((( JASMIN POV's )))
The cab's radio was turned on.
Since it'd be a long ride, the news would be a good thing to kill time. But I didn't expect I'd hear his name.
His innocence. Damn.
Why did I ever doubt him? I slammed my palm against my forehead bitterly.
Rhio must've already found out that I escaped. And I'm sure he's boiling in anger.
"Are you alright?" the driver asked.
"Oh yes," I faked a smile. Then I heard my name.
Rhio's searching for me all over.
"She's also pregnant," the driver looked at me, "…that Jasmin Masadra that they were looking for."
"I heard."
"You're pregnant…"
"Coincidence," I tried to laugh. But I was breathless.
Did he recognize me? Does the world already knew what Jasmin Masadra looked like?
I tried to be silent to wear off his suspicion but I had a gut feeling we were just circling around the same route we passed by earlier.
Until the cab stopped…
"Ma'am," he looked at me again, "I'll just buy something."
He went to a retail store but I noticed he paid for a phone call. I wanted to believe I was just paranoid.
"Ma'am…you're getting off on the next town aren't you?" he asked me when he returned.
"Yes." He sped off again on the route I knew wasn't taking me to where I wanted. He's taking me back to where I hailed him.
"What's this? The car's going to where we came from?"
"I'm sorry ma'am," he kept his eyes away from me, "I confirmed it was you they were looking for. I just needed money so please forgive me…I'm returning you to them."
Did he mean…?
"Please…" my eyes widened as familiar cars came in nearby. I knew they belonged to Rhio's men.
Oh God! The moment the cab stopped, I hastily ran away.
Rhio's men started running behind me.
Shit!
"Help me!" I screamed for help. There were lots of people around but they just stared as the men took me.
"Help me!" I thought it was impossible, but few bystanders dared to help me.
There were trashing, a few punches, a struggle…until successfully, someone took me away from Rhio's men. He led me to a car.
There was a boy inside and I remembered they were the family I saw at the park. I almost failed my escape but thank goodness somebody saved me.
No, I haven't escaped yet.
There were still cars following us but the car I was on was skilfully maneuverer.
We passed through a long winding alley until we lost every single one of them.
"Why are they following you Miss?" I didn't answer.
"Daddy, she's pale." I felt sick. My heart was pounding so fast that I feared it would burst inside my chest.
"Bhon, give her some water," he told the boy and looked at me, "Please calm down. I think we escaped them."
Bhon gave me the bottled water.
"I was scared for you when I saw you running at that state," the man said, "you're pregnant for goodness' sake." I felt really dizzy.
And before I knew it, I blacked out.
