Mu Qingyao had indeed heard about the amateur competition but never paid attention to it. After all, how many good pianists could there be without a certificate?
It was said that all the participants in the amateur competition considered the piano as a hobby. Some of them came from average family backgrounds and couldn’t afford to hire private tutors. Most of them had not even taken formal piano classes.
There had never been a case where someone from the amateur competition could rival a participant of the licensed competition. How come there was a dark horse this time? Was it possible to be so talented?
Mu Qingyao was a little curious and wanted to go to the lounge of the amateur competition to take a look. When she walked to the door, she saw the people preparing inside and not long after her eyes rested on Xu Xinduo.
Xu Xinduo was too eye-catching. Even if she was just sitting in the crowd, she could be noticed at a glance. She had a very outstanding temperament and appearance. She was a person who would never be hidden.
Mu Qingyao’s heart immediately tightened. Was Xu Xinduo the dark horse in the amateur competition?
It’s her again!
Another thought suddenly appeared in Mu Qingyao’s heart.
Why is it her again!
Xu Xinduo had already won the table tennis, tennis, and mixed martial arts competitions so it was obvious that she was very good at sports.
But how could she even play the piano?!
Piano was not something that you could control with excellent physical abilities. Mu Qingyao had been playing the piano since she remembered.
Can Xu Xinduo practise the piano?
How is that possible?
There are music lessons in the countryside, but are there piano lessons too? Can Xu Xinduo afford them?
Mu Qingyao ran away in panic but did nothing.
She couldn’t do anything right now.
Moreover, she also didn’t believe that Xu Xinduo would be very good at it.
After entering the second half of the competition, the host announced: “Next will be the participants from the amateur competition. The first one to go to the stage will be Xu Xinduo from the Rocket Class of Jiahua international school. She is going to perform 《Liszt – La Campanella》.”
(T/L: You can listen to this piano piece HERE.)
After the host left, the crowd was a little surprised. A participant from the amateur competition chose a difficult track such as 《Liszt – La Campanella》.
Was this a gamble?
According to rumours, 《Liszt – La Campanella》 was once considered an “impossible to play” piece.
When Xu Xinduo was practising, she often had problems in one place. There was a section where you needed to jump four octaves very quickly with one hand. It was to imitate the sound of a bell and also to challenge your limit.
After Xu Xinduo took the stage, there were fierce discussions. It was true that the appearance and temperament of this player were too good.
This kind of appearance would give people a visual impact. People were visual animals and would subconsciously have a good impression of such good-looking girls.
After Xu Xinduo sat down, she began to play.
The tune of her piano seemed to have come to life. The rhythm was not rigid but coherent and comfortable to listen to.
If [Chopin – Nocturne in C Sharp Minor (No. 20)] had a comfortable and cosy feeling to it, then [Liszt – La Campanella] was intense.
The tune was always cheerful as if the clock was ringing.
While Xu Xinduo was playing, the audience was silent. After she finished her performance, there was a burst of applause. It was amazing. It was like watching a great pianist performing in a competition for teenagers.
Xu Xinduo got up and bowed, then stepped down.
