((( DERICK POV's )))
Jasmin's face was hopeful when I saw her. But when she wept, the bad memories of me in her seemed to have resurfaced. She really don't deserve someone like me… I felt happy when I finally hugged her.
But Rhio suddenly pulled her away.
"Rhio…"
"What Jasmin?" Rhio was furious, "Are you going back to him?"
She shook her head, "Please let go of my arm."
"Rhio," I interrupted them, "there's something I have to tell Jasmin."
"Tell her now!" his grip tightened on her.
"I don't have any intentions to get her back but if you continue treating her like that I might do so."
He freed her arm.
"Jasmin, I'm sorry. I'm so sorry," I faced her again, "I loved you but I think I've taken you for granted. I didn't think of your safety. Maybe that wasn't love at all. Right? But I've seen that Rhio truly loves you…that's why he's been like that. He could protect you…unlike me."
"Derick…"
"Rhio, I looked at him again, "Don't ever neglect Jasmin's safety…or else you'd have to explain to my fists. Take care of her and your baby."
"Leave!" he yelled.
"Derick," Jasmin smiled a little, "I'm sorry if I messed your life too. I'm sorry if I let you hope until now that I---"
"No Jasmin. It's okay. Rhio, remember what I told you. Don't ever leave Jasmin. Well, I think this will be the last time we'd see each other…"
"Der---"
"Take him away," Rhio yelled again. I turned back from them and got in my car. I'd leave the country with the woman I knew will just mess with Jasmin's life. It was painful but I felt much better with that pain than with all the hatred I felt before.
I can now breathe my own fresh air. And I'd never let anybody hold me by the neck again.
