Chapter 108: Browsing
When He Kun and the others saw the jadeite pieces their eyes brightened, and they immediately squatted down to check them both.
They didn’t question Lin Luo’s judgment, but wanted to seize this learning opportunity to try and see if they could figure out what Lin Luo had used to make his judgment. After having spent so much time with him they were already convinced with Lin Luo’s abilities and just wanted to learn more from him.
Out of curiosity, Han XinYuan and Han XinYu also leaned in and took a look, but ultimately they both had more experience in stone gambling and they also both had abilities to support them. Two brothers quickly pulled back and exchanged tacit smiles with Lin Luo.
He Kun and Xu Jian looked at the stones for a while before they both started to pick up a few clues. On the smaller piece of jadeite on the left, the sanding was even, and the three-dimensional effect was strong. Consequently, a few green pine flowers were slightly revealed from the matrix stone. It looked like the stone had a high chance of containing good jade, but because of the small size and the dark color of the pine flowers, the price of 6 million was a bit on the high side. Considering the cost versus value, they chose not to buy it. As for the piece on the right, they couldn’t see the problem.
“Xiao Luo, we can see the problem with the small one, but why can’t we see anything wrong with the big one? Can you tell us about it?” He Kun and the others put down the jadeite and moved to Lin Luo’s side to ask.
“Let’s talk while walking.” The stall owner was still there and it was really rude to say in front of others that their jadeite wasn’t any good, so it was better to walk away to talk about it.
After walking a certain distance away, Lin Luo said in a low voice, “You should have seen the small piece of jadeite just now. Although it looks fair, the price-performance ratio is too low, so it wouldn’t be very cost-effective to buy it. As for the big piece of material, did any of you see the white fog?”
“I saw it! I saw it!” The fog layer was the product of the chemical changes that occurred in jadeite after it was deposited. For the jadeite with white salt sand skin the white fog layer wasn’t easy to distinguish. That being said, they couldn’t call themselves stone gambling experts if they couldn’t even see that white fog, could they?
It’s just that white fog represented the good news that there was jade inside. That the price of the piece of jadeite could be set at such a high price in the first place was naturally inseparable from the existence of the white fog layer. However, given what Lin Luo had just said, why did it seem like the problem stemmed from the white fog?
“Then did you see the white cotton in the white fog?” Lin Luo asked with a smile.
He Kun and the others were stunned for a while, not because they didn’t pay attention, but because the white cotton was really hard to tell apart. The piece of jadeite itself was a piece of white salt sand skin. Adding in the white fog layer and white cotton and it became too difficult to pick out the cotton from the fog.
White cotton was different from white fog. It referred to the impurities that were often seen inside jadeite. Its existence would greatly affect the price of jadeite.
He Kun and the others glanced at each other before they hurriedly ran back to the stall as if their butts were on fire, ready to look for the white cotton hidden in the white fog.
Lin Luo shook his head amusedly, found another stall nearby and began to look through it.
He wasn’t sure if it was because they were there on the first day of the gambling market, but the quality of the jadeite on display was is relatively average. They were all marked with high prices and placed in the most conspicuous position of the booth to attract customers.
“Boss, how much for this piece of jadeite?” At this time, Han XinYu suddenly asked the stall owner about the price of one piece of jadeite.
The piece of jadeite he was interested in was a piece of bayberry sand skin jadeite that had an open window, but the piece didn’t look very good. The skin had some black dots, and there was no green on the cut surface. It only showed a faint red fog that greatly reduced the value of the piece of jadeite.
Now it had been sitting at the bottom of a pile of jadeite. Lin Luo wasn’t sure how exactly Han XinYu dug it out.
The stall owner looked up at Han XinYu’s young and tender face, and said, “100,000.”
Hearing this, Han XinYu frowned slightly, “Boss, isn’t this price a bit too high?”
It was well known that red fog easily polluted the jade, and it loved to run off the skin and through the jade itself. As such this cut to open a window was equivalent to a small bet collapse, which would reduce the value of the piece of jadeite. Coupled with the black dots on the matrix stone itself, this piece wasn’t a material that looked as if it could get a good win.
“Boss, give me a real price, and I’ll buy it for my brother to practice his hands.” Han XinYuan also said.
The stall owner considered it for a while before he reluctantly said, “Well, the lowest price is 80,000 credits, it can’t be less.”
The two brothers bartered with the stall owner for a while and finally bought it for 70,000 credits.
It’s not that the Han brothers cared about that small amount of money too much, but if they were to judge from the current appearance of the piece of jadeite, that was the most it was worth. Although they had money, they weren’t there to be taken advantage of.
