Officer Han was having a hard time dealing with Zhenyi. She was not only difficult and persuasive but crazy too. The woman had no control over her mouth, didn't care what she spoke or do. He now knew how to describe her aura, the correct word fitting her description would be the 'queen. She had this I'm -the-queen-what-you-gonna-do attitude. But what surprised the usual cold and tough Officer Han was the fact that he didn't find Zhenyi repulsive rather intriguing and, perhaps, cute too.
Yes, cute! If Zhenyi knew this man called her cute she might kill him there at the spot, then instead of one the police might have to pick up two bodies, and further the hassle of postmortem also.
"Miss Xin, the body is not smelly and you are standing at a larger distance from the corpse," Officer Han told Zhenyi who had her nose crinkled up in disgust.
"Ah, it is not? Then it must be the smell of the police, Mr. Law protector," Zhenyi tilted her head and looked at Officer Han who was looking at her in amusement and maybe curiosity too.
"Still disgusting as ever," Zhenyi added as she covered her nose with her hand.
Lu Xinyi's eyes widened in surprise, then in fear, and finally in awe.
Her boss was...awesome. It was proved today.
"I see, you are a big fan of the police," said Officer Han with a chuckle, thick derision lacing hypnotic voice.
"On the contrary, Mr. Law protector. Unfortunately, the police are ranked second on my hate list," Zhenyi sneered while lifting her chin.
"You are too honest for your own good," came an honest answer.
Did she not know that no one talked to the police like she had or she was still a suspect?
"See, it is so easy to guess, I'm the honest and innocent one in the case. Now, I will take my leave, Mr. Law protector, " said Zhenyi and she tried to put back her shades before his voice rang.
"I'm sorry Miss Xin but it is not permitted," Officer announced leaving no room for negotiation or misunderstanding.
Zhengi was the suspect. End of story.
Cute or not.
"You are suspected of the murder of Pei Jun. Moreover, the police suspect that the place is used by the illegal organizations to store illegal contraband. We have received many complaints previously --"
"But didn't get the evidence," Zhenyi concluded.
"Exactly."
Wasn't it the real reason why Zhenyi acquired the club in the first place? She avenged his best friend and his Right-hand man but it didn't mean that she would leave an opportunity as such to earn money.
"Why it is not surprising that the police is still useless as ever," Zhenyi stated loudly.
"Miss Xin, I can arrest you for making such statements against the police," Officer Han tried to threaten her.
"Can you, Mr. Law protector?" Zhenyi took a step in his direction and asked while looking at him.
Yes, She was crazy. Zheng Han's doubts were cleared.
"Absolutely," Officer Han spoke, inwardly gulping the saliva.
"You can try. I have a very expensive lawyer to get my ass out of prison."Zhenyi causally declared.
There was not even a single person in China who would dare to throw her behind the bars.
"Miss Xin, if you have committed the murder, not even your expensive black suits gonna save you from the clutches of law." Officer Han smiled.
" 'only if I have'. I might not be as knowledgeable in law as my expensive black suits, but I do know officer Han, you can't arrest an 'innocent' without any concrete evidence. Therefore, Where are the evidence that points that I am the murderer?" asked Zhenyi as she folded her arms around her chest.
"We do not have any concrete evidence YET, that's why you are still a suspect. The security cameras were disabled. No CCTV footage. Nothing. Just words from here and there that the owner has beef with Xins." Officer Han stated the fact.
"And Longs," Zhenyi concluded.
"The notorious best friend since centuries." Officer Han sarcastically commented.
Who didn't know the infamous animosity between Xins and Longs? But he was still unsure if she was the same, Xin.
The Xins and Longs would have been the perfect pair if there was no rivalry between the two powerhouses of the capital city. The desperate mamas were eager to marry off their daughters to either of the family. Where Longs were the approachable ones, the Xins were unreachable.
That was why Longs were more talked of in the city. The people have sung songs of their power and wealth and Xins -- they were not only unreachable but feared too. Feared because they were unpredictable and unbridled. Longs had a sense of living as a perfectly law-abiding citizen but Xins, they never pretended what they were not-- law-abiding citizens.
Therefore, it was trouble for Officer Han to interview her, and that too for murder, especially if she was that Xin.
"Officer XU, record Miss Xin's testimony, then you can leave Miss Xin. Of course, till we get some concrete proofs," said Officer Han as his subordinate came with a recorder and documents to record her statement.
He knew he couldn't get her interviewed by his usual approach but it didn't mean he wouldn't by any means.
"Sure, let's get it over with, Mr. Law protector." Zhenyi yawned in tedium.
Zhenyi was tired and drained. She wanted nothing but to sleep and not to wake up until the day gets over. It was the shittest day in the history of shitty days. Though the day started very beautifully, but then her husband had to fuck up the day and her mood too.
Long Jie.
Bastard. She would make his life more miserable than he had made her day starting with the dinner at Long Mansion.
Get ready, dear husband.
But now this fine-looking young man started another sermon.
Time to get in action, Zhenyi.
"As you know Miss Xin, you are suspected of the murder of Pei Jun who was shot dead in the head in the middle of the last night. Other than the shot in the, we are not aware what has caused his death." Officer Han tried to spoke but Zhenyi cut him off.
"I think I might know what killed the dead old man," Zhenyi said in amusement.
These stupid policemen were making her day, even more, shittier than her husband made. So, why not make their day unforgettable too.
"Who?" Officer Han asked immediately.
"Not who. It's a what!" Zhenyi corrected.
"Miss Xin--"
"Boredom, Mr. Law protector. Yes, boredom, "Zhenyi replied with a playful smile on her lips.
"Getting murdered is absolutely the most exciting thing that has ever happened to this dead old man."She continued speaking and that playful smile still intact on her cherry lips.
Officer Han had no idea that she would quote Lucifer out of nowhere. Nevertheless, he was amused but he didn't let it show on his face as he was on the duty and he took his duty too seriously.
"Miss Xin--"
"And why do I need to kill someone especially this smelly heap? Who already has a leg in the grave! If I ever decided to venture into the field of murdering, I would choose a better victim and obviously exciting methods of killing."
Or she could have Gong follow her. He always had a novel and the most interesting methods for killing people. And if she remembered correctly, none of her last few killings were as interesting as Gongs. The night on the mountain was more like firing at enemies in the dark. It had been long since she had carved the human organs with her beloved knife.
"The detective and crime fiction, I have read will be put to good use. Don't you think so, Mr. Law protector?" asked Zhenyi almost solemnly and Lu Xinyi had a hard time controlling her laughter.
Literally, Lu Xinyi never knew her boss had such a classic and timely sense of humor. It was like she was certainly planning to murder someone.
'What an interesting lady! ' Officer Han thought in his mind. ' Only if he could shut her smart mouth and get to work.'
Never in his career had he ever encountered an eccentric woman like her. Moreover, he wouldn't mind dealing with such ones from time to time.
"A law abiding citizen here was killed, Miss Xin and we are trying to locate the murder who is roaming around the streets freely. And you are cracking jokes about murders and murders. Kindly cooperate with the police."
" A job where you clearly suck, "Zhenyi muttered under her breath.
"What?" Officer Han asked again. But he did hear what she had muttered.
What a strange woman! Had she no fear of law and police?
"Just best of luck, Mr. Law protector."Zhenyi flashed her perfect thirty-two
"Of course, to you too, Miss Xin."
"Ah, what a coincide luck and I are the oldest best friends, Mr. Law protector."
