Chapter 65 - The counter attack of the workshop
Outside the entrance of the workshop, there was a metallic sound that sounded like a sword being drawn.
It must have been the thieves. They may have been preparing to enter the workshop.
“–Little wind spirit. Let us walk quietly. [Silent Walk].”
A gust of wind blew in through the slightly open west window, clinging to the legs of the four people in the room, thanks to Seran’s spirit magic.
It was a wind spell that limited the sound to that which came from beneath the feet and muffled it.
“We don’t have to worry about footsteps now. Just watch out for the metallic sound of weapons. The rest will be voices.”
Seran advised in a whisper so that the outside world would not notice.
The three adventurers, Souya, Louise and Seran, lined up in front of the entrance and prepared to intercept.
Doga, the client, took a few steps back and crossed his arms as if he were a supervisor, watching the situation. He seemed to have absolute trust in the three men who had accepted his impromptu request.
“…… The entrance to is narrow. I’ll take the lead and leap outside while you intercept. Souya-san will follow. I’ll leave the timing to you. Seran-kun, you cover me with Spirit Arts.”
“– Spirit Arts again. Well, I’ll leave the slashing to Louise.”
Seran seemed a little dissatisfied with Louise, who whispered lowly, but nodded reluctantly and took out the white jewel from his long black coat to exercise the spirit of ice.
“Louise-san, I’ll go first. This suit is custom-made with excellent blade resistance. You are not wearing any armor.”
Souya suggested, looking at Louise’s red dress, which seemed to be her normal attire. Even if you are a swordmaster, you will still be hurt if you are cut in the flesh, and even a graze will ruin your clothes.
Also, she had consumed a lot of alcohol, so he was worried about how intoxicated she would be.
“Oh, Souya-san, don’t worry. The dual-wielding I learned from my father was designed to be used without protective gear.”
“Hmm …… Now, let’s see what the platinum-class Swordmaster has to offer. But before you jump out, I’ll make a move.”
Soya switched the mithril saber to his left hand, took out the thing from the inner pocket of the suit, and held it in his right hand, and Louise nodded as soon as he understood.
The thieves kicked in the door of the workshop.
Two men appeared at the entrance side by side. In their hands, they each held a broadsword and a small shield buckler.
Without pausing, Souya threw a dart at the man on the right, which he had purchased earlier this morning on the recommendation of the master of the weapon shop. The target is the right wrist where the weapon is being held.
“…… Guuaaaaaaahhhhh!”
After the sound of the wind, Souya’s aim was accurate, and the dart went deep into the man’s right wrist.
The broadsword on the man’s right hand slipped off from the pain, looked in agony, and screamed.
""
“…… Wha!?”
In response to the scream of the man on the right, Louise leaps to take advantage of the momentary lapse of the man on the left.
And then they intercepted. Louise’s dual-wielding cut through the air twice and she landed soundlessly in the middle of the man on her left and the man on her right.
“…… Tsk!?”
The man on the left had his abdomen sliced open by the scimitar, along with his leather armor, and the man on the right had his shoulder sliced open by a blow from the longsword.
“Guha!”
“–Goho!”
With a single blow.
The two men staggered and almost simultaneously collapsed in slow motion, and Louise stood up slowly, shaking her honey-colored hair without a glance at the men she had defeated.
“Two people at once. That’s impressive.”
“Thank you. The hand-thrown darts were effective to restrict them. Now, let’s go outside. I wonder how of them are left.”
Under the twilight sky, three men were standing outside the workshop with their weapons at the ready.
The screams seemed to have alerted them to the abnormality in the workshop and they refrained from entering.
I could also see one of the guards sitting on the wagon parked nearby. There were only four thieves left as far as I could see.
“…… Damn, adventurers! …… Did they know our plan!?”
The large man who seemed to be the leader of the three men shouted. He has shaved head, wore ill-fitting leather armor, and held a two-handed Great Axe at the ready.
If he is able to use this Great Axe, he seems to have a lot of power. He would be a formidable opponent.
“It wasn’t a bad idea to prepare the wagon, but it seems you were too chatty without checking the inside of the workshop. And it was just a coincidence that we were there …… Haha, you’re fatally out of luck. I’d say it’s a 30 at best.”
Souya held down his glasses with the fingers of his free left hand and smiled fearlessly as if to provoke his opponent.
“…… Damn you!”
The large man who seemed to be the leader of the group swung his Great Axe at Souya, perhaps out of desperation.
Souya calmly dodges the big swing with a side step, and with the saber entrusted to him by Doga, he flashes the body of the big man.
“– A mithril saber, huh. As expected of Doga-san’s work. There’s no other way to describe it except splendid.”
Souya muttered a word of thanks to Doga and pointed his blade back at the big man, but the man staggered, coughing up blood, and the Great Axe slipped from his hand, falling onto his back a little later.
When Souya looked around after confirming that the big man was incapacitated, he saw that Louise had already finished taking care of the remaining two men.
(I missed it …… A natural talent with a sword. Is it due to blood? How terrifying.)
She had said that her father had taught her dual-wielding, and Souya had an idea of a young man who used two swords, who had been called the Sword Saint twenty years ago. Louise might be his daughter. If that was the case, there was no doubt that he had a natural gift that no ordinary person could possess.
“You monsters …… I can’t do this …… I have to run!”
The man on the lookout, who had been watching the situation from a wagon, maneuvered the wagon and was trying to escape alone from the workshop.
“– Spirit of ice and snow sealed in the jewel orb. Manifest yourself with the covenant of the name of Seran. [Summon Snowfrau].”
(T/N: Changed Snowflower to Snowfrau.)
After chanting, Seran summoned the body of the Ice and Snow Spirit which was sealed in jewel orb and dressed like a snow maiden.
“–Snowfrau, the spirit of ice and snow. Stop the man and the wagon. But do not kill them.”
Snowfrau smiled at Seran and flew through the air, easily catching up with the wagon that had just started moving. Then, with a breath of ice, he froze the wheels of the cart and the entire road surface in an instant.
When the wheels slipped due to the icy road surface, the wagon tipped over and the man was thrown out of the wagon and slammed into the ground. As he groaned in pain and tried to crawl to his feet, his feet were iced by a follow-up blow from the breath, and he was completely immobilized.
“–I’m sorry. It’s not the horse’s fault, though.”
Seran, who exercised the Snowfrau, muttered a little apologetically.
The horse had hit the ground and was unable to get up, but fortunately, his legs were intact and he did not seem to be in any danger.
(Summoning. He’s a pretty good user too. I wonder if his skill in spirit art is comparable to that of Merylou, who uses the wind spirit Sylph.)
Soya appreciated Seran’s spirit art. The summoned Ice and Snow Spirit, Snowfrau, has a high combat power that is equal to that of the Wind Spirit, Sylph. I was not able to see his swordsmanship, but he has the Demonbane Sword in his hand, and has accomplished the Demon Slayer. There is no doubt that he is an excellent user of sword techniques.
After neutralizing all the thieves in sight, Souya sheathed his weapon and took a breath while remaining vigilant.
“Well done, Souya-san …… Good job to you too, Seran-kun.”
“You too, Louise-san. In the blink of an eye, taking care of four of them. With all due respect, I was a little worried because you’re drunk, but my fears were completely unfounded …… Seran-kun is very skilled with Spirit Arts too.”
Souya praised Louise’s skill and Seran’s spirit arts for stalling the wagon.
“–Well, it’s thanks to the ice and snow spirit, Snowfrau. . I feel bad about getting paid for this, though. –By the way, Louise, how do we deal with these guys?”
In response to Seran’s question, Louise made a thoughtful gesture for a few moments, and then sighed gloomily.
I can imagine that she may be about to make a decision that she does not like.
“…… Well, I’m sure it’s a premeditated crime, and if they’ve done something this spectacular, they’ll have to pay for it. Let’s call in Jackal to finish the job. I’m sorry, but I need you two to stay here with Doga-san and keep an eye on them. I’ll go talk to the Thieves’ Guild. “
Louise gave the name of a Thief that Souya knew, then put on her green cloak and dashed away.
