Chapter 16: Coming Back Early
Zhou Hang’s hand was soaking in the aquarium. He hesitated for a moment before slowly taking it out. His facial muscles involuntarily trembled a few times, and he forced a stiff smile, saying, “Don’t guess randomly, kid.”
Some people are born with a lovable face. Someone once said that Zhou Mushi had a kind of cruel beauty. Zhou Hang used to ignore it, but now he feels that it is true.
Crying in such a miserable way, and still looking better than when he’s not crying, is truly unique in the world.
He shook his head and suddenly felt a bit perverse. His good friend was already in such a miserable state, and thinking about this was really inhumane.
“No, don’t cry first. You can’t guess blindly about this kind of thing. You’ll only hurt yourself. Maybe the other person didn’t do anything?”
Tears fell one by one from Zhou Mushi’s eyes, biting his lip tightly without making any sound, curled up in the chair and sobbed.
If we were to talk about it from a perspective of love, Zhou Hang couldn’t intervene with any words. After all, whether things were going well in love was something only the person involved would know. But if he looked at it from the perspective of Zhou Mushi’s good friend, then Jin Yang deserved to be stabbed a thousand times.
A lively and cheerful person was turned into this by Jin Yang in just three years, even crying was restrained.
Zhou Mushi didn’t say anything else. After dinner, he curled up on the chair for a while, then walked to the guest room like a zombie, and buried himself in the quilt.
Zhou Hang wanted to talk to him, but he could also see that he didn’t want to say anything right now. At times like this, if he didn’t want to talk, even if you pried his mouth open, he wouldn’t say anything.
He sighed and silently picked up the cups and dishes on the table.
Zhou Hang didn’t know how Zhou Mushi spent that night, but at least the next day he got up from bed, called the cleaning company, and asked them to come and take the keys to Jin Yang’s house to clean inside and out.
Jin Yang came back soon and squeezed out some money to buy a six-pointed star platinum pendant at the counter. This thing wasn’t very expensive, but the price increased by more than ten times with the addition of a diamond.
He put the item in his pocket and went home with the only glimmer of joy.
Unexpectedly, Zhou Mushi wasn’t at home. The house was empty, without half a person.
Jin Yang took out his phone and called Zhou Mushi.
“Hey, Mushi, have you left yet? I came back early.”
The voice on the other end was somewhat cold, “Oh, I’m at my friend’s place, I’ll be back in half an hour.”
Jin Yang didn’t suspect anything and nodded, “Okay, be careful on your way back.”
He hung up the phone and wanted to tidy up the house, but found that it was already clean. It wasn’t time for dinner yet, and there was nothing to do. So, he took out his laptop from his suitcase.
Looking at the constantly updated information on the computer screen, Jin Yang frowned tightly. The current trend was clearly beyond his ability to save.
Secretary Xiao Zhang called, and Jin Yang’s heart skipped a beat. Recently, there had been nothing in the company except for crackdowns.
After hesitating for three seconds, Jin Yang still answered the phone. He stood up from the sofa and walked to the window, looking outside, “Hello, what’s up?”
“General Manager Jin, the new accountant mixed up a few of your bank cards. There’s been no loss of funds, but the flow of funds on your Construction Bank Card1 has been stopped. In other words, for the past two months, there have been no outgoing transactions.”
The man who had just taken off his suit jacket trembled, almost dropping his phone.
Xiao Zhang continued, “I checked your card, it has very little involvement in the company’s accounts. Even if you pay it back now, there won’t be any problems. As for the transfer to a personal account, it’s not related to our company’s business. Do you want to continue with the payment?”
A black car parked in the parking spot downstairs. At first glance, it didn’t look particularly eye-catching, like a car that would cost around two hundred thousand. But someone who understood cars could tell that this Jaguar XJ was the top-of-the-line version, worth at least three million. It was low-key luxury at its finest.
Jin Yang never thought that Zhou Mushi would get out of this car, accompanied by a young man who was obviously a rich kid raised in a pile of gold and silver. He stood close to Zhou Mushi and even raised his hand to rub the chestnut-colored hair that he didn’t know when he had dyed.
Zhou Mushi’s eyes were slightly red, as if he had been bullied, but he didn’t resist.
“Hello, General Manager Jin, are you still there? Should we continue with the payment?”
Jin Yang bit his lip tightly, and the unfinished nail of his finger dug into his flesh, but he didn’t feel any pain. “Stop it for now.”
