Chapter 17: Save It for Yourself
Two people standing downstairs couldn’t hear what was being said (TL: Conversation between Jin Yang and Xiao Zhang). When Zhou Mushi entered, the owner of the car slowly drove away.
Jin Yang touched the treasure in his pocket and suddenly felt like laughing. What was this? He thought he had saved enough by being frugal, but maybe it wasn’t enough to pay for someone else’s car maintenance.
Zhou Mushi went upstairs. He hadn’t rested for more than 30 hours, and although he looked fine on the surface, he felt dizzy inside.
Jin Yang stood at the entrance to greet him. His deep eyes were like a pool of seawater, unfathomable.
Zhou Mushi took off his coat and hung it on a nearby coat rack. His arm trembled a bit because of his weakness before he managed to hang it properly.
“Where did you go?”
“I already said on the phone that I went to a friend’s house.” Zhou Mushi was tired, especially when he saw Jin Yang. He should hate him, but he couldn’t help but feel sorry for him when he saw how troubled he looked.
However, he knew that he only came today to clarify things and to part ways.
The person who came back from the business trip still hadn’t changed out of the three-piece work suit, but only took off his suit jacket.
Jin Yang sneered, “Which friend? What kind of relationship do you have with this friend and what were you doing there?”
Zhou Mushi had just sat down on the couch and was about to take a sip of water from the cup on the coffee table when Jin Yang bombarded him with three questions in a row.
He was already suppressing his anger, but he didn’t expect Jin Yang to speak first.
The glass that they had carefully selected together was heavily smashed on the coffee table. Zhou Mushi raised his head.
“What do you mean by that?”
This is quite ironic. Zhou Mushi knew he was young and inexperienced, but even in books and TV shows, he had never seen anyone who had slept with another woman outside and had the nerve to come home and question others.
Jin Yang was stunned, his tone of voice made it difficult for him to accept it for a while.
He didn’t know what kind of person Zhou Mushi was before, but in the three years they had been together, he was mostly gentle and lovely, and he would never make a big fuss even when he had a little temper. This was the first time in three years that he had heard Zhou Mushi speak to him so loudly, with broken glass and water flowing all over the floor, as if the three-year period of love and mutual willingness had been shattered.
Jin Yang’s throat moved, he swallowed his saliva, and he couldn’t believe it, “Is this the first time you’ve been angry with me, and for another man?”
Zhou Mushi’s hand trembled slightly, and he tried to suppress a cold laugh, “For another man? Why don’t you say it’s for another woman!”
The atmosphere was frozen for a while, two people who had been intimate just a few days ago, were now staring at each other like enemies, as if they had a hatred of destroying their homes and families.
“I had prepared a gift and rushed back to celebrate our third anniversary. I didn’t come here to argue with you,” Jin Yang took a step back, trying to ease the tension in his words despite the hint of anger.
Zhou Mushi looked towards the direction of the clothes rack. When he hung up his clothes just now, he smelled a faint fragrance that he was too familiar with. It was the La Mer face cream that Zhou’s mother always loved to use, which cost 2,250 yuan per bottle, a luxury-grade skincare product.
Even if Jin Yang was worth billions, he wouldn’t buy it for himself.
So how did he rush here? Did he just quickly pull up his pants?
“What gift did you prepare this year? A song that doesn’t cost a penny? a bouquet of roses? or a group-buying steak that doesn’t cost more than 200 yuan? These are tricks to deceive little girls, save it for yourself!”
