Chapter 314 - Arrow Shot In The Dark

"So, where's the auction taking place?"

Swirling the glass of clear, bubbling champagne between his slender fingers, the man's unfathomable gaze landed on Adrian. His tone sounded casual as he quizzed in his signature vibrato that could lead ladies to eargasms. It was that deep and powerful.

The pair of devil brothers were currently seated inside a black limousine that was heading towards their destination. Dressed to the nines, they were all ready to floor the ladies of X City.

"At 'The Skull Clubhouse'.."

Fiddling with his mobile phone with a frown resting between his perfectly carved, thick brows, Adrian answered Lucifer's question without sparing the latter a glance. His blue eyes fixated on his mobile screen.

Poor Adrian! He was trying to contact Su Yin from morning, the stubborn mule wasn't answering his calls nor replying to his messages. It was exasperating.

"Hmm.."

Elegantly taking a sip of the fragrant liquid gold, Lucifer merely hummed in reply. His gray orbs hid a smile, watching Adrian's frazzled self his lips curled up imperceptibly.

The Skull Clubhouse.

It's a famous entertainment club where many elites, actors, politicians as well as the perilous people from the underworld gather to have fun, along with other dealings. A six storey building, vast and bespoke of money from each corner, it was one of the most exorbitant establishments in all of X City. Not every person can freely enter inside, one needs to have an exclusive gold membership or at least a basic member card to step foot inside the club.

The Skull Clubhouse operates under the guise of a goth art club, auction house and nightclub. Even if it's not said aloud, it's no secret that it's a black hole for all the dirty dealings in X City.

Although this X City is small compared to B City, it was unpredictable and fraught with danger at each step. People with a faint heart cannot survive a day in the city without fearing for their life. It's that level of danger.

That's one of the many reasons why Lucifer wanted to hide the very existence of this city from Sera. Which in turn made him hide about his visit to X City from his beloved. Call him foolish or even paranoid, he was just trying to protect his woman.

The love of his life.

It's a well known fact that Sera is crazy about ROSE, anything concerning the latter gets her very excited. She wouldn't think twice before attending this auction just to catch a glimpse of the acclaimed but mysterious artist's possessions. Thus all the lies and deceit. It was all for Sera's safety.

Soon, Lucifer and Adrian were escorted to a private balcony booked under their name by the manager of 'The Skull'. From there, the view was akin to a hawk's gaze, clear and focused on the stage where the auction items would be displayed by mc.

The door to the private balcony closed with a soft click, Lucifer didn't avert his eyes from the stage where a beautiful lady in red was sashaying along with the mc, who was announcing. His gray orbs of wonder flickered with light, it's spark was intriguing that could seep into one's bones. His tone was unhurried, yet one could sense the loneliness behind it coupled with his burning resolve.

"It's likely that we encounter ROSE today.. It's also possible that we don't succeed in nabbing ROSE and walk out empty handed.. He might or might not be present here. Adrian, In any case I don't want to give up. Whatever might be the outcome I'll make sure to get to the bottom of this mysterious artist!"

As Lucifer's words fell on Adrian's ears, he stiffened for a moment before darting his eyes towards the man's somber face, tinged with anguish. His hands clenched surreptitiously on his sides. It was painful to watch his brother's agony.

"I'm sure you will.. I wanted to tell you the same thing. This opportunity today, it's like an arrow shot in the dark.. Whatever happens, we shouldn't let the outcome shroud our minds from the main objective"

The trio - Maya and Xavier Martinez along with Seraphina Lu, walked through the entrance with a dignified gait. Their chins held high.

The ever dashing Xav was dressed in a not-so-simple looking emerald green tailored suit paired with a white shirt and white pocket square. His brown hair styled with care, only a few fringes playfully covered a tiny part of his forehead. He strolled with the ladies on either side, looking like a total stud. His face had a subtle smile that was in perfect harmony with the type of setting they were in. Noble, indeed.

The hot brunette, Maya, was draped in a long white dress that had a low back cut, her short hair were curled into soft waves. A pair of beautiful emerald earrings dangled down her small ears, her neck was bare with a matching emerald bracelet kissing the tanned skin of her slender hand. Her chocolate brown eyes were rimmed with soft kohl, her lips were painted wine red and a soft blush colored her cheeks pink. The long slit of her dress gave the onlookers a generous peek of her toned long legs donning a matching pair of high heels. One look and men were swooning over Maya's sultry brown eyes and pouty red lips.

And the beauty that forced all the heads to turn, over and over again, just to catch a glimpse of the radiant face that was oozing sensuousness and purity. Innocence like no other. Seraphina Lu.

Sera's drool-worthy body was clad in a long sleeveless dress in emerald, it had a flowy fabric perfectly hugging her curves and edges. It had a jewel neck line embellished with large white and emerald stones. A pair of diamond studs completed the simple look. Her beautiful long hair were tied into a loose bun accentuating her jawline and swan neck. Exquisite makeup enhanced her features, her eyes were lined with soft eyeliner while her plump lips were in a deep red. The dress had a corset type fit on the waist where as the flowy skirt was floating down like a sea of green.

The trio occupied the middle table in the hall, in the second row, which had a great view.

"Guys.. Isn't this place a bit.."

Looking around the number of faces, gaudy, refined, well-known celebs, politicians even government officials, Sera felt quite overwhelmed. She leaned closer to Maya and whispered.

"Sshh.. It's starting"

The man who was feeling neglected stretched his neck in between the two ladies and shushed them, pointing towards the stage.

"Oh! Okay.."

Biting her red lips, Sera muttered softly and kept quiet, peering at the stage with her expectant eyes sparkling.
