I keep looking back-and-forth between my hand and the half transparent plate with a surprised look on my face, and hear the white dragon.
“Kyu!”
And then, another half transparent plate appears. This one is smaller and appears right in front of the white dragon. It clearly appeared in response to the white dragon’s voice.
The sitting white dragon looks up at me quietly, as its tail slowly and continuously hits the ground.
It feels like it’s waiting for something.
I try approaching the plate closest to me with my fingers again, and the white dragon starts tapping its tail a little faster.
I pull back, and the tail tapping becomes slower again. The white dragon tilts its head.
“Are you telling me to try touching this?”
I ask while touching the half transparent plate.
“Is Master Rust touching something?”
“My magic eyes don’t see anything.”
“And your eyes can see through obstructing techniques, so.. Is this primordial magic…?”
I hear the girls talk, but most of my attention is on what’s in front of me.
You could say that my heart is dancing with curiosity over this new phenomenon.
I’ve never seen these letters before, but they are obviously arranged in some sort of order. And it looks like the young dragon in front of me can understand them.
I point to one line of letters, and the white dragon’s tail becomes more agitated. This line has two parts. One looks like it has two letters, and the other six.
Now what? What do I need to do to form a contract…
I don’t know this magic, or what dangers it could bring. But I just can’t beat my inquisitive nature and curiosity.
I touch the line, and the six letters on the latter half start changing one after the other.
They must be numbers! No doubt about it. The way they change seems regular too, and the same numbers are repeating.
I look at the half transparent plate with excitement. I can see some sort of light traveling from my plate to the white dragon’s. Something’s being transmitted over there.
I try pulling my finger away, and the symbols I think are numbers stop, and so does the light.
Incredible. The white dragon’s primordial magic is enabling some sort of transfer.
“Kyu.”
The white dragon sounds sad. I think we’re not done yet.
I touch the line again, and this transfer of sorts continues.
And then, the six symbols go down to five, and the line stops changing. Two new lines appear in the center of the plate. Two short lines.
One is probably yes or confirm, and the other is probably no or cancel. It just feels like that sort of thing.
I approach the one on the right with my finger…
“Kyukyukyu.”
…And the white dragon starts shaking its head and swinging its tail side to side.
“I try moving my finger to the left one.
“Kyu.”
The white dragon nods and taps its tail on the ground.
I touch the left one, and the half transparent plate disappears.
And then, white light starts coming out of the cut I made on my left arm..
“Kyah!”
I hear from behind in response to the brightness.
I’m too surprised and freeze, but the light continues to shine through the wound, until it focuses on a medallion hanging from my neck.
The medallion shines brightly, and then the light jumps into the white dragon. Once the white dragon receives this light, its body begins to emit a silver shine.
“Kyuu…”
It lets out a high pitched noise.
When the light settles, I see the white dragon has doubled in size, and it’s looking a lot more stylish.
I approach it slowly.
“Is the contract formed?”
I whisper while looking at the white dragon.
“Kyuh.”
It responds while smacking its now longer tail on the ground and stretching its neck towards me.
I gently pat its neck, and it feels cool.
Now that I look at it more closely, I can see it has an image that looks like my medallion on its neck. It’s like a silver birthmark.
“How about we call you Seilook?”
“Kyu.”
And thus, after exchanging something, I formed a contract with Seilook.
