‘Which one should I chose?’ I thought, looking at the scattered requests posted on the board inside the Guild.
There’s actually something I was thinking all along.
“Do you guys have that much time to kill?”
“Where’s that coming from?”
“Well, I even got challenged out of the blue. So, I thought that you got nothing else to do.”
“You mean Cuena? Well, she thinks that if she wins this match, her way to S rank’s gonne be one step closer. But she’s actually quite busy with assigned requests.”
Really?
Assigned requests should be those where the clients ask for a specific adventurer. Despite her obsession to S rank, an A rank is literally sky high to the masses… is what I heard.
Matter of fact, she might be quite something. Not that I know.
“Same goes for you too, know? Aren’t you supposed to be some organization head?”
“It’s not just ‘supposed’. I am!”
“… Whatever! Shouldn’t you be too busy to be going around putting on airs?”
Riff arrogantly stuck up her immature chest.
“It’s the perk of having competent subordinates. Anyway, have you decided on a request yet?”
“And that’s over just like that… ?”
What an irresponsible Guild Master.
Should I really work for this place? I should be fine since I’m only a subcontractor though.
Be that as it may.
The people at the reception and what I assume to be staff members that occasionally show up are all brimming with liveliness and they all seem to be having fun.
It’s nothing like my old job. You see no one having that dying look you’d mistake for a zombie.
At least, the atmosphere is good.
Now then, requests.
There are a lot requests on the board. They range from picking up medicinal herbs or Goblin subjugation that even children can do to high-ranked ones like annihilating an Orc settlement or getting Fenrir fur.
But…
""
“*Sigh*, they’re all too easy.”
“Oho~”
As a rule of thumbs, it goes like this.
F rank: 1 point
E rank: 3 points
D rank: 5 points
C rank: 10 points
B rank: 30 points
A rank: 50 points
But there’s none of the targeted S ranks. Not to mention the scarce numbers of the A rank ones.
“Are these the only requests here?”
“Except for the assigned and emergency requests, there’s nothing more in our headquarters.”
I guess that should only be obvious since the few posted A rank requests here are on a level that can destroy a whole village.
There’s no way, these kinda requests can just pop up everywhere. Not to mention the one level above it, the S rank.
And this is the capital, the heart of the kingdom.
Most of the lands are claimed. Plus, the eyes of the Knights Order are glittering at…
Wait a minute.
“What about remote regions then? Do they have S rank missions?”
“Good attention! But people on remote areas can’t even find money to submit requests. So, there are even bases with no A rank requests at all.”
“Life ain’t that sweet, huh?”
The guys who formed up a party took the few posted A rank while I was still thinking.
“The, The A rank…”
“What you gonne do? Even the capital has those who’re here to earn some money. And the requests have and an end to them too.”
Cuena already took on requests and went on to finish them. I don’t have time to be dawdling around here.
“By the way, Cuena took one A rank and two B rank requests.”
“You can do that?”
“Taking on many requests special cases. It’s because we trust in Cuena.”
“Can I do that too?”
“While I do trust in your strength, it might be a little hard on you since you never took on any requests before.”
So that was what Cuena meant by her having the upper hand….?
Thinking of it that way, I really am at a disadvantage.
Shouldn’t I just thoughtlessly take on any requests?
“*Sigh*, I haven’t even slept for three hours this week.”
While grumbling, I took the requests with the most points from the notice board.
