Chapter 315 - The Bidding Starts Now

On the balcony.

Two young waitresses clad in extremely skimpy dresses entered with trays, sashaying their hips they placed them on the table.

Sneakily glancing at the two hot men before them, the two women smiled as their eyes shone akin to diamonds. Their faces flushed pink resembling freshly bloomed flowers. Batting their eyelids they leaned forward to serve the liquor and snacks to the indifferent Adrian and Lucifer.

One of them with chestnut brown hair and rather big bosom boldly leaned towards Lucifer whose unreadable gaze was fixated on the stage ahead. Her saccharine voice symphonic.

"Mister, do you want anything else.."

Without averting his gaze to the shocked front of the waitress, Lucifer's cold voice reverberated.

"Get out!"

The other waitress with curly black hair snagged her red lips, nervously and stood rooted to the ground. Terrified, she was unable to move. Her eyes darting from her pale face friend to the handsome man, one was shivering in fright while the other was too busy to spare a glance.

Adrian on the other hand had a devilish smile dancing on his thin lips, his blue eyes glimmering with a hint of mischief in them.

Unable to believe her ears, the waitress with a frozen expression on her immaculately made up face called out in confusion. Her voice trembling just like her rosy lips.

"Huh? Mister..?"

The other waitress with curly black hair almost dropped the liquor bottle as the aura around Lucifer turned icy cold. It was freezing.

Before the waitress could finish her sentence Lucifer ruthlessly interrupted her midsentence. Petrified, she took a step back almost stumbling.

"Don't make me repeat myself.."

The other waitress hurriedly opened the door to the balcony and fled leaving her friend alone to face the devil king's wrath. Adrian almost let out a laugh, enjoying the good show in front of his eyes.

*Gulp*

The ghastly waitress gulped in fear, she then turned around and fled the scene, crying pitifully.

"Haha.."

As soon as the door slammed close, Adrian burst out laughing with a hysterical expression. His throaty rumble echoed in the balcony, cheerful.

"What are you laughing about?"

Irked, Lucifer shot him a menacing glare, his tone harsh.

"Boss.. No, Lucifer.. Don't you think you've changed? I mean, if this was before.. You wouldn't have behaved so harshly with those girls. Instead you'd have smiled at them, cracking jokes.."

Stifling his sudden outburst of maniacal laughter, Adrian expounded with a sheepish expression. It was evident that he was having a fun time seeing all this drama.

It was true though.

Previously, Lucifer was always easygoing and laid back, he'd often crack jokes and have fun in such gatherings. Only if there was a perilous situation at hand, the man's devilish side would surface.

Otherwise, Lucifer wasn't so cold unlike Ethan who'd always have a stiff and polite smile on his face.

"Enough! I don't understand what you're trying to say.."

The usually composed Lucifer's expression cracked listening to Adrian, his face was oddly contorted and he immediately cut off his brother.

"Heh! Okay.."

Still laughing, Adrian nodded his head and clamped his mouth shut, biting his lips.

"Focus!"

Staring at the young auctioneer at the stage, Lucifer commanded.

"Yes, Boss!!"

Mimicking the action of a soldier, Adrian gave a dramatic salute to Lucifer as he spoke in determination.

In response, Lucifer simply gave him a cold glance before shaking his head, a small smile crept up his lips. A certain someone's face flashed past his eyes.

The young auctioneer on the stage was already prepared when the boys were talking, and the auction officially commenced when he hit the brass gong with a mallet.

"Ladies and gentlemen, good evening to you all! Thank you for attending our auction tonight"

"As usual, there will be 10 items up for bidding. The rules are the same as before. With that, I hereby announce that the auction has officially begun!"

The crowd gave a generous round of applause following the auctioneer's opening speech. The applause died down after several seconds, and the auctioneer spoke again.

"Thank you! Please maintain silence now. Let's take a look at our very first item for the night"

The several bright lights in the auction hall suddenly dimmed, leaving only the wall lights and the spotlights on the auction stand. People below held their breaths in anticipation.

The lady presenter, in a fiery red dress who was standing beside the auctioneer, went ahead to press a button in the middle of the stage, and an exhibition case slowly rose from the floor. Inside the transparent glass was a rare 'mother of pearl' necklace in subtle pink. It's image was magnified on the huge screen in the back.

As expected, there was a huge reaction from the crowd below the stage, when the auctioneer introduced this necklace as it was a rare piece. Especially the ladies, their eyes glimmered with the rare shine emitting from the handcrafted necklace in front of them.

"Wow.. That looks pricey!"

Ignoring all the gasps around her, Sera mumbled close to Maya's ears in a hushed manner. Her words reached the curious Xav who had his ears perked up with interest.

"Hah! I bet it's not a penny less than $3 million.."

Scoffing, Xav jumped in between Maya and Sera before the latter could utter a word in response.

"Well.. I agree with you on that brother.. It's a rare piece after all"

Nodding her head, Maya expressed her assent.

"Sshh.. Let's see what the auctioneer has to say on this.."

"The starting price for this necklace is $3 million. Each bid must be no less than $50,000. The bidding starts now!"

Just as the expert in the field, Mr Xavier Martinez had predicted.

After a round of intense bidding, the bid reached the final price of $7 million, on the grounds that the bids were fewer and fewer as time passed. And the necklace was sold to a beautiful middle-aged woman.

Since this was only the first item on the list and more were coming out later, the crowd planned to wait patiently for the other items.
