Chapter 96 - Chapter 95

((( CLAIRE )))

He parked the car, the same Bugatti that Zhio used when I still knew him as Zhion, across the street outside my house. He sped off immediately after I entered the gate.

"That didn't seem like your boyfriend," Dexter stood by the patio, his arms crossed tightly.

Was that really my older brother? He sure talked differently.

"He's busy with the guests so I just hitched a ride in his friend's car,"

I lied.

I've been lying a lot lately. Minus points to Heaven.

"Did Derick do something terrible again?"

"He wouldn't. That's a formal occasion," I raised one brow.

"And why aren't you sleeping already?"

"Waiting for you of course. Go upstairs and get some sleep."

"Fine," I nodded and went straight to my room.

Did he eat some kindness pills? In all fairness, it was effective.

As soon as I reached the bedroom, I immediately took off my high heels and threw them in the corner. My feet felt sore from wearing them all night.

The entirety of the day was exhausting so I pulled a towel and jumped on the Jacuzzi for a hot bath. Half-submerged in the lavender-scented water, I inevitably recalled everything that happened.

I remembered Derick kissing me…

I hurriedly rinsed myself from the soapy bath and brushed my teeth repeatedly until the memory of Derick's lips grossly touching on my lips became tolerable.

It was my first kiss! Or maybe not, that doesn't count. I did not initiate it so it meant that wasn't my first kiss.

Then I remembered Zhion…or Zhio.

I still couldn't believe what I discovered. Somewhere within, I felt regret.

Regret?

But for what?

Just as I finished my bath, I heard the faint ring of a call from my phone.

It was Derick.

"Where were you? The security footage showed Zhio's secretary giving you a ride. Did you go home?"

"Where else would I go? Deo took me home."

"And you know him?" his tone rose in suspicion.

"Yes. Didn't I told you I saw someone I know?"

"And he's just a friend?" he added.

"Yes. I promise."

"Alright. I believe you," he sighed.

"And by the way I'll be taking you out tomorrow afternoon. At three."

"Where again?" I raised my brows to the highest I could.

"Secret. See yah tomorrow," I heard his smile.

"I love you princess."

"Okay," I frowned to my heart's content. He couldn't see me after all.

"Good night Derick."

I pressed the end call immediately and rolled leisurely on the huge bed. On the corner of my eye, I saw the two coats hanging behind the opened closet door.
