"Why are we here, Master?" Theo inquired in a cautious manner as he stood beside the blue bird.
Asmodeus had reminded him that he need not whisper as no one could comprehend their speech so he did not lower his voice this time around.
"Routine inspections." Asmodeus answered without expanding more about what he had meant by saying those words.
This vague answer made the disciple tilt his head from left to right as he tried to comprehend the meaning hidden behind those words.
However, the god who was supposed to explain things to him was busy gazing at the tiny figure laid on the bed.
Asmodeus ignored his disciple's curiosity and flew inside the room after which he perched onto the table next to the bed.
This gave him the perfect view of her head and face which were the only part of the little figure which was not stuffed underneath the covers.
Theo did not disturb his master as he remained in the same position as before and watched his master in silence.
'She has gotten fat, I see…' The god of flight and thunder remarked after taking a look at her face.
The last time he had been this close to the little girl who slept without a care was when he had rescued her from the evil entity that had dragged her into an illusion.
The same illusion which displayed the events that would take place in the future.
Asmodeus had managed to rescue her in time before the entity could fill her mind with ideas that could be detrimental to his plans for the world he had created.
He even wiped out all memories of that illusion and put her into a deep slumber after bringing her soul back to her child-like body.
After that incident, he had promised her unconscious body that he would grant her days of peace which he was accurate about.
The past few months had been stress-free for Yvonne as she continued to live her life without being tormented by the evil entity that would appear only to scare her senseless.
As she had no troubles and everything was going according to the script he had written, Asmodeus' jewel crystal which held this entire world did not alert him about any abnormalities.
This was good news for the God as he could spend his leisure time on the sunny beaches which had been on his mind for quite some time now.
Unfortunately, his holiday had been cut short when he felt the jewel notifying him that something was wrong with the little girl.
Though it did not shine brightly which was used to indicate that the little girl he had brought to this world was in danger, he still felt the need to go and check up on her.
Now that he was watching her sleep peacefully, he did not know why he was alerted about her safety when it was clear to him that she was fine.
To make things easier for him, he flew over the little girl and bent low enough to let his forehead touch hers.
Theo sat on the window sill and observed as his Master used the method that could help him relive the memories that she had experienced.
Asmodeus had no clue about how she had been living since the moment he had brought her back to her bedroom after breaking the illusion that she had been stuck in.
There was only one instance that he had heard her call out to him and even at that time, she had cursed at him.
Recalling that memory, he scoffed at her for her impudence and began searching through her memories to see what had caused him to be notified about her safety.
With his eyes closed, flashes of different scenes that had taken place in his absence could be seen before his eyes.
Her request to learn the art of the sword, her training, her encounter with the 'Main Villainess' of the story- Glennise Brodie.
The deal she had made with the Baron who owned the cafe and her father who had helped her.
Her interactions with the tutors and finally the beast she had met.
Everything that happened from the day he left to this very moment flashed before his eyes.
Once the scenes before his eyes fade to black, he opened his eyes and flew higher to create distance between them.
Hovering above, he stared at the peaceful little face as he analyzed the details he had witnessed just now.
"She seems to be adapting well with her surroundings." He muttered as he had seen how she was interacting with her family.
There were also the scenes where she had mingled with her tutors and the other children which was a pleasant sight to see.
"So my gift is the cause of your recent worries." He mentioned and let out a haughty chuckle.
It was clear to him that she was pondering about why she was special and why she had awakened and received her etcher, unlike the other girls who couldn't do it.
This was thanks to the blessing that Asmodeus had bestowed on her after he had thrown her into this world in order to punish her.
When he had first transported her soul in the body of this little girl, he had watched in secret how she had shed silent tears for she would not get to see her Grandpa Leo and littler brother Vince ever again.
Asmodeus at that moment felt remorse for what he had done but he knew that he could not revoke his decision as he needed her to complete the task that she was sent over here for.
The 'Punishment' that he had declared was an excuse for bringing her here as he needed her presence to be the change that this world needed.
When he saw her crying the first night she was sent here, he had decided to make it up to her.
This, he managed to achieve by sending a bright blue light from his wing and into a forehead.
The light that had been shot into her head was a fragment of blessing from the God that created the world.
{Live well, you foul-mouthed child}
The gift that he had bestowed on her through the fragment of his blessing was the reason that made the little girl special.
She could find her etcher, she could awaken and even stay under his protection with the help of this gift that he had given to her while she was unconscious.
He was well aware of the fact that she sneered and scoffed at him for what he had done to her.
However, she was not aware of the gift that she had received from him as he never revealed this matter to her and always worked to protect her whenever she was in troubled situations.
Theo smiled as he watched his kind-hearted Master help the little girl out while keeping his contribution a secret from her.
'He left his vacation and rushed to her side but he will never acknowledge that he cares for her. Master is so contradictory at times!' He sighed while shaking his head at the bird who was staring at the girl.
"Did you forget that I can hear you, my dear disciple?" An eerie voice was heard through gritted teeth, startling the white little bird who almost fell off the window where he had been perched until now.
