Chapter 35 - He wasn’t sure whether his deskmate was very mature or super immature. (2)

Chu Qianli couldn’t understand why Tan Muxing was so nervous so she went on to explain, “Besides, from the perspective of how compatible our charts are, it is only normal that my friends are not into occult.”

Qiu Qingkong, “The compatibility of charts?”

“Right. One type are the ones with a lot of similarities and have a lot to talk about when they get together. That’s the way that yours and my star charts are,” said Chu Qianli as she looked straight at Qiu Qingkong. She then turned and looked at Tan Muxing and said seriously, “The other kind are the exact opposite of each other. They can be compatible too.

“Humans tend to want to complete themselves subconsciously and to make up for what we miss or lack. As such, we can easily be attracted to those who are polar opposite to ourselves and our relationships will actually stabilize.”

Chu Qianli patted on Tan Muxing and said in a very casual manner, “I am too into astrology. As such, it’s only normal that you have no interest in it at all!”

She had always known that Tan Muxing was not interested in astrology. She was quite surprised as how well he had been going along with them recently.

Tan Muxing hadn’t expected that from her. He was worried about it before but now he was dazed.

Next to the window, Chu Qianli’s half length hair bounced around in the light. She was still casual and carefree as though none of these bothered her.

Her eyes always beamed when she talked about astrology and she always wanted to go on and on and tell people about it. She was lively and full of spirits at those moments.

She really, really like the stars.

But she just said that it was normal to not be interested in astrology.

Tan Muxing had always wondered why Chu Qianli wanted to be his friend. Perhaps she was new and didn’t know a lot of others or perhaps he needed his help in minor, insignificant matters. Perhaps she would lose steam after a while and become like just anybody else in class.

Tan Muxing would have no interactions at all with Qiu Qingkong had there not been Chu Qianli. Truth was, he was already mentally prepared for the possibility that his new deskmate would distant him naturally when she made more friends.

After all, who would want to be friends with someone who was mediocre in looks and ability? Even he couldn’t come up with any reason why anyone would want to be his friend. Nothing stood out about him with the exception of his family. He was of no use to anyone.

He followed Chu Qianli’s lead and did as she asked but he also felt that she would leave him at any given time.

But now he felt very differently.

After a long silence, he didn’t know how to describe what he was feeling so he said softly, “I still can’t believe in astrology but I believe you.

“I have no idea how the stars rate your ability in astrology but if you say you are the best in the world then I guess you must be.”

Tan Muxing was still skeptical toward metaphysics but he did not doubt Chu Qianli. Or that he didn’t care even if she was lying to him. He was okay with it whether she truly has the ability or that she was just bluffing.

His words made Chu Qianli’s tail stuck straight up toward the sky. She raised her chin complacently and said, “Oh, you have pretty much just said you believe in astrology. As I am the best in the world, believing in me means believing in the stars……

“Besides, the most interesting thing about astrology is that, whether you believe in it or not, the stars can still see through you.” Chu Qianli’s eyes sparkled and she smiled a little. “Even those who are skeptical about or attack astrology are merely following the rhythm of the stars.”

Mankind always looks at the world with their subjective understanding but the stars in the sky are an objective existence. Let it be the ones who believe in the stars or those who doubt them, nobody would affect the stars in the sky.
