Chapter 370 - What Kind Of Person Is She?

Meanwhile, at the hospital, Ashley was waiting for her husband to fall asleep before she decided to check on Harumi. She needed to find out how grandma Hanada was doing and what her condition was. As per their conversation with Tanaga's doctor, they had no time to waste. They needed to get in touch with that doctor in Europe.

Once she was sure that Tanaga was sound asleep, she slowly left the room to go to the VIP waiting room. When she arrived there, Harumi was not where she was supposed to be resting, she didn't even find anyone inside. She began to worry.

"Where did she go? I hope nothing bad happened to her or anything," she thought as she looked around the room. 

She checked the bathroom to make sure that there was no one there. 

When she still couldn't find Harumi, she decided to give her a call.

"Maybe she's down at the cafeteria getting some food," Ashley mumbles to herself as she pulls her cellphone out of her dress pocket.

Just as she was about to call Harumi's number, the waiting room's door opened, and Harumi quickly entered carrying a duffle bag. It looked like she just came downstairs to pick up whatever brought.

"Ashley, what are you doing here? I thought you would be staying with Mr. Jones. That's why when I called to send things here, and I took the opportunity to ask for your things to be brought with mine," she explained.

"Here," she added, handing me a duffel bag. "Tiny brought this. He didn't go upstairs to check on you because he had to go back to the resort right away. There seems to be trouble going on there. From what I heard, Naomi was making a scene, and Fely slapped her." 

Harumi was panting while she spoke. The trip had been generally exhausting. Not to mention handling Naomi's attitude too. She told Ashley everything that happened at the resort about Naomi and the others.

Ashley's eyes widened, and she couldn't believe what she heard about what had happened at the resort. She now had a headache thinking of all this. 

"My God! Why don't they keep quiet first and do not add to the problem we have now. What kind of mother does Tanaga have? Her own mother is lying in the ICU while her son isn't that far from dying or permanently losing his memory. She even brought out the worst in my parents. What kind of horrible person is she? " Ashley mumbles to herself before sighing deeply. 

Harumi, who was watching Ashley, placed her duffel bag down; she went to the bathroom to grab a towel and dip it in cold water to give to Ashley. 

She then slowly approached Ashley, "Ashley, calm down. We wouldn't want you to get sick worrying about Naomi," Harumi said, while also handing her a bottle of water.

Ashley opened the bottle of water and quickly drank it all; she was very thirsty. When she finished drinking the water, only then she remembered that she had not eaten yet.

"Harumi, have you eaten yet? If not, could you order us some Chinese take out or call the resort? I'm hungry too, but I also assume that if we call the resort, we might not eat until tomorrow because of the trouble they're facing there." Ashley asked. 

"Right away, Ashley! I haven't eaten yet either. Honestly, my stomach has been grumbling for a while already. I was planning to go to the cafeteria to grab something to eat and return back here. However, I was afraid that something would happen to either Ms. Hanada and Mr. Jones while I'm not here. But nevermind that, I'll go order some takeout." Harumi told Ashley while searching for food deliveries that were still open at such a late hour.

While they were waiting for the food to arrive, Ashley decided to call at the resort and find out what really happened. However, as she was about to dial her mother's number, she changed her mind, and instead, she called Tiny so as not to disturb her parents. 

Tiny answered the call immediately after only a few rings.

"Good evening, Ashley. What can I do for you?" Tiny answered politely as he got out of the car. He just arrived after dropping off the duffle bags.

"Tiny, I heard something happened, and my mother slapped Naomi. Is it true?" Ashley asked as she was obviously worried.

"I just left the hospital, and ma'am Ashley knows this already. Harumi didn't even bother to wait the next day to tell her the news. Wow." He thought before answering Ashley's question. 

"Yes! Sir Jones' mother's attitude was quite...impolite, and Aunt Fely couldn't stand it, so she slapped her to put her in her place." Tiny wanted to laugh after he said that, but he hesitated. He was afraid that Ashley might get angry.

"Is that so? So what happened then?" Ashley asked.

"Well, everything would have been fine after they had already entered their respective rooms. But Uncle Ruffy figured that they haven't eaten yet and asked the Chef to prepare a light meal for the mother and son duo. Who would have thought that she wouldn't like it and made a commotion?"

"Madam Naomi didn't seem to like what Uncle Ruffy asked the Chef to cook for them, so she rejected it all. The food was all prepared on the table beautifully. However, she was not happy and pulled the tablecloth, making all the food prepared fall to the ground. What do you know, the plates and glasses were broken, and we now need to buy new cutlery." Tiny said as he entered the house.

Ashley suddenly stood up from her seat. "What? Are you serious? My mother-in-law did that? Jesus Christ! What kind of character does that person have? What happened afterward?" Ashley's voice was loud as she asked and was ready to go home to the resort if necessary.

"Well, sir Tanaka was so ashamed of his mother's behavior and apologized to everyone. Before, uncle Ruffy suggested that they just eat outside and called a service car to take them. Fortunately, I was on my way out to bring your belongings, so I wasn't appointed to drive them." 

"That's good then. It's unbelievable that such a person really exists. So my mother-in-law isn't home right now? Phew! All right, let's end the call here so I could call my parents. Go ahead and rest; it seems it's going to be a long night." 

Ashley didn't even wait for Tiny to reply before she ended the call. 

Instead of calling her parents, as she told Tiny, she decided to contact Sato. It seemed that she was not going to be able to attend the convention. They needed to make arrangements to prepare to go back to Houston as soon as possible. 

Sato was currently sound asleep. He was too tired because Ashley hadn't come to the convention, so only him, Fumika, and Celia attended. They were too busy with work and came home late. That's why he fell asleep as soon as they arrived at their villa.

Since Ashley couldn't contact Sato, she decided to call Fumika. It's good that Fumika was still awake and chatting with her family in Japan. When Fumika saw Ashley calling, she quickly interrupted her family's conversation to answer Ashley's call.

"Good evening, Ashley! What can I do for you?" Fumika answered politely while still yawning.

On the other line, Ashley hears Fumika yawning, and she felt terrible because she was disturbing Fumika in the middle of the night.

"I'm sorry if I'm disturbing you. I just wanted to let you know that I can no longer attend the convention. I'm leaving the three of you in charge of everything. If everything goes well, we plan to go back to Houston when Chairwoman Hanada and Tanaga are discharged. So can I count on you?" 

"Yes, ma'am! You don't worry and rest easy; we will take care of everything. I hope everything goes well, and Chairwoman Hanada and CEO Jones can be discharged as soon as possible. You too, ma'am, I hope you don't neglect yourself, or you might get sick!" 

All right! Please rest, and we will take care of the convention." 

Ashley thanked Fumika wholeheartedly before she heard a knock on the door right after she finished the call. Her eyes widened with anticipation of the food arriving.

"God, thank you! I'm famished," Ashley said while Harumi stood up to open the door for her.

On the other hand, Ashley went to the bathroom to wash her hands, preparing herself to eat with her hands. She had no idea that it was not the food delivery. Instead, it was the mother and son duo who had just finished eating dinner, and Naomi insisted on returning to the hospital.

Tanaka tried his best to stop his mother, but Naomi refused to listen. She insisted that she needed to speak with grandma Hanada or Tanaga. Either one of them will do so, as long as they give her the money she needs. 

There was nothing Tanaka could do but tag along. He was afraid. If he didn't accompany his mother, because wherever she went, chaos ensued, and she'd wreak havoc to the poor hospital staff.

However, he never expected Ashley to be in the VIP waiting room as well. He thought for sure that Ashley would be staying by her husband's side and not be there. But he thought wrong.

The whole room suddenly went quiet when Ashley exited the bathroom; the worst part was that the person standing right before her was her brother-in-law and mother-in-law.

The worst of it all was, Naomi was reprimanding Harumi because she wouldn't do what Naomi wanted in the first place, which did not bode well with Ashley, who was ready to confront her witch of a mother-in-law.
