The magic crystal in Princess Lily’s hand touches the wall.
The glitter of magic elements that comes from it makes it look like it’s softly shining, and eventually a magic circle appears on the wall.
I’ve never seen this one.
The magic circle starts spinning on the wall. It looks like it’s collapsing, but then the light of the magic elements turns into letters on the surface of the wall. At a glance, it doesn’t look like something I can read.
They look like the same system as the letters that appear on Seilook’s half-transparent plate.
Something appears over some of the letters, like double-exposure.
“Backdoor? Administrator privileges… Input?”
I don’t know what this means, but I whisper some words I see here and there.
“Master Rust! So you really can read this!?”
Princess Lily suddenly turns to me and walks my way. The smell of flowers tickles my nostrils again.
The letters on the wall start disappearing as soon as she takes the magic crystal away from it.
“C-calm down, your highness. Remember, I’m the one who won the bet. Please continue your explanation.”
I raise my hands, and stop Princess Lily as she comes very close to me.
“Excuse me. It’s been passed down through the royal family that these are letters of primordial magic, but knowledge on how to read them has been lost due to longstanding wars. The wars between humans, dragons, and demons that started over a millennium ago. All that’s left is what appears in old buildings like this via magic crystal keys.”
She says while holding a magic crystal key tightly in her hand.
“I see… But why did you think I would be able to read it?”
I think back to what Princess Lily and the others have been doing and how they’ve been acting, and it all makes me feel like they’ve had their eyes on me since before we met.
“I’m sure you know that primordial magic is said to have been passed from dragons to humans. You are the first person in many centuries to form a contract with a dragon, so I figured you might be able to read these primordial words.”
She stops talking for a moment.
I take out the magic crystal she gave me, to see if it also works. She steps out of the way, and I reach over and hold it up towards the wall.
She starts talking again, behind me. Her tone makes me think she made up her mind about something.
“I will ask directly. Master Rust, please marry me, and join the royal family.”
I turn back in surprise, just as the magic circle on the wall turns to letters.
But what’s written here doesn’t seem to be the same as before.
《Administrator privileges confirmed. Initiating transfer.》
The light of magic elements envelops my body.
I see Princess Lily with a serious look on her face and a branch still stuck to her hair, but in the space of a second, she disappears.
