Chapter 91 - Chapter 90

((( CLAIRE )))

My smile didn't reach my eyes.

"No thanks. Why…why didn't you tell me the truth early?"

"If a billionaire asks you not to, you can't," Deo played with his glass.

"That's how my job works."

I scoffed and leaned on the railing too.

"The rich really liked to play games, especially with a nobody like me. The risks are comparatively small."

He smirked.

"The risks aren't as little as you think."

I shrugged.

"Say, will you still look at him the same after everything you knew today?" he took a sip.

"Of course I don't him to see me anymore."

"Why not?" he raised his brows.

"After all the both of you have been through? Zhio doesn't have friends but he treated you as one."

"I can't. He's super rich, I'm poor. We wouldn't get along well thereafter," I sighed.

"I've been having a hard time dealing with Derick already. If it wasn't for him….I don't know…maybe I've sold my soul. But I'm suffering in return."

"Because you're pathetically letting yourself suffer. You can just let go anytime you wanted to," another familiar voice spoke.

It has warmth and coldness altogether.

My heart raced once more at the sight of Zhio.

I was speechless…

Deo was about to leave us but I outpaced him. I don't want to be there alone with Zhio. My knees were buckling as I passed him quietly.

"I'm going back."

"Then…" his words made me stop briefly.

"I just hope you'll learn how to happy with him."

I resumed my walk with a heavy heart. I feared that little by little, we'd be drifting far apart. That the friendship we had would be ruptured by one single fact.

It has happened.

I had already taken my step away from his life.

Suppressing all hurt, I could only thank him silently.

Thanks a lot, Zhio…
