Hi, everybody. I have recently started a new novel called I’ll Become a Villainess That Will Go Down in History. You can read it HERE.

Tong Yan got up and turned on the projector. He controlled it with his mobile phone and switched to the central station.

Grandma Xu was taken aback as she looked up at the projector before directing her gaze towards the wall. Then, she asked, “The TV is on the wall?”

“Mmhm, awesome right? Doesn’t it remind you of a cinema?”

“I initially thought that it was a lamp and I wanted to say that this lamp was not very attractive.”

‘Spring Festival Gala Countdown’ was played on the projector and Grandma Xu watched it cheerfully.

After putting down the phone, Tong Yan sat next to Xu Xinduo. He nudged her with his knee and whispered, “Why are you so lost in thought?”

“I’m so angry.”

“Is it that hard to understand the meanings behind his actions? His dilemma was probably caused by me and my mother.”

“Mm… I think so too.”

“Let’s move Grandma Xu to another nursing home after Chinese New Year.”

“Great.”

Grandma Xu went to bed very early every day. However, she stayed up past her curfew that night till an unprecedented hour of 9:30pm.

Tong Yan and Xu Xinduo finished their dumplings and sat on the sofa in the living room to watch TV together. She talked about what she was thinking of so intensely, “Actually, it would not be a good thing to accept my true identity and become reclaimed into the Mu family; I want to leave now. If they give me a renewed identity and I am no longer an adopted daughter, it is going to be harder for me to break my ties with the family itself.”

“Mm, since you want to get rid of them, it would be best to have no involvement at all.”

“It would make sense for me to say that I am living with you under the pretense of your family providing a poor student some financial aid. Even with that story, I will at least retain my freedom. But if I am presented with my real identity, I would have to change my family name to Mu and will henceforth have lawful ties with the family. In the future, it would be hard for me to not carry out my duty as a daughter of the Mu family and repay my ‘gratitude’ towards them.”

Tong Yan couldn’t help sighing after hearing this, “Before this, I felt uncomfortable with how they were treating you— when you wanted fair treatment, they turned a blind eye; but now that you don’t want it, they barge their way through to arrange matters and add responsibilities for you to shoulder. All of this is done for their own pompous claims, never once thinking about what you want to do.”

Xu Xinduo lowered her eyes and said, “They may think that this is a compromise because in their eyes, I moved out because I protested. But to be honest, I really wanted nothing more than to break the ties I have with them. There are some things in the world that aren’t given to you when you desire them, but that doesn’t mean the longing for it remains the same should it be presented to you in the future..”

“Yes, but the part that is ticking me off the most is the fact that they will put the blame on you. They would comment falsely on how immature you are and blatantly question your intentions. Thinking about it just makes my anger boil…”

Xu Xinduo was in a bad mood again. The skit was playing on TV, but she didn’t manage to laugh even once and sighed in defeat.

Tong Yan immediately opened his arms and said, “It’s okay, let brother hug you.”

Xu Xinduo actually leaned into Tong Yan’s arms as she buried her face on his shoulder and said in a low voice, “Actually, we’re not sure who is the older brother or the older sister.”

“I am the older brother anyway.”

“On what basis?”

“The basis of me being taller than you,” After finishing, he added, “I am also taller than Mu Qingyi.”
