...
At an old, almost decrepit bungalow near the edge of Imperial City, a man dressed impeccably in a suit with a striped design was standing at a balcony as he overlooked the profile of the city. From afar, he could see helicopters circling the city.
He could hear footsteps coming from behind him, and a few seconds later, a man's polite voice could be heard. "Master Su, they are here."
The man turned around and nodded. "Prepare the room... Is there anything from the madam?"
"Madam is still at the office. She called earlier and told me to let you know that the young master is at the office with her and that he's already asleep. And that she has some work to finish up, but she would try to be home before 1 a.m."
Su Wei nodded before walking back into the house. His wife was always extremely competitive and hardworking, so he was used to her working late.
He slowly walked down to the ground floor, where his men were already waiting with the woman that he wanted to see. He frowned slightly when he saw the cuts on the woman's face, and how one of his men was grabbing her arm tightly.
As he was walking down the stairs, he could see that the woman's eyes went from confusion to one of realization, and when he was finally standing in front of her, he asked with a gentle smile as he waved his hand nonchalantly to signal his men to take a step back, "Do you recognize me, Ms. Xiao?"
"Su Wei!" Xiao Lei spat out his name as she rubbed her sore right arm, where one of the men grabbed onto her. "Did she put you up to this?"
"She? Looks like you know your real identity..." Su Wei said with a sigh. "I was hoping that everything was just a coincidence and that like dramas, you are suffering from memory loss, but somehow managed to find your way home. But to answer your question, no, no one puts me up to this. I just want to talk to you."
Xiao Lei sneered, "You could have made an appointment, you know? Like a normal human being."
Su Wei chuckled. He signaled Xiao Lei to sit at the couch, and when Xiao Lei merely glared at him, unmoving, Su Wei walked over to sit instead. Upon sitting down, he crossed his legs and tapped on the arm of the couch before saying, "I thought of making an appointment with you, Ms. Xiao, but unfortunately, I don't think we would be able to talk freely, not if you're that man's woman... Oh, congratulation on your relationship. Han Ye is not a bad man."
"Do you know him?" Xiao Lei frowned. She had never heard Han Ye say anything about Su Wei other than he was Fan Xiyue's husband and that his family was quite reputable as well. There was nothing that indicated that they were friends or anything.
Su Wei shrugged. "Well, I know him, but he probably doesn't know me. See, my wife used to tell me about how much of a troublemaker Han Ye was... But other than that, Han Ye and I also went to the same university. Different courses, of course. He was quite a popular one then, with girls flocking to him constantly even though they knew he had a girlfriend."
"What do you want, Su Wei?" Xiao Lei asked abruptly as she glanced at the four other men around the room.
"Just a little talk..." Su Wei said as he signaled her to sit down again. When Xiao Lei finally sit down this time, Su Wei added, "We don't have much time. As President Du's most trusted man, I'm sure he could easily move the Du Family's army, so I will make this short."
He then leaned forward, with his elbows placed on his knees as his fingers interlinked together, and said, "I want you to give up on whatever you are planning, Ms. Xiao... Or should I say, Ms. Fan Wushuang..."
Her eyes were slightly wide open, but instead of appearing to be intimidated or surprised, Xiao Lei merely leaned back into the couch and crossed her legs. "I see you knew... Since when?"
When she went to the party at the Fan Mansion, she had expected that some of them would make the connection and would probably search on her. But she never expected that person to be Su Wei, a man whom she had never met prior to that.
"Did Xiyue tell you?" Xiao Lei asked again, when she thought about how Fan Xiyue tried to take her DNA during the dinner with President Wei. She thought that maybe she failed to fully foil Fan Xiyue's plan.
"That doesn't matter," Su Wei said with a gentle smile. "What matters most is that you should never appear back in our world, Ms. Xiao. Why now? Why did you return after being gone for so many years?"
"If you knew who I was, then you should know why I returned. Fan Entertainment belongs to me, and no one has more rights to it than me."
"Perhaps it was once yours, should you stay, but you abandoned your family and were gone for so long, and Xiyue has been the one holding the company up. You have no right to come out of nowhere and take it from her," Su Wei said as he narrowed his eyes a little.
He knew that most people thought his marriage with Fan Xiyue was just a marriage of convenience, but only he knew that he was not the type to marry anyone for convenience. He was truly in love with his wife, and there was nothing he would not do to protect her.
"I'm sorry, Mr. Su, but I did not abandon anyone..." Xiao Lei scoffed as she clenched her fists. "Maybe you need to check your facts properly." Her eyes darted to the windows as she spoke.
"There's no point. We would have at least 20 minutes before anyone could find you. My men have placed scramblers around, in case you come with a tracker," Su Wei said slowly when he saw her movements. He then continued, "Back to our conversation, Ms. Xiao, I don't know why you left back then or what really happened, but I know that if you return now and try to fight for the ownership of Fan Entertainment, nothing good would happen to it. Especially with your identity."
"My identity? 'The beloved long lost daughter of President Fan Lei has finally resurfaced after years of disappearance'. I'm sure that would generate plenty of publicity for Fan Entertainment, and maybe even fix everything that has been broken by you guys over the years, so please tell me. Why won't anything good come from it?" Xiao Lei asked with a sneer.
