After the disastrous duet of Lu Fang and Andrea, General Lei decided it was time to leave. The more he saw the couple being very expressive of their love, the more he realized, he needed to get over her.
Two of his men already prepared his car outside the hotel lobby and as he exited the elevator, he got another text from Rou Chunhua.
"I'm actually in Guangzhou. I have been for the past two days visiting a relative. I heard that this is your hometown, which is why I texted you."
He entered the backseat of his car contemplating. It took him about five minutes on the road before deciding to give a reply. "I was wondering if you would accompany me for a drink."
He got an answer within seconds detailing her current location and it did not take long for him and his men to drive to another direction.
Nameless Lounge was a known KTV and bar in Guangzhou. The establishment offered utmost privacy for their guests. Their private rooms were huge and chic in design, furnished with luxurious amenities. It was there that the General brought Rou Chunhua.
Unlike their usual meeting, the General was not in his uniform. Chunhua instantly thought he looked different, less domineering. Today, he looked more like a normal achieved man.
His white suit complemented his tanned face. As opposed to most men, he grew his beard about one to two centimeters long which was apparent up to his jawlines. The style went well with his military preferred buzz cut hair making him look ruggedly handsome. His eyes were black and his hair was dark as the night. All these added to the perfect look of cold-hearted General.
"So, General – "
"Dong… You can call me Dong."
She smiled at him, appreciating being considered a friend. "Dong, why did you want to have a drink?"
"I need help. Can you help me?" he asked.
"I'm happy to help you with anything. What is it about?"
He was scanning through the menu, choosing what food and drinks to order while answering, "Help me forget."
"Pfft. Forget what?"
There was no answer. Instead, he called for a waiter to take their request and said, "Buy anything you like. It's on me."
She understood the restraint, so she took the menu and ordered to her heart's content. Besides, she had been deprived of all the goodness in life for a long time. She deserved to have a taste of the best.
It has only been a few days since her discharge from the military hospital in Tianjin and everything around her seemed bizarre. Moreover, due to Rou Yanlin's scheming ways of monopolizing the Rous' wealth, her spending days ended while still in college. Their family became normal middle age earners after that. If not for her mother's need for medical care, her father would not have pressed on Rou Yanlin to give back his share of the wealth. This eventually led to her being captive for almost a year.
When their food and drinks arrived, Lei Dong was taken aback with how plenty she ordered. He could not help but ask, "Didn't you have dinner? Why so many?"
"You said I could order anything? I wanted to try these kinds of expensive food."
He let out a sigh before agreeing, "Very well."
After having drunk several bottles of beer, Lei Dong was starting to turn red. Rou Chunhua took notice and decided to take advantage of the situation and probed, "So why have a drink? And why chose me? You probably have so many friends and you can always drink with your men."
"I wanted to be reckless tonight. For once, I wanted to get drunk… And I did not want to do it with someone who knows me well… At least if it's you, the chances of telling my family are lesser." Still the same, he refused to tell her the reason for his behavior.
"I see. So you are using me?"
"Well… Isn't it that you like me?"
Chunhua almost choked hearing his words. Truth be told, she did find him attractive. In fact, she had liked him since their third meeting at the hospital. He was a young and handsome General. She thought, 'who would not like him?'
She realized, perhaps, she was being a little more aggressive. She had been sending him text messages that were not related to the asylum case. She assumed her actions only suggested being friendly and would not give away her interest towards him.
"What gave you that idea?" She asked in an effort to deny the truth.
"It's the way you look at me… I normally don't like it when women stare at me, but yours were different. You weren't practically drooling over me just… just admiring."
He stood up and removed his jacket feeling the alcohol increasing his body temperature.
Seeing Chunhua turned shy, looking at the other direction, he tried to make her feel comfortable. "It's fine, really. I needed company and you are enjoying mine. So I take it, we are both in favor of this encounter."
He walked towards her and they both sat next to each other before starting a legitimate conversation, "So, tell me more about yourself."
The two spent the rest of the night getting to know each other. They threw questions after questions while eating and drinking, discovering even their humorous past. They were both very engaged with their topic when suddenly, she felt cold lips touch hers. She did not see it coming. She wanted to resist, but could she?
Lei Dong continued to kiss her gently and began to hold her neck with both hands. She studied him carefully as he nibbled on her lip, she saw his eyes completely closed. Eventually, she gave in and responded by opening her mouth, allowing his tongue to enter.
They were at it for more than ten minutes until he came to his senses and pulled away saying, "I'm sorry... I did not mean to... we better go."
He brought her back to her relative's house and before getting off the car, Chunhua asked, "What was it that you wanted to forget?"
Hearing the question he looked down and breathed heavily. He felt guilty after having kissed her but knew he needed to come clean, "I wanted to forget a woman… I'm sorry about today. It won't happen again."
Inside the house, Chunhua felt pain on her chest. 'Naturally, someone like him already has a partner. Why did I even bother?'
