Two days ago, Y Country.
Heavy yet steady footsteps reverberated in the soundless passageway of the esteemed C Company's head office.
Turning all heads around him, a debonair and charmingly cold Lucifer was seen trudging nonchalantly. Attired in a cool blue suit jacket perfect for the blazing summers of Y Country his looks outdid the country's best good-looking men.
His silver gray impassive eyes were narrowed sharply, with one hand in his pocket Lucifer lazily strode inside the office with a bespectacled lady in a black business suit skirt escorting him respectfully.
"Miss Callista, President of Chang Holdings Mr Lucifer is here..", she announced after opening the door to Callista's office.
The office was painted grey and white, and it had only one floor-to-ceiling window, which faced the main road. On the grey desk sat a desktop computer, a notebook lying open, and a stack of papers sitting under a turtle-shaped paperweight. There was a comfy couch in all black at the left side beside a large porcelaine potted plant, a round coffee table across the couch.
A bookshelf, bursting with books was in a corner. In a corner, the air conditioner was blasting at medium, and there was a swivel chair in the middle of the office with a beautiful caucasian woman perched on it.
Callista raised her head and eyed the secretary who had a pink tint on her cheeks mentioning Lucifer's name with her trembling lips.
"Miss Callista, It's a pleasure to meet you again!", a magnetic sounding voice echoed breaking the tense silence.
Retracting her chilly gaze from the smitten secretary Callista looked at the man with a king like presence sauntering inside with his long legs, subconsciously her lips curled into a breezy smile. She stood up with a curt nod.
"The pleasures all mine to have the highly regarded Mr Lucifer here. Please have a seat..", she motioned to the comfy couch before leading the way.
The secretary was frozen on spot as she witnessed the phantasmal events in front of her eyes. She blinked like a doll looking at the two gorgeous creatures interacting pleasantly in awe. Her eyes twitched when Callista caught her sight, a stern expression on her poker face. Coughing, the secretary scurried out of the room like a rabbit.
"I see your charms have drastically surpassed your stoic face since the last time I saw you..", she scoffed, he shook his head with a subtle smile resting on his lips.
"I didn't expect you to tease me like this..", he lamented albeit with a playful tone, she laughed lightly at his remarks.
"It's good to see you even if it's for business purpose.. How are you? And what about Ethan?", she asked him with a bonafide gentle smile.
"Oh please, you don't even attempt to get in touch outside of business. If not for this collaboration between our companies I doubt you'd ever give me your time..", he looked at her pretending to be vexed, she shook her head denying his claims.
"What? It's not a lie.. I'm in Y Country since.. Um? Yes, a week and I get to see you today.. After seven days! That's really a long time to make a friend wait, you know.."
He began rebuking her mercilessly with an irritatingly sweet smile pasted on his face like a true friend. She had no choice but to resign and accept his reproachful words.
"I'm sorry, it was hectic and I couldn't push my responsibilities.. I really am sorry for being a bad friend!", she looked adorable, her subordinates would puke blood seeing her apologize to him so sweetly.
"It's okay, now don't make me the bad guy and stop flashing your exquisite puppy eyes! I'm, as you see, fit and fine. Ethan's all dandy as well.. I heard you're about to get hitched to that gorilla-guy!", he guffawed after ending the last sentence.
She looked miffed by his mocking tone and nick-name, still nodded with a bright smile on her dazzling face.
"No offense but.. I'm happy for him!", he chuckled, she laughed lightly at his witty words as usual.
"What about you? Don't you ever plan to get married?", a twinkle in her greenish-blue eyes, pursing her lips she was waiting for him to answer.
Lucifer's smile cracked at she broached the topic of marriage, something that never occurred to him even once in his lifetime.
An enchanting and angelic face with a sweet smile and rosy lips that could lead to war between any two countries flashed in his silvery gray irises. A subtle smile with a lot of love crept up his lips astounding Callista who looked dazed.
She cleared her throat awkwardly. She could understand why all those women out there were going crazy for this man. She chuckled lightly, an odd look on his face as he scanned her like she was an antique.
"Yeah right, I totally forgot about this.. The time you asked me about ROSE, I quizzed Emi about it.. He happened to know something, about a treasured paintbrush. I don't remember exactly..", she scrunched her eyebrows in confusion, trying to remember.
He looked at her with a faint smile, it was grim and dark just like his eyes. She looked at him with a blank face, scared. She didn't intend to make him sad or anything.
"I'm sorry.. Uh! What time is your flight? I might not be able to accompany you..", she looked at him with an apologetic smile trying to divert his attention.
He sighed heavily, it was dramatic and started lamenting in an aggrieved manner. She looked on at his oscar winning performance.
"Of course, that gorilla-guy is your top priority now..", his eyes full of mischief that she'd already seen, her eyes smiling with a relieved expression.
Lucifer was the gem of a person and she knew him the best. His life is a tragedy that made her cold heart ache. She genuinely wished for him to have his own ending with a happily ever after.
"I'll see you in B city then..", saying that he stood up languidly gazing at her, a simple handshake to officially seal the deal between them.
"Hmm.. I'll text you my flight details along with the schedule! All the best for the seminar..", she shot him a brief smile with a warm gaze, he looked at her with equal warmth on his face before walking out of the room.
As he stood indifferently inside the glass door elevator Lucifer's eyes caught a glimpse of two fishy looking men. When he was trying to recollect their familiar looking faces his phone buzzed distracting his mind from them.

Night before the seminar
Lucifer got a call from Callista's secretary around midnight saying that her phone was unreachable since her flight landed, which was exactly at quarter past eight in the evening. She was in panic.
It was quite odd if you consider this seemingly tiny matter seriously.
Being a company's general manager Callista was a busy person, in any circumstances her phone would never be out of battery. However, this time both her phones, personal and working were out of reach. That clearly insinuated that something wasn't right.
Realizing the gravity of the situation he decided to go look for her personally. After all it was him who asked her to come for this seminar. The seminar is as much important to him as it was for her and her company.
He hastily arrived at hotel where she was currently staying. Standing outside her doorstep he could hear a series of vague noises. His gray eyes darkened with an unfathomable light, he opened the door with a spare key card.
