Running out of the mansion, Yvonne huffed and puffed as she ran all the way towards the stable which was built for her etcher.
'How are his old bones capable of catching up with me?' She sneered while wondering how Butler Limo was still managing to run after her.
What she did not know was that he could have easily surpassed her but he continued to run behind her while maintaining a respectable distance between them.
This was because the Butler was asked to keep an eye on her which meant that his job was to make sure that she remained safe.
He did not have to interfere or hinder her and thus he remained at a short distance away from her and let her do as she pleased.
The little girl who had begun running with all enthusiasm and vigor was now regretting her decisions.
'I should have changed into my running shoes!' She lamented as she could feel her dress shoes clamping down on her fleshy ankles each time she took a step forward.
But even with her tight shoes which were causing friction burn, she did not stop as she continued to run.
Finally, when her feet reached the doorstep of the stable, she held the door to stabilize her wobbly body.
Looking up, she fixed her gaze at her etcher who seemed to be oblivious about her presence.
'Why does it look like he is in a daze?' She narrowed her eyes as she stared at him.
The horse was facing the window and had not turned to look at her even when she had entered his stable.
By now, even the butler had caught up with her and was standing at the door.
One look at the horse and he was able to discern what was wrong with the etcher's behavior.
"He is sleeping, Young Miss." He whispered to the girl who stopped after hearing his words.
Yvonne's brows were furrowed together when she heard this and bending her body to her right, she peeked at the face of the beast.
'He truly is sleeping!' She exclaimed when she saw his eyes closed and soft snores were heard in the room.
Every day at this time, her healthy and strong pet would be seen roaming the grounds of the estate but today he was sleeping and hadn't woken up even when she had come to visit him.
'Just how much trouble did I cause you?' She gritted her teeth that she was the cause of her pet's exhaustion and fatigue.
Butler Limo could sense the gloomy aura around her and smiled at the caring young girl that she was.
"Let him rest, for now, Miss. How about we come back later to feed him?" He suggested when he saw her frozen in the same position.
Yvonne woke up from her daze and nodded as she silently tiptoed out of the stable.
Turning around, she took one last glance at her beast who was still deep in his slumber, and chose to let him rest for longer without disturbing him.
'I will make sure to not use his powers unless it is absolutely needed!' She clenched her fists as she vowed and walked along with the Butler as they journeyed to the mansion.
"Take me along when you go to feed him." She commanded as she looked at the man who nodded in acceptance of her words.
With this matter taken care of, Yvonne returned to the mansion and then decided to take a nap while her etcher rested as well.
Butler Limo accompanied her to the bedroom and bowed as he watched her enter the room with her maid who had been waiting for her.
Mrs. Jacinth helped her wash up and prepared the bed for her to rest.
'Nap then an hour of piano and finally meeting Demon.' The little girl summarized her itinerary while the maid tucked her in bed.
"You've had a busy day today, Miss. You should rest well for a while." Mrs. Jacinth smiled as she moved the hair that was falling over the little girl's forehead.
Yvonne smiled when she felt the warmth from the maid's fingers transfer to her and nodded.
"You should take your break now." She retorted and received a chuckle from the older woman.
Mrs. Jacinth would always take her break when her Miss slept in the afternoons so she would do the same today as well.
Yvonne watched as the maid left the room and then stared at the ceiling, waiting for her tired body to lull her into a deep slumber.
As she waited for sleep to take over her, she recalled the events of today and felt that some questions needed answers.
However, she did not know where to find these answers since even her father and tutors were just as clueless as her.
'Things are getting out of hand and I do not know what might happen next.' She sighed while snuggling under the sheets.
The story that she knew was evolving which was evident to her now more than ever.
How else would the simple and slightly bland romance story that she had read now had so many new things taking place in it?
Etchers, awakening, powers, were concepts that had never been mentioned in the script but she was witnessing them right now.
This caused a new doubt to arise in her mind.
'What if things are different from what I was so sure and confident about?' She groaned as this would mean that her biggest advantage in this world would be of no use to her.
Her foreknowledge was what she had been depending on to keep herself safe from the fate that awaited her.
If this was changed then she feared that she might have to live in a constant state of paranoia, worrying what might happen to her each day.
Shaking her head violently, Yvonne tried to push away such negative thoughts from her mind.
"I still do not know whether these new aspects would affect the events written in the script." She muttered in an attempt to ease the fears in her heart.
She decided that before she could spiral down into a world of panic and distress, she needed to confirm whether what she was assuming was true or not.
The only way to be sure that the future would be the same as what she had read in the script was if she could witness the events written in it transpiring with her own two eyes.
However, the nearest event that she knew would occur in the story was still a couple of years away.
The plague which would hit the Kingdom of Rosenhyde was the nearest event that she could use as her test subject to decide whether the world was still following the script or if everything was now in disarray.
"I can't believe I am saying this but… I am looking forward to witnessing the plague afflicting the Kingdom soon." She whispered to lower her voice even when there was no one in the room but her.
With these words, she shut her eyes and fell into a deep slumber without bothering about her surroundings.
If she had managed to remain awake for even a second longer, then she might have been able to greet the sneaky visitors who had come unannounced into her room.
