Chapter 382 - Would you want to risk it all?

Su Wei kept an eye on Xiao Lei, and he had a feeling that this woman before him did not know the truth about herself.

"If you try to come out now, you would be placing yourself and your son in danger. Your newfound career as an actress... Do you think that you would still be able to work as an actress after that? And Mr. Han too. He's not a nobody, and his reputation and fame might take a hit because of that. Not to mention that Du Corporation would be indirectly affected as well. Would you want to risk all that just to get back your real identity? If it's money that you want, I can provide it to you."

Upon hearing his threat, Xiao Lei frowned and sat forward slightly. Her gaze turned sharp as she looked at the man who dared to kidnap here when Han Ye was just nearby. She had only met Su Wei just that one time, but the fact that he was married to Fan Xiyue told her that he was not just a simple man who came from a rich family.

She then scoffed, "Mr. Su, I think you are mistaking something. I have no interest in the money that comes with my identity as Fan Wushuang. I'm only back to take back everything that should have been mine right from the start. My son, Han Ye, and I have gone through a lot, and we can overcome anything that you and those in Fan Family throw at us... And if you're trying to threaten me, that's not going to work. You have no idea what life was like the last couple of years!"

"Perhaps," Su Wei said nonchalantly. He could tell from what his wife told him about Xiao Lei that she did not have an easy past, what with her husband passing and having to raise a son all by herself. However, he could not take pity on her, not when his own family's life and reputation were at stake.

And so, he added, "But I know that life wouldn't be much easier if you jump back and claim your identity again. You would be opening up many cans of worms that are otherwise better left unknown."

Ting!

Su Wei's phone sounded in his pocket, and he quickly took out his phone to take a look at the new message.

With her eyes narrowed suspiciously, she then asked, "What do you mean?"

It appeared to her that Su Wei's words had more meaning to it then it seemed. What did he mean by "opening up many cans of worms that are otherwise better left unknown"?

"Mr. Su, I'm asking you a question," Xiao Lei said when he saw that Su Wei's attention was on his phone. "What do you mean by your words?"

Instead of answering her question, Su Wei stood up abruptly. He glanced at his watch before waving a hand at his men, who then immediately nodded and moved from their original positions. Once they were gone, Su Wei then glanced at Xiao Lei and said, "Your man is indeed the assistant of the scariest man here. He managed to find out the rough location in such a short time, hence, I have to end our conversation here, Ms. Xiao. I hope you will reconsider your plan, for everyone's sake."

He then walked to the door, but before he left, he turned around and looked at Xiao Lei with a gentle smile. "If I were you, I would just stay here until Mr. Han arrives. This is not a very safe place for a young woman to run around. Mr. Han or his men should arrive in the next 5 minutes."

He then nodded before continuing, "Good day, and once again, I apologize for the inconvenience."

After he left the house, Xiao Lei went to the window and saw three identical cars driving off from the compound of the old bungalow. She then murmured to herself, "At least he's less violent than my last kidnapper... and kind of a well-mannered kidnapper too. Somewhat."

Xiao Lei looked out of the window and wondered whether she should stay or escape, but given how Su Wei did not try to hurt her and seemed to be genuinely upset when he saw her injuries, she felt like she should give him the benefit of the doubt.

After all, she only had to wait 5 minutes. If there was no sign of Han Ye or any help, she would burst out of this place on her own.

"Argh..." Xiao Lei cried out softly as she bowled over slightly with her hand over her stomach. "F*ck... It hurts..."

She had been ignoring the pain earlier so as to no bring any attention to it, but now that she was alone, she could no longer ignore it.

Xiao Lei slowly lowered herself until she was resting on her knees as she tried to convince herself that everything was alright. "Breath, Xiao Lei... Breath... It's nothing serious..." she mumbled as she tried to push the pain out of her mind. However, she could feel something wet in her underwear, and it only made her even more worried than earlier.

A few minutes later, she heard the sound of people moving outside, and within a few seconds, someone burst into the house.

"Go, go, go!" someone yelled.

Xiao Lei thought she heard hundreds of footsteps rushing into the old bungalow, including some that were heading toward her. And through her blurred vision, she saw two men in masks slowly heading toward her, and she suddenly found her face very close to the floor.

"It's her! It's Ms. Xiao!" Xiao Lei heard someone yelling, "Inform Mr. Han now!"

Because the signals from the tracker were messed up by the scrambler, they had to split up into three groups to comb the area, and Han Ye was with one of the other groups.

Before she went unconscious, Xiao Lei also heard someone ask, "Is she alright? She looks a little pale..."

"Is that blood on her pants? There, on her inner thighs!" someone asked with a worried voice.

Xiao Lei could feel someone moving her legs apart, but she was too lightheaded to deal with it. "H-Han Ye..." was all that she muttered under her breath before her vision turned completely dark.
