"You think it's the best idea?" Zhenyi asked when she came out of the room. The rain was pouring on her body.
She had asked her men to keep an eye and inform her immediately if things went south.
"That's the best idea I have right now," Ming Jia said, not happy about it at all.
"Who does that part of the mansion belong to?"
"I have no idea . . ."
"I'm not doing it if you are not telling me the truth."
"No. No. It's now or never. We won't get the chance again. If we are delayed I'm worried we won't find anything at all." Ming Jia was desperate. She knew the character of Longs quite well.
This plan wasn't ideal. Zhenyi was behaving like a thief in her own house. Technically, it was her house, right? Whatever belonged to Long Jie would be hers naturally.
If she were to be caught red-handed, the image she had formed in the minds of Longs would vanish. She would end up becoming a laughing stock.
As soon as she made it to the compound, a villa came into her view. It was dark and so she could not see it clearly but at the same time, a bright flash of light broke out in the sky, making the Villa before her visible.
She walked further and when she reached the entrance door, she turned the knob. It was locked, she realized then.
"The door is locked."
"Ten steps to the left, you will find a creeper. Look for the key below it," Ming Jia informed her.
"There is no creeper, Godma. It's a haunted house for heaven's sake--"
Her eyes go wide.
Holy fucking shit.
Access would no longer be a problem.
"Zhenyi! Zhenyi! Are you alright?"
On the other hand, Ming Jia was anxious. It was a very bad idea to send Zhenyi there. But she had no other choice. She didn't want people to reach that thing before her.
Thanks to Zhenyi, she now would have Long Shaoming by his balls.
"I didn't find the creeper but I did find something," Zhenyi's voice soothed Ming Jia's, anxious heart.
She found the key where the creeper was supposed to be. She had no idea why no one before found the key. Such negligence was dangerous.
"Did you find the key?"
"I did."
It took her a few minutes to unlock the door.
"Who does this villa belong to?" Zhenyi questioned her again.
"Ah-Shaan," Ming Jia whispered the name.
Zhenyi froze.
"Long Ah-shan," Zhenyi repeated.
No wonder her mother had the layout of the Long mansion. Although it was old, the core of the Long Mansion was still not changed.
"Go inside, Zhenyi. We don't have much time."
Obviously, they didn't have the time to waste.
The Long soldiers would be here soon if they heard any alarm. She just prayed that there wouldn't be any alarm system installed. Although her husband could help her, she still didn't choose to involve him in this matter. After all, he had asked her to stay away from trouble and she had done nothing but cause troubles all day.
She entered the Villa but the darkness made it impossible for her to see anything. She pulled out her mobile from her pocket and turned on the flashlight.
A loud thunder rang along with the lighting making the insides visible to Zhenyi. It was visible just for a few seconds but it was enough for Zhenyi to know that the interiors of the Villa were no less than the decorations of a palace, from the expensive chandeliers on the ceilings to the carpets spread on the floor. It was as if she had entered the palace.
Although the decorations were expensive and beautiful, the Villa was appearing as if it hadn't been cleaned for years.
"I'm inside. Tell me where to head next?"
Ming Jia stood straighter as she heard what Zhenyi said," Ah-shaan's bedroom is the third room on the right side of the villa. Don't touch anything, Zhenyi. It may get you in trouble."
Zhenyi understood. She walked towards the right side of the villa, she stood outside the third bedroom.
She turned the knob and shockingly it opened with a mere turn. "It's unlocked."
"Go inside."
As ordered she entered the room. She looked inside it with the help of her phone light. She found that the majority of the things inside the bedroom were covered with white cloth, especially the pictures and the paintings.
She didn't think much about it as it was not suspicious because Long Ah-Shaan was already dead.
"Open the almirah. It won't be locked. You will find a wooden box. Take it out with you."
Zhenyi opened the Almirah but surprisingly it was locked.
"It's locked, Godma."
Ming Jia sighed. "It seems that I really underestimated my best friend."
"Should I come back?" Zhenyi asked her after a while.
"The key will certainly be present in the room, Zhenyi."
Zhenyi checked all the drawers but didn't find anything.
"There is nothing. All the drawers are empty. It's as if someone had taken everything out."
"It means someone else was looking for the key too. Did you find anything weird with the room?" Ming asked, looking for some clues. It's been more than twenty-five years since she had been in that room.
"Apart from white sheets that are covering the pictures, nothing. And why would someone have switchboards behind the bed? "
"Switchboard! Yes! Zhenyi squat beside the bed and see if you find a switchboard!"
"Wait what?"
"Just do it."
"Holy shit. There is one switchboard hidden from the eyes of people."
"Press it hard."
Zhenyi pressed it hard as Ming Jia said. Her eyes went wide when it automatically opened and a key fell on the ground.
Dear God...
"I found the key.."
