Chapter 504 - Trip Would Be Postponed

When the little girl regained consciousness once again, she found herself in a strange room.

Lifting her tired body off the bed, she ruffled her hair and stretched her sore muscles.

"You woke up already?" A voice came from the window which startled her endlessly.

Turning towards the source of the familiar voice, the little girl caught sight of the upper half body of a man standing outside that window.

"Captain?" She muttered to herself in confusion, wondering why he was here.

She had already recollected her last memory before she collapsed so she deciphered that she must be inside one of the guest rooms in the Tanner household.

Now, seeing her trainer, Captain Desmo Reel, standing outside the window, she was sure that her speculation had been right.

Hopping off the bed, the little girl stumbled at first before she made her way to the window.

The room where she was brought after she fainted was on the ground floor so it was not surprising that she found her trainer standing right outside its window.

Reaching his position, the little girl had a tough time seeing what was outside as his entire body covered the view.

"Captain, could you-" She began stating her request but before she could ask him to step aside, a surprised yelp left her lips.

"Shut it!" The irked man frowned when she let out a loud scream right into his ear.

'You picked me up so suddenly so how is that my fault!?' Yvonne pouted after being reprimanded for something that she had not done on purpose.

The Captain had noticed that she wished to see outside so he had bent forward and picked her up to let her see what was behind him.

Who would have known that the little girl would let out such a loud scream in surprise which almost destroyed his eardrums?

Yvonne's pout disappeared once her eyes laid on what was now visible outside this window.

A vast ground which was thrice as big as the one in the St. Claire estate was what she beheld at present.

Looking at the numerous men running around and practicing on this ground, she deduced that this place was the training grounds of the Red Scorpion knights.

Though the ground was still at a distance away from their current position, she could still see the people in that area with ease.

Some were large, bulky men with muscles bulging out of their arms while others were lean and lanky young boys.

'Knights and squires-in-training, practicing together.' She concluded her findings of what she had just seen.

Looking at the way each of them was training with such seriousness and sincerity, she felt energetic once again.

"You missed practice today." The man carrying her spoke up, waking her up from her awe-filled stupor.

Turning to her right, she came face to face with the handsome yet devilish Captain of the Red Scorpion Knights, and only then did she realize that she was now in his arms.

The little girl struggled to get out of his hold but the Captain did not let her escape.

"Answer me," He muttered with narrowed eyes.

This morning, he had come to the training grounds first to give out certain instructions to his trainees before he could head to the St. Claire mansion to train the daughter of his close friend.

However, he soon heard the news of both his friend and his disciple entering the Tanner mansion.

Yvonne grimaced as she had completely forgotten about the training with Captain Desmo this morning as she was too worried about the dream that she had seen.

Her mind had been filled with thoughts of how to stop the Tanner mother and child and her tutor from leaving for the trip which might lead them to their deaths.

Thus, the matter of training with the Captain had slipped out of her mind entirely.

The look of guilt was so clear on her face that the young man had caught it in just a second.

"How should I punish you for missing training?" He continued, without letting her drown in her thoughts once again.

This question made Yvonne's eyes widen as she stared at him with her jaw dropped.

"I…" She paused after taking a look at his narrowed eyes and immediately swallowed the words, 'It was just one day!'

Captain Desmo was someone who disliked slackers and those who missed training even for a day would get punished to practice twice as much the next day or even more.

"Whatever you say, Captain." The obedient little girl accepted her punishment without arguing.

'Better to be docile now than to argue and get a much more severe punishment.' The cunning child lowered her head with this thought in her mind in order to look weak and in its process, soften this fierce man's heart.

Sadly, none of those tricks would work on the man known as 'Neo's spawn' for the intense training that he gave to his recruits.

Therefore, without saying another word, the Captain began walking away from the window and in the direction of the training grounds.

Though Yvonne was excited inwardly as she would get a chance to see the knights training up close, she had to pretend that she was hesitant.

"Will this be alright, Captain?" She muttered while glancing sideways at the man who gave her a simple nod.

With his assurance, Yvonne was not worried about being a nuisance as she now openly glanced around to take in the view before her.

'Not even the professional sportsmen in my previous world were as fit as these young men.' The little girl's wide amethyst eyes were gawking at everything and everyone.

Captain Desmon shot a sly glance at his pupil and a rare smile cropped upon his face before it disappeared without a trace.

Earlier, he had just entered the Mansion to speak to the Duke about certain matters when he had seen that weak and feeble Marquess Samed carrying this child out of a room.

'He wouldn't let me carry her at that time!' Desmo scoffed inwardly as his offer to help out was tossed aside as Marquess Samed was in a hurry to take the child to her father.

Thus, Captain Desmo could only follow after the tutor and his unconscious pupil who were ahead of him.

Once they reached the parlor, the Butler was the first to notice their presence and also inform those inside about their arrival.

Desmo saw that his old friend, Ford, was seated with the Duke and Duchess upon entering the room.

The sight of the fainted child had caused them to panic but the Marquess had reassured them that she had only fallen asleep due to exhaustion.

The Tanners had a physician residing in their estate as the knights and squires would often get injured thanks to the brutal training of their Captain.

Thus, the child received timely care from the physician who also agreed with what the Marquess had said.

He then asked the adults to let her rest until she could regain consciousness by herself.

This eased the worried father's heart as he thanked the physician and gave him a hefty sum as fees despite his constant rejection.

Once the child was assigned a room where she could rest, the adults then resumed the conversation in the parlor.

'It was more of an interrogation than a conversation.' Captain Desmo snickered when he thought of how Ford had grilled the silver-haired man to give details of his conversation with the now sleeping child.

Unable to last for longer than a minute under the lethal glare and the freezing aura of Earl Rutherford St. Claire which was aimed solely on Marquess Samed, the tutor blurted out every single detail of the talk he had with her.

Once this had come to an end, the room regained its silence as the matter that had been unveiled was not something they had expected.

However, Marquess Samed spoke to the Duchess and convinced her that while he did not believe in such things as dreams coming true, he wished to delay the trip for the young girl's sake.

Everybody knew how much the Duchess preferred girls over boys but sadly, she only gave birth to two boys.

Therefore, it was not surprising to see that she agreed with the Marquess and postponed the trip until the little girl was much better and out of the trauma which she seemed to have faced due to that dream.

Even the Duke was unwilling to let his wife travel outside after listening to the ominous dream of the child.

Thus, it was decided that until further reconsideration, that trip would be postponed indefinitely.

However, the child who had made all of that possible was fast asleep at that moment and had no clue about what had taken place during her absence.

The Duke and Earl decided to speak some more in his office but before that could take place, Desmo got his chance to speak to his superior and greet his old friend.

Once he had completed the task for which he had come to the mansion in the first place, the man bid goodbye to his senior and then his friend.

He then greeted the Duchess who was speaking to her younger brother before heading back to the training grounds.

However, his thoughts often went back to his pupil who was still asleep in one of the rooms.

This made him come over to take a look at her after giving out orders to his recruits and thankfully, he had arrived right when she had woken up from her slumber.

Coming out of his thoughts, Captain Desmo glanced at the child sitting securely in his arms.

'Stupid Marquess!' He sneered at the man who had refused to let him carry his pupil at that time.

The little girl now being carried in his arms furrowed her brows when she felt pride radiating from his body as a gloating look appeared on his face.

'What is wrong with him?' Yvonne wondered as the two finally entered the training grounds.
