Chapter 176 - Glennise's Gloating

Yvonne glanced at the woman who sat by her side and then turned her gaze towards the two men who stood before them with their heads bowed in a respectful manner.

"How much longer?" She inquired and they raised their eyes to look up at her.

"Master will be here in a few minutes." They answered at the same time and shared a smiling glance at each other.

'Enough of this bromance! When will he be here!?' The little girl snarled in her heart though her head nodded in acceptance to the answer she had received from them.

The woman who sat next to her, though confused at what her daughter wished to accomplish, did not interrupt her and only patted her head gently.

Yvonne looked at her mother who was smiling at her, appearing to be the epitome of patience which made the little girl sigh as well.

'I need to be patient.' She chided her restless heart and smiled back at her mother.

This sudden change in their seating placement and the situation can be explained by going back many minutes.

___

About half an hour ago,

Yvonne looked up at the little girl who had slipped up and spoken about something that the others had no knowledge about.

Glennise realized that she had revealed something that was meant to be kept a secret from them.

Rika and Yvonne were both stunned at the news that they heard from her and were curious to know more.

'What does she mean by the King ordered everything? Doesn't the Palace have their own chefs and bakers?' She wondered incredulously as this was what she had known until now.

The Royals were supposed to be paranoid people who would not eat or drink anything prepared by people whom they did not trust.

So the new piece of information that she had just received was confusing to her little mind.

Noticing the curiosity and amazement in Rika's eyes and the slight doubt in Yvonne's, Glennise decided that she needed to explain further.

'Does she think that I am lying about this?' The daughter of the Ducal family's pride was hurt after discerning Yvonne's skepticism.

Therefore, she tossed aside all intentions of keeping mum about this and told them everything that she knew about this incident.

"As you know that Princess Felicia's birthday is soon approaching." She whispered as she leaned closer towards them.

Rika gave an eager nod in reply as she was indeed looking for the perfect present to give to the Princess on this special occasion.

Yvonne on the other hand was not as knowledgeable as the girl who sat next to her.

'How the hell am I supposed to know about that Royal brat's birthday!?' She scowled inwardly though there was no expression on her face.

Glennise was pleased with the dumbfounded expression on her face and was quick to scoff at her.

'Your fault for rejecting the prestigious position of standing by Princess Felicia's side. Of course, you will be left in the dark about such matters.' She gloated about Yvonne remaining clueless about this matter.

The news of the King wanting to celebrate his precious daughter's birthday had not yet been revealed to the public.

Only a few chosen ones were informed about the party which might be held soon.

Therefore, it was feasible that Yvonne had no idea about the same.

The King was only in the initial stages of planning for the celebration and the news would soon be sent out once he was done preparing for the grand event that he had in mind.

Yvonne did not mind that she was not aware of this as she had no interest in knowing when and how the Princess celebrated her birthday.

However, she was not pleased with the mocking gaze that Glennise Brodie had just shot at her.

'I don't care what the princess does as long as I don't get affected by this event.' She scoffed back as she rolled her eyes.

Thankfully, Rika had something to say which diverted the Duke's daughter's attention from Yvonne who had not concealed her eye roll.

"So His Majesty had bought these desserts for the Princess?" She inquired while clasping her hands together.

Rika had been trying her best to get to know the girls whom she studied with in order to build up proper friendship and camaraderie with them.

Hence, she was pleased to know this piece of secret information which made her feel special and privileged.

'This isn't all that special.' Yvonne rolled her eyes at the child who was overjoyed by this simple tidbit about the Princess.

In answer to Rika's query, Glennise nodded as she was satisfied with the worshipping look which was being aimed at her.

The Duke's daughter had a limited circle of friends which were Princess Felicia and this little girl right here.

As she could not feel superior to the Princess, she loved it when Rika treated her as a special existence which was novel to her.

Basking in the glory she was gaining at the moment, she felt the need to make proper use of this opportunity.

'Children!' Yvonne shook her head after noticing this behavior of the other girl yet did nothing to stop her as even she was interested to know what the situation was like in the Palace.

'Know your enemy better.' She was taught by her Grandpa and this was what she was doing at the moment.

The Royal family of this Kingdom could be labeled as her enemy as her doom according to the story was associated with the close connection she had with them.

If she was to stay away from them, she had a better chance of living a normal and healthy life that she wished to live here.

"His Majesty, King Ophire wants to prepare a lavish feast for the Princess and has decided to recruit the services of this particular cafe." Glennise whispered further about the news she had heard from the Princess herself.

As she wanted to gain more praise and awe from the girls who sat with her, she smirked before divulging another piece of important information that they had no idea about.

"This cafe was chosen because I had praised it before Princess Felicia who later demanded for the same desserts to be at her celebration as well." She gloated in a haughty tone while raising her chin.

This sentence proved two things to Rika and Yvonne.

First, the King agreed to bring in outsider food thanks to the demand made by his daughter, Princess Felicia.

Second, the only reason Princess Felicia was even aware of this cafe was all thanks to Glennise Brodie who had spoken to her about it.

This also showed the importance and influence that Glennise's words had on the decisions that the Princess made.

'Things seem to be moving according to the script.' Yvonne surmised after hearing everything that Glennise had to say.

Just as what was written in the script, the Princess was easily influenced by the words spoken by this childhood friend of hers.

This made her nervous about the part of the script that she had her role in.

'Will things be alright with me being missing from the script?' She wondered and fell into deep thought.
