CHAPTER 53 EVERYTHING IS CALM

"So do I. We can tell each other our problems," she gabbled on happily.

I envied her smile.

I suddenly grabbed her arm and pulled her outside the chapel.

"Where are you taking me again? We can talk about it inside!"

"I just saw the dead priest's head. You might get scared. Get in."

"What?"

"Get in,"

I repeated as I opened the car door.

"If you're going to commit suicide don't take me with you."

I hurriedly went in when she was seated. She was restless as she leaned her head against the window as if trying to see if anybody was watching around.

"Those are tinted windows. Nobody will see you from the outside," I remarked.

"Are you hiding from somebody?"

"You noticed?"

"So you were indeed hiding from someone?"

"Not really," she sighed.

"I'm just scared somebody might see me with another man aside from my boyfriend. You know, rumors spread around fast in here."

My world suddenly stopped.

Was he the man she was with according to Deo?

"Boyfriend?"

She nodded silently.

Everything grew quiet throughout the drive.

"Do you know some Drive Thru around here?" I broke the ice.

"To the right."

There it was.

"What do you like to have?" I asked with a little smile.

"Your treat?" She has the habit to answer a question with another question. Her eyes lit up.

"Burger! And a lot of French fries."

"Sure."

She was suddenly noisy again as we drove off.

"You bought a lot, I'll get fat eating all of these."

"We'll share," I corrected.

"You know French fries is my favorite when I'm stress eating. I think these'll help you too."

"Maybe," I shrugged.

"We've gotten far," she noticed,

"Are we going to that place again?"

I nodded and glanced at her,

"Are you worried that your boyfriend will look for you?"

"I wish not," she munched at her burger,

"How about you? Won't your girlfriend be jealous?"

"I never had any."

"Seriously?" she leaned to my direction with big eyes.

I thought so.

"I hate women."

"But…but I'm a woman!" she stated disbelievingly.

"I don't see you as one."

"What?" she complained and suddenly looked away.

"I'm a bona fide feminine woman in every single way."

"Easily offended I see," I grinned.

"You're the third woman in my life- mother and Sya."

"Is Sya your ex-girlfriend?"

I laughed.

"She raised me after my mom passed away."

"I see," she mumbled.

"She's old."

I nodded slightly, "Late fifties."

"I also lost my mom for a while now. But I have a stepmother."

"It's fine as long as you're all happy now. How was it?"

She froze and looked at me confusedly.

"I mean…how's your stepmom?"

I immediately corrected my mistake.

"Just fine…"

The plateau stared beautifully at us from outside. The sun wasn't setting yet.

Everything was just perfect.

"We're here," I announced.
