shouts when the Japanese were arriving…."
"Why would they shout just because the Japanese were arriving?" Butler Ruffy anxiously asked with excitement.
"Why don't you let me finish my story and stop asking questions!" Father Jessie snarled at him then continued with his story.
Nevertheless, the parents would yell at their kids, "my daughter! Daughter! The Japanese are coming. Hide! Quickly!" That was what the parents would always shout-out to their daughters.
"Hmmm, well, who will not shout like that if you know that the Japanese would take advantage of them.
"Brother!" Father Jessie tapped the shoulder of the butler. "The story does not end there. It has a continuation." He explained while trying to stifle his laughter.
"Ah! Is that so? Ok, continue with your story, please! You're so slow in telling the story! You're like a turtle." The butler complained who was obviously bored.
"Oh, alright. This is the highlight...During the war, that was, the parents would shout… Now in our times, because entertainers are popular in Japan and we can see that a lot of them have improved their lives because of their children who go to Japan… what the parents are shouting have changed when a Japanese is coming…"
"What?!"
"The parents with daughters would shout when they see a Japanese coming their way like this... 'My daughter, my daughter! A Japanese is coming. Dress up and make yourself beautiful! Quickly!!!!' Hahaha! Did you get it?"
The butler tapped Father Jessie's shoulder. "You are full of jokes...But even if what you are saying is not true and just a joke… honestly, you are right. Because of the hard life here in the Philippines, other parents would almost sell their daughters to the Japanese so that their lives would get better."
When Father Jessie did not answer, and the light in his eyes disappeared, which was just there a moment ago while telling laughing and telling jokes, the butler got worried. ' Oh shit! Why did I say that? Their daughter is going to Japan. I'm dead! ' The butler thought while he did not know how to act.
After a while, Father Jessie spoke up. "Brother, apologies. I just suddenly thought of my youngest one… Isn't what we did the same?" Father Jessie seriously asked while his eyes reddened as if ready to cry.
"Brother, brother, brother... Don't be like that. Never think that you are that type of a parent because the difference is too far beyond your imagination. Ma- I mean Ashley is different, a totally different situation. Alright! Take it from me, man! Very different…" The butler kept on repeating, and he will keep on repeating it until he sees that Father Jessie's face relax.
