Chapter 20: Storm Wolf
Choosing a skill of his choice, that was something that Henry had been looking forward to. Although he was able to wield the sword like a professional swordsman, when it came to the skills that could deal a lot of damage, that was something that he lacked.
[skills available:
Power surge – Use half of all the energy present in your body to deal triple the maximum damage that you can deal without the skill. (Note, the damage dealt includes the increase brought by the weapons and other factors.) cool down period; 1 hour.
Firestorm- By combining the warrior and the mage path, the user will be able to summon a storm of fire that deals fifty percent more damage of both the paths combined.
Consecutive killer – Using this skill, it enables the user to deal damage that should have been dealt once, two times on the same spot. Cool down period; 5 mins.
Whirlwind thrust – The energy that shoots from the tip of the sword moves in a spiraling manner, thus doubling the damage that can be dealt.

Henry looked at the skills that had appeared in front of him. He began looking at the information about them before he finally selected one of the skills. He had noted that there was not that much of a difference between the skills in terms of the damage that could be dealt.
But, there was a difference which came with the range of the attack and the consumption rate. So, this time, Henry selected the first skill. Even though it was going to consume half of all the energy that was present in his body to deal triple the damage, he didn't mind that at all.
In fact, Henry was going to use this skill as his trump card. The reason behind this was due to the fact that, although it seemed disadvantageous at first, but once he looked at it deeply, they would find that this was actually a cheat.
Half of all the energy that was present in his body. That implied that, even if he had a small fraction of his energy, that fraction would be halved and the damage would be able to result triple the damage. Even though there was a one-hour cool down, that was to be expected considering the abilities of the skill to defy logic.
What's more, was the fact that, the power surge skill didn't really care if he used magic or the sword. For that reason, he would always be able to deal with his enemies in an unexpected manner.
He knew that in the apocalypse, the most important skills were definitely be the crowd control skills. With the amount of damage that could be dealt by his mage path, that was certainly able to deal with a big crowd, something that was considered normal at the beginning of the apocalypse.
After the selection was done, the screen in front of him disappeared as another screen popped up.
[Congratulations, you have acquired the power surge skill. Continue working hard to get better rewards in the future.]
Henry took a deep breath after that. The anticipation in his eyes did not dissipate at all. Instead, he began looking forward to even more rewards. Even though he was rewarded as the first person within 1,000 miles, then, what about the rewards that came after that, the first ones in the country? The world? He just couldn't imagine about the rewards that came with that.
At the thought of that, the motivation that Henry had to deal with the apocalypse drastically increased.
And for that reason, Henry finally decided to do something that he had already delayed. That was, using his second profession, the summoner profession.
Just as Henry was still observing the wolf, a panel appeared in front of him.
[Name: ...
Race: Storm Wolf
Power Level: Rank O, Level 2
Affinity: Wind.]
A simple description of the wolf appeared in front of him. He read it, and he got the basic understanding of the wolf that he had summoned.
Just like it was to be, the creature that he summoned was at the same power level as him. This was the advantage to him who possessed another profession. But, this was definitely going to be a disadvantage to other summoners in the beginning, as their summoned creatures would be at the same level as them.
The wolf walked towards Henry and rubbed its head against him. Since it was big, it, of course, couldn't behave like a dog. Henry stretched his hand and patted the wolf's head. The wolf was completely loyal to him.
"From now on, I will be referring to you as Storm." Henry stated after thinking about it. He would rather not think much about the name, and neither could he refer to the wolf by the name of the race that it was from.
Howl!
The wolf nodded its head as it howled in a low voice, as if it agreed to the name that had been given to it.
After that, Henry turned around and looked at Adam and Sarah and said, "Let's get going. We still have a lot of work that needs to be done. We will have to get to at least level 10 before we leave this place." Henry stated as he looked towards the apocalyptic creatures that had been attracted by the golden light.
The duo looked at the wolf that was following behind Henry as they stood in the same spot. Neither of the two could understand what was going on. That was especially for Adam. He had noticed that Henry could summon a flame, and he could handle other weapons expertly as well.
And now, he had just summoned a creature? Adam couldn't understand any of this because, he never saw an option to select multiple professions at the same time. Could it be possible that the screens appearing in front of them were different?
Thinking of that, Adam immediately decided. Since he was incapable of handling different professions at the same time, then, he could only make sure that the profession that he possessed made him strong enough to compete with Henry.
The two of them had grown up together, and that was the reason as to why he wasn't going to agree to fall behind. With determination clear in his eyes, he charged towards a squirrel that had appeared with his axe, ready to start trying to get stronger.
As for Sarah, she wanted to get stronger as well. From the way that she had seen it, it seemed that Henry only cared about useful people. That was the reason as to why she was able to stay beside him because he wanted to see if she should be of any use once she got her profession.
Since she did not want to be considered useless, then, she had to work harder so that she possess the abilities to stay beside the two.
